Simple rule: If you can hear the jet coming in the video, it is not traveling faster than the speed of sound. A supersonic jet makes no sound as it approaches you. If the sound of the jet is getting to you before the jet gets to you... simple logic dictates: It's not going faster than the speed of sound.

@JungleJil Yeah, because sonic waves travel in a cone form. You don't hear the sonic boom until after the jet passes. Another thing is that most of the jets in this video were breaking the sound barrier at or after the crowd of people. You can tell because the mach cone appearing around the plane disappears after the fly-by, therefore breaking the sound barrier.

you cannot legally go supersonic over land except in some very remote areas and besides they were both just under the sound barrier indicated by a constant vapor cone at the tail on the jet

This is not sonic booms, it is against protocol to do that without permission, especially near the ground. The sound would be ten times louder.

apparently while you are breaking the sound barrier the controls feel slightly un-responsive but as soon as you hit the sonic boom.. everything returns to normal :)
