why does no one test outdoors with wind?? Even the built in mic's work perfect indoors, not much of a test.

I just run the line out of my field recorder into the mic jack for great sound and video at 720 60fps

Check out SaxonBand Dad for my videos using the Zi8. Is it perfect, no, but for what I do it is great, small and light weight. It beats my old video camera with tape. The band kids noticed the improved picture quality on You Tube. It is what it is.

it has a built in mic, the jack is only when someone wants to use an external mic like for interviewing and stuff

The Kodak Zi8 the built in MIC has a problem even with the new firmware it stil has it. I got a Sanyo 1010

There is audio problem with the MIC. There is a firmware update that might or might not fix the audio problem. As for me the firmware did not fix the audio problem.

9allen9, asks the question I feel is important. a Mono tvplayback when the cam records Mono internal, and sterio exteranl. guess they felt no need for the additional sound. cutting corners. Excellent short review, white noise  with that wireless

You can use a zoom H2 sound recorder they work great plug into camcorder or use it by itself and sync it to the video!!!Great device and top notch audio!!!

I see it comes with a AV cable that's mono sound only. But if i record in stereo sound with an external mic, would i be able to get stereo sound with a similar cable that does stereo? Also, what kinda mic can you recommend that is very small but stereo and fits this?
