Midshipmen and/or cadets are not subject to the UCMJ, so no, you can't say you served. Unless you have a DD214, or DD215. Or receive VA benefits. And not all Vietnam Vets murdered innocents, many preserved innocent lives. And they were called heroes, although they never claimed to be called a hero. Rather they were doing their job and the right thing. Many hated being called heroes for doing the right thing. You are stereotyping there chet, not every Veteran meets your profile.
If you knew the first thing about the rank structure in our nation's armed forces, you'd probably recognize 'SFC' as the abbreviation for 'Sergeant First Class' or E-7 in the Army. The equivalent ranks would be Gunnery Sergeant (Marines), Chief Petty Officer (Navy), and Master Sergeant (Air Force). That's how I know you never served... and no, dropping out of the Naval Academy does not qualify as honorable service but it does show that you couldn't pack the gear like the real men.

What specific case do you have of the military "murdering innocent civilians?" The only "massacre" to ever come out of this war was Haditha, and all involved were exonerated after a proper investigation. We have a rule of law you know, not a kangaroo court.

I've served almost 30 years in the US Army, and I think the War in Iraq was completely unnecessary.
However, I don't think we went in "for oil"- we could have had all the oil we wanted from Iraq simply by lifting the sanctions.
The War in Iraq was a screw up by an administration so fearful of "terror" that they went looking for trouble where there was none.

DirtyFinger...I understand your point...but the fact of the matter is we shouldn't be there at all, so 4,000 soldiers dead for nothing is not a bargain. And 100,000 civilian casualties is also a tragedy. The fact is, we should bring our soldiers home so everyone stops dying for oil.

I am an example of a REAL hero, not like your friend McShame. I resigned from the U.S. Naval Academy rather than murder innocent Vietnamese civilians in cold blood. That's the REAL definition of heroism; realizing that the military is a tool of the rich to increase their riches and deciding NOT to participate.
It's cowardice to murder others for your "betters"...

Midshipmen and/or cadets are not subject to the UCMJ, so no, you can't say you served. Unless you have a DD214, or DD215. Or receive VA benefits. And not all Vietnam Vets murdered innocents, many preserved innocent lives. And they were called heroes, although they never claimed to be called a hero. Rather they were doing their job and the right thing. Many hated being called heroes for doing the right thing. You are stereotyping there chet, not every Veteran meets your profile.

If you knew the first thing about the rank structure in our nation's armed forces, you'd probably recognize 'SFC' as the abbreviation for 'Sergeant First Class' or E-7 in the Army. The equivalent ranks would be Gunnery Sergeant (Marines), Chief Petty Officer (Navy), and Master Sergeant (Air Force). That's how I know you never served... and no, dropping out of the Naval Academy does not qualify as honorable service but it does show that you couldn't pack the gear like the real men.

As a Marine I love to bust the Army's chops, but I am friends with quite a few soldiers, some of them SFC's. I would pay money to see a little protester-as-an-occupation punk such as yourself call one of them a "stupid f*ckin' chump."
What specific case do you have of the military "murdering innocent civilians?" The only "massacre" to ever come out of this war was Haditha, and all involved were exonerated after a proper investigation. We have a rule of law you know, not a kangaroo court.

I am an Iraq vet, and you guys had your five minutes with that Winter Soldier BS on Capitol Hill where none of you turds had the brass to deliver your testimony under oath. If I witnessed war crimes and other nasty things that violate the UCMJ and Geneva Conventions, I'd have the balls to testify under oath and keep faith in the truth.
