Probably because it was simple. But, of course he probably knew the ingredients was bought it, and he probably COULD have said many things, but why bother lol
Not sure any of that's authentic Italian food anyway. I went to an Italian restaurant that was trying to be truly authentic, and there was no spaghetti at all, and there was no trace of a tomato or anything made of tomato in the entire building. This restaurant is located in Asheville, North Carolina, USA, though I've forgotten the name. Worth checking out. Tiny place, great service, but the food wasn't all that spectacular, especially considering Asheville's many fine restaurants.
The whole red sauce on pasta and pizza is more of a product of naples. Theres so much more than that. Check out rome. Just oil and cheese or butter and herbs.
Only thing about Chef Ramsey that bothers me is the fact that he makes it seem like our Elders don't have the right to eat in a resturant. He is always making a crack at them like in this episode.."looks like they left their theeth on the table"..he needs to realize that our Elders do exsist and above anybody they deserve a night out..they have reached the age where they have earned respect and should be catered to properly. If he said that about my parents I would say a word or two to him.
In a moral sence your right, however in a business since your wrong. Old people tend to be frugal and tight with cash. Young people are more free with there money and owners play/prey on that.. Gordan is looking at it ina business sence.. know what I mean? But your right; they SHOULD be respected at all times.
Young people tend to have more expenses - kids to raise whether they're taking them to the restaurant or not. Older, retired people have the kids out on their own generally and want to go out now that they're free to do so. At least before lots of people lost their retirement money. There's several expensive places near where I live and most of the people I see going in an coming out are 50+. At least Ramsay's jokes about the Older people are about like his jokes about other groups. With a wink.
Although Barilla does make a "fresh" pasta version you can buy in the grocery store...but yeah in an Italian resturant you would expect it to be homemade fresh. Pasta is not at all hard to make...if I can make it anybody can...trust me!
to all those who doubt gordon regarding his skills all i can say is....youre deranged
to all those who think he is a fuck-all person...youre wrong again..
go see the documentary on him..his biggest secret abt him is revealed..........he's a nice lad..a very good human being..but you have to be tough to run a business..he's at the pinnacle at wat he does..undoubtred businessman and chef
when you watch Gordon in hells Kitchen..he really is very much more patient with the kitchen nightmares people..much more kind..but it is not a contest...it is total survival...
look at the ppl eating there they are as old as the restaurant can they even taste what they are eating

Wow, you're over reacting.
He's just being sarcastic and trying to make an analogy: get the old shit out. Make new dishes. Not the food from 20 years ago.

I was going to ask if he really did that. Classic.

I guess asking for something fresh doesn't neccssarily mean fresh. Barilla pasta isn't fresh it's store bought.
