There isn't anything fake about this... It works in the same way the Booterang does from the Dragonmaw / Netherwing dailies. Just the animation of the damaging spells is longer than the actual damage you will receive from the spell, hence why nothing happened at the end... I'm guessing.

Silentmidget44 explains properly. A good place to try out this sport is with the crypt fiends in borean tundra. They cast a very slow animated scarab attack that can be outrun for miles and miles even on a land mount. The animation NEVER stops chasing you unless you change continents or go into an instance. Not even hearthstone will stop it, again, as long as it's set on the same continent. Also, it does not matter how far you outrun the animation. It always hits, even if it takes it 10 minutes.

If your a paladin with crusader aura you completely out-run the bolts and you can run away as far as you like then they hit you eventually and it's just an animation the spell has already hit where you were when they casted it.

Shadowbolts from casters are the things following him, the graphic has a set speed meaning you could outrun the graphic even if the actual spell had hit you hours ago, i once took one on a tour of outland when bored once waiting for a raid

The spell already hit him when it was cast, getting on a flying mount and flying away only protects yourself from the "animation" of the bolt, and only you yourself can see it on your screen. You wouldn't be able to spell reflect it.

While this is true, you are not the only one able to see it. Well... I don't know this for sure since those spells were cast from a mob.

But I have clearcasted a LvB at somebody on an epic flyer, and watched them fly off with my LvB. He had fun with it for quite some time. Until he came a little bit too close and I thunderstormed him off the mount <.<

Nope, the spells hit him long ago but he started outrunning the animation. So its only the animation chasing him, if they get to him they do no damage, therefore cannot be reflected. Go try it.

you are wrong, the spell has no hit him yet, as a rogue i do it all the time with casters "sprintint" away from a fireball or something if cloak of shadows is like 5 seconds cooldown. i get run from it untill i get cloak which will actually stop the spell from hitting me of course.. it had not already hit me in the first place.
