Hammet never wrote one single song alone without using James or Lars help. Jeff wrote one of dbest and most epic thrash riffs ever. You dont need to be a good soloist to make awesome music and thats exactly what Slayer showed us.

P.S Slayer never sold their sound, music or soul. Metallica did.
