  • Tevye: "Only don't be FRIGHTENED!!!!!"

Golde: *raises eyebrow* uh, huh. Right.

  • cool i saw the Broadway version on a choir trip and i wanted to see the film version........COOL

  • this version is faster than the normal one!!

  • i love this musical! my school is doing it and im fiddler!

  • Ah, I remember the days my older brother would play the soundtrack while we drive. My only reply to Fruma Sarah. LADY YOUR DEAD. YOU DON"T NEED THE FUCKING PEARLS!

  • FRUMA SARAHH!!!! 💀👻

  • she still freaks me out XD

  • I play Grandma Tzietiel in my school production!

  • @PETITEPIINK

Oh my God, so did I (and that was back in the '70's)!! I wanted to play Fruma Sarah, but they didn't think I looked "scary" enough (Lol!!). I choreographed all the dance numbers in the production.

  • Fruma Sarah somehow reminds me of Bellatrix Lestrange.

  • @tjsaxman9 Oh wow now that you mention it yea I can totally see it!

  • @tjsaxman9 i know right! i totally saw that too

  • Knowing the context, it is one of the most dramatic moments in the movie. I love it!

  • I'm not Jewish but when a friend I got engaged, I said to them, A Blessing on your house Mazel Tov

  • I get to play Fruma Sarah in our school musical version of this.... I'm soo psyched!

  • .... the best Fruma Sara in the world. I LOVE the high pitched 'ooooo!'s... our Fruma Sara was disastrous .

  • ...there are children in the grave area too O_O!!! How morbid, hehehe.

  • @GamingIlluminated same here! I was laughing so hard. My high school is doing this play and this scene is fantastic. We have Fruma-Sarah lowered in on a swing. It's awesome.

  • @ChildOfTheTardis5 nice :D

  • When I first learned about FotR, I learned the butcher's name and I thought it was most epic name ever.

  • This is my favorite scene in the film. So funny!

  • Tevye (wails)

  • For a woman who's dead 30 years, she looked very good

    lol

I love how the chorus keeps popping up from behind the gravestones

  • ah this scene is so fun! :D

  • She does realise that those pearls are fake, right?

  • I just love how any good wife, she finds a way to blame her husband

  • ok i did not grow up with this movie but i will say it was great because of the creativity and i am also jewish but how they portrayed the dead scares the crap out of me and this scene was really screwed up

  • My favorite part of the whole movie! Completely brilliants on his part, a natural spinner of tales. He was so clever to come up with all that on the spot AND convince his wife. :D Once again, brilliant.

  • i wanted to play fruma sara in my production of fiddler on the roof but my director cut that bit out

  • Ahhh, the fine art of bullshittery...

  • this is one of the most horrifying scenes in the history of cinema and it will haunt me forever.

  • **messes with Fruma Sarah's pearls** O_O oh shyt!!!! Sorry!!!!!!!!!

    R.I.P. Victoria

teach you to mess with my pearls you bitch

    O_O

  • I was 4 when I saw this in the theaters...scared me so bad couldn't even listen to the song on the record for a LONG time..that bitch loves them pearls

  • Terve's dream is like Judaism south Russia meets Halloween!

  • I could not stop laughing at 3:15!

  • Not to belittle the role, but in this particular musical Fruma Sarah sounds a lot like English actress Tracy Ullman, aka the woman whose show helped launch "The Simpsons" in the late 1980s.

  • I hope Ruth Madoc (She played Frumah Sarah) had a GREAT sense of balance, the way they were swinging her around at 04:25 to 04:37!

  • @xxTitanicRocksxx I want to

  • My favorite part of the movie. I also enjoy the "take-off" of the scene done by Fran Dresher in her TV series "The Nanny".

  • I get about 15 seconds into Fruma Sarah's part and have to turn it off. She is terrifying.

  • The original play,in Yiddish "Tevya derr milchdiker" was done inEurope late 1930s.The theme is the same, although some characters and plots differ.Very little dancing and singing....a very, very sad ending. This musical is refreshingly fantastic. The songs are timeless. I love it all.

  • I'm Fruma-Sarah in my school musical and I'm super excited!! I actually get to fly in the air! :D

  • i apologise in advance for asking such a silly question, but could someone please explain what is meant by the gesture when they put their hand to their mouth, and how it came about?

  • PEARLS!

  • I like how at 0:37 Tevye is all dramatic and Golde is just looking at him like "God you drama queen." I think this is the best part of the entire musical. :D

  • "I'll come to her by NIGHT!" *Golde faints* XD

  • Model TOP! Model TOP! xDDD I love it!

  • I love this part of the film and the line "Grandmother Tzeitel? How did she look? Well, for a woman who is dead 30 years, she looked very good." OMG! That cracks me up everytime. I would love to be able to use that line sometime!

  • I wish I could get away with things by telling my parents I had a dreadful dream.

  • Wow that lady really likes her pearls a lot and has anyone else noticed the goat on the tree ?!

  • never realised until now just how much the earlier music resembles Danny Elfman's, and this scene a Tim Burton one. Ideas go round and round.

  • I saw the guy with like 4 hats. I had to watch this 4 music@ school.weird, but this is the best part.

  • I used to be so afraid of this part growing up, but now it's my favorite!

  • 11 dislikes are the husbands who had wives that didn't want to be replaced =/

  • Grandmother Tzeitel is so cute!!

  • I love the guy who says "who could be mistaken" it is so creepy. He had one line in this movie and he nailed it!

  • This is my absolute favorite scene in the movie!

  • 4:08 Didn't anyone else see a man wearing a few hats on top of one another? XD

  • i love when he tries to scare her and shes like really???

  • My senior year we did Fiddler, and I knew I wouldn't get a major role because I wasn't in choir. I figured I'd try out for Fruma Sarah, because, in my opinion, it is one of the most interesting roles for the couple of minutes it is on stage, and is not something for which people would likely try out. Not only did I get the part, I successfully scared some little kids (according to my former teacher). Awesome. I don't have many positive high school memories, but this sure was one!

  • I LOVEEEEE THE MUSICAL ARRANGEMENT OF THIS SONG!!

  • i cant believe this song scared me as a kid..times have changed

  • @Cowpath3 Ditto!

  • this is some scary shit....

  • I Saw this when I was a little kid and it scared the shit out of me. Now, what was I afraid of? I think it was the Pearls.

  • "Alright... Only don't be FRIGHTENED!"

"Good job, asshole. You made me frightened."

  • i luv grandmother tzeitel

  • "pearls! pearls! Pearls! PEARLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • cunning manipulation sly planning .....mmmm. thats Tevye showing his feminine side .

  • "Only don't be FRIGHTENED!!!" *Golda looks at him like -_-* XD LOL!!! LOVE this scene!

  • Tevye's face at the end "Victory is mine!"

  • This is what you sing on karaoke night at a country and western bar in Butte, Montana.

  • And THATS why you don't drink before bed

  • @trivipesnipe soooooo true!! lol

  • I don't get the goat at 3:12, it's all like 'you talking to me?' funny though, vote up if you agree with me

  • My BFF Sarah is playing Fruma Sarah in a production of Fiddler on the Roof that we're both in. This is gonna be hilarious.

  • ...you don't want to mess with Fruma Sarah's pearls... (:

  • @Meggzwazhere

If I can find a woman in my generation with vocals like that, by God I'd MARRY her!

  • 5:03-5:26 ...when Fruma Sara slides forward on the line "I'll come to her by night..." I first watched this at age 7 or so, from the back of my parent's crummy old Station Wagon, at the Drive In.

Scariest damn thing I'd ever seen. I don't think I slept well for a month. Every night, Fruma Sara would glide through my window and hover over me until my parents would come in and turn on the lights.

    Still haunting.

  • --"Only don't be FRIGHTENED."

    --*blank stare*

    :D

  • If it was Halloween, and someone was doing a haunted house, the part when fruma sarah comes out from her grave would be perfect to scare off the little kids

  • Fruma Sarah: One of the best character parts to sing if your feeling a little crazy!

  • I love that random goat on the tree at 3:12!

  • just the fact that he made it up off the top of his head and then she actually bought it, i fucking love this musical!

  • They should have danced to Thriller :P

  • ROFL!<3

  • wow 666 likes. o.O

  • At Tayashinotado/ yeah. Why pearls? I could care less. Plus they look fake

  • fruma sarah is so freakin scary

  • I was in a production of this (I was the rabbi in this sequence) and I swear it is the most fucking epic musical ever created

  • Someone has a problem with pearls....

I love how at the end he's all like " oh god. She bought it 8D he ha ha!!!!"

  • @GHyoyobub123 I was just HOPING someone would say that! XDD Honestly, I thought '....Am I the only one who noticed how freaky she is over her pearls?' XDD

  • I LOVE TEVYE!! He's such a great, simple, peaceful and beautiful (inside) man.

God bless!... This movie has became my favorite musical since I watched it!

  • My high school is doing Fiddler on the Roof and I'm in the dream scene and we're using the choreography from the Thriller video!!!!

  • Best trick EVER!

  • I love the sheer fact that he's just making it up off the top of his head at first, and the look at the end is priceless! :D My favorite part of the film!

  • all right, only don't be FRIGHTENED!

  • haha ove tevye's face in this moment 6:31 lol :D

  • One of the best songs in the show! It has everything: Zombies, a psychotic woman, man, this show is cool.

  • I love teveye's face at the end. he's like "God! She bought it! Yes! I am so cool!" XD

  • @XxoGamerKingoxX its spelled Tzeitel

  • i always found it awesome they keep calling him LAZER WOLF

  • my english teacher played the grandma in grade 9 at her school! lol!

  • I'm still struggling to believe that it is Ruth Madoc (Daffydd's mother on "Little Britain") playing Fruma Sarah here.

  • @vonnycav

You dont get to hear a set of vocals as powerful as hers every lifetime...

  • My school is doing Fiddler on the Roof. I'm a zombie and I'm pretty psyched about it:)

  • @kariandrachel I am too, and Im the Rabbi

  • אני רוצה את זה בעיברית! את כל השיר! איפה אפשר להשיג את זה?

יש אפשרות לראות את כל המחזמר באינטרנט? לפחות עם תרגום לעיברית?

  • This was my favorite musical number during Summer Theatre '10! I was the Rabbi and Makala if you are reading this...FACE!!! YOU WERE AN AWESOME Fruma Sharh!

  • PEARLS!

  • lying to the missus WIN

  • when i was little i would watch this and while everyone else was scard i loved it

  • i always liked this song and if i were a rich man the best, but i'm a big fan of the movie/show as well

  • hahaha! Fruma Sarah has issues with pearls... lol

  • I'm sorry, but can someone tell me the definition of "Sha" I think it means be quiet but I'm not positive!

  • @MakiaLink It's not a word, but yes, it means quiet. it's like saying shhhhhh.

  • @MakiaLink actually please be positive because your right. Sha means "be quiet" and somtimes people in israel say that to people that are nurves to culm them down.

  • @newrochellephoenix thanks :)

  • hahaha. This is so incredibly brilliant!

  • i used to be so scared of this song when i was little haha

  • pearls

  • Major Drama King

  • Dream sequence in Fiddler on the Roof >>> Dream sequence in Oklahoma

  • There is a final chorus to the song. It appears on the soundtrack but in no video tapes or DVDs of the movie. Yet when I saw it on a big screen in an auditorium somewhere I would swear that they did have it in that copy, Is it me, or has that last chorus been cut from modern (80s to present) releases of the ?

  • Is it just me or is Tevye a few sandwiches short of a picnic?

  • Yeah this is one of my favorite scenes. Mazel Tov, Mazel Tov!

  • This is like a Jewish version of Thriller!

  • 6:23 Coo-Coo-Ca-choo?

  • waa haha ... at 4:19 ... his feet or pijamas get stuck in the ground ... waa haha

  • haha i never got why they made such a big deal over fruma sarah coming from the dead when they're all undead too lol

  • @darthpaco91 I think it's because she's crazy.

  • When I saw the show as a little kid, I only remembered this scene so I thought it was a scary show growing up. I finally learned like, two years ago it's not. This song is HILARIOUS. <3

  • @CityLightsOnTheWater mazel tov mazel tov!

  • You can watch this scene... only don't be FRIGHTENED!!

(if I was in front of you, I'd be staring at your face now)

  • Hmm. 9 dislikes. Well, my guess is that 9 people had grandmothers that married Lazer Wolf and Fruma Sarah came to her by night after three weeks.

  • @TessLuvsHerBesties Pearls !!!!!!

  • I love the little grandmother! lol

  • He made the dream quickly... Well. Someone has an overactive imagination.

  • Wonderful scene... Does anyone know why Tevye says "cu-cu-coo" to his wife's back at the very end of the scene?

  • @JudiTheWitch Check if she's asleep, perhaps? It is a little odd...XD

Anyway, love this scene. I'm playing Grandmother Tzeitel in my school's production, and I can't wait to start working on it :)

  • @kaikiyukionna27 Good luck with your school's production! You get to play the show-stopper -- good for you!! :-)
