I remember I had heard of Epica and what an amazing singer they had, but the songs I heard, she didn't seem all that standout. Fairly good, but I mean, not like the insane eargasm I had been promised. So I sort of forgot about them.
Then this song came up on my Pandora. And I was like "Oh...so that's why they say that..."
The moral of that story...um, I dunno. Epica is pretty awesome? I s'pose that's probably it.

Are you kidding? This blows Nighwish out of the water, this whole album is far better made than anything by NW, that's not to say NW are bad, far from it, but Epica are another level...

I'm not some professor of digging meaning out of metaphorical lyrics or anything, but that's what I got.
Epica seem to be more on the operatic side of things, whilst nightwish go for the epic war songs.... But both bands are excellent :D SImone hotter than teh nightwish singer. epica's drummer is on a par with Nightwish, Nightwish's bassist is superior, but the guitarists and keyboards are sort of on a par too D:

Actually, Simone Simons after listening to the Nightwish album Oceanborn at the age of fifteen, she began taking classical singing lessons.Therefore, it can be said that Simone was strongly influenced by Tarja Turunen.
@babygoosebutt Well in YOUR opinion she probally is, I mean ya Simone is good and all, but I personally prefer the singer from Amberian Dawn (also a chick singer) to be better than Simone, but I guess it all depends on opinion
@Lilla95h I adore Nightwish and most everything they've done, from Angels Fall First to Dark Passion Play, but in my oppinion, Epica took that style and pushed it to a completely different level, and are far superior.
@aakram92 Well sure, if you're an evangelical like them :P Maybe if they didn't sing about their religious beliefs in lots of their songs (not this one, I like this song, but others, like "The Divine Conspiracy") then they'd be a fabulous band, but that's not gonna happen.…Sure they're skilled, but religion ruins it. Can they not sing about "god" in their music????
@xoxILoveCatsxox Religion dosen't kill the songs, you're holding yourself back from the enjoying the songs because they have religion in them. I don't believe in God either but there are things that you can enjoy even if they do have religion in them. And also if it wasn't for religion, we wouldn't have the beauty of Notre Dame, or the masterpiece of the Sistine Chaple or the Pyramids of Egypt, or any of the stories and myths from the entire ancient world, the list can go on.
@Ankh117 I agree with you that religion has made some beautiful things. I guess you're right about me holding myself back too, just because a song has religion in it, (I will remember it). However, (this has nothing to do with the music) but religion has also done many horrible things, like lots of wars were started because of religion. And look at what's happening in countries like Afghanistan, all because of religion.
@xoxILoveCatsxox Religion itself is not to blame, it's the fools in the world that make religion foolish. Religion itself was a way of explaining how things in the world, for example the Tower of Babylon was used to explain why people spoke different languages. These explanations became stories, and morals as to how to live a good life. It's people like the Taliban who twist and turn those morals.

I think Epica is on the same level as Nightwish as well. And I'm a long time nightwish fan. They don't have nearly the same kind of following though.
