The word "pet" is an abstract idea. Personally, I don't see how anyone but the people who live and care for this cute little fox, would ever have the right to say it does not make a good pet.

And 2.....if you ever lost your brakes on your car....this thing could save your life with its ears:)!!

From what Wikipedia said, in leash and harness, yes. But given their agility and their behaviour, there's the risk of them getting loose and running away. They also are rarely caught up with if they escape.

They ARE WILD animals. You can own one, but it will never be a pet like a dog or a cat. I am not against the ownership of exotic animals, but these little foxes are a lot of work, and most people are not able to provide them with the proper care.

i totally agree with you, i always wanted one, but the fact that they re super hard to keep is the only thing that holds them back. Exotic personal pets like tigers and stuff i am against. But if it's in a zoo/breeding program i'm okay with.

That has nothing to do with what I said, but let's use your logic here. I suppose it would be alright for me to have a wolf as a pet, since dogs came from wolves.

C'mon people, try not and be so damn stupid. A wild animal will never be a pet like a domesticated one. I'm not saying it's wrong to have exotics, I OWN a lot of exotic animals, but it's not something to get because "it's cute."

I agree with you mostly, but you usually want a pet, be it exotic or generic because something appeasl to you about said animal.

I used to keep reptiles with one of my ex-girlfriends, and we got them because they were interesting and wanted to enjoy the things they bring to owning them.

A Fennec being cute is anoterh appeal, I know I'd like one because they seem like great companions and of course I'd want it to be looked after!

Because it's "cute" they think they should be able to have one - and it should love them and be as obedient as a dog. They just don't like the truth.

It's that sort of thinking that gets people hurt and sometimes killed by their "tame" pet chimp, tiger, wolf etc.

Now obviously a Fennec isn't going to kill anyone, but it isn't going to act like a domesticated dog or cat. And that's why people are always abandoning exotic animals - it was cute, but it acts like the wild animal it is.

They have big ears because fennec foxes are desert foxes. It helps to release heat from their bodies and keep them cool. =3
