Normally the guy from Rolling Stone annoys the hell out of me, because he seems to be in every rock n' roll documentary and he sometimes seems to talk the musicians like he was right there, but I don't mind him in this. Its good to see someone from Rolling Stone, of all places, praising Rush, especially when you read the criticism they faced around that time.
It's a lesson that still hits home today, as the regime we in America live under; the loss of the individual, the "I", has been creeping in for quite a while now; so thank the skies for a band like Rush who got it in 1976, and who get it now more than ever today!
The press still don't get it. If the Rock n Roll Hall of Shame ever offers them to be inducted, I hope Rush tells them to fuck off! Seriously, who wants to be inducted with the likes of Dion and The Ink Spots.
I've never cared much for Passage to Bangkok. But the 2112/Grand Finale on "Exit...Stage Left" is the most epic, awesome, mind-blowing thing I've ever heard!!!
Hey David Fricke! Since you've been on this documentary, It's time to use your influence with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and help get Rush inducted into the the Hall of Fame!
@sysrq120 Neil Peart read Ayn Rand's book 'Anthem' before he wrote the lyrics for 2112. It's one of the conceptual ideas behind the "A" side of the album. The book is a pretty quick read. I'd suggest reading it and then listening to 2112 again. It really shows the bands genius.
@MrMeddled isn't that inherently cool though? that some girl from a 'piss-stain' town in russia could have a more devastating effect on america than the entire cold war threat ultimately did? too far? maybe she inspired the neo cons in america, but when i've read her, all i take away are the qualities of the characters, no matter how vile or admirable. i don't wage invasions or think others are inferior.
nice tom sound @ 1:58. neil peart has THE best drum sound of any drummer out there.

Madonna, Run DMC? Ar you effing kiddin' me? It would be an insult to put the greatest rock band in the world in there with them. NO TO R&R HOF!!!

30+ years of Passage to Bangkok, and I NEVER noticed the strong "toke" into the solo. Thanks Terry for that.

for a band thats looked at as so "pretentious" and aloft. How "rock and roll" is the story of 2112/anthem. THAT is punk rock...that is rock and roll.

@sysrq120 Evil rich fuckers use her books to justify their greedy evil gains reaped on the backs of the poor working class.

@sysrq120 read and learn. A lot of Rush songs have references to literature and philosophy.
