I do agree that people shouldn't be fighting illegally in parking lots - over forty or not. Over forty just makes it even MORE worse. The promotors should have been professionals and considered any obstacles that may have occured many days before fight night. Sounds like some 'rumour control' is needed - these types of things can end up making people say stuff that leaves them with egg on their face. Maybe there just needs to be a list of yes/no questions that can be asked and answered definitively to put all rumours to bed.
In future, it's probably best to have a schedule - such as, rules must be agreed, medicals must be done, official sanction must be gained - all by certain dates before the fight.
BT, I'm not against you at all. The Promoters could have called the Fight or put it back on the schedule - They could have also let the public know the change. It seems everything is left up to the Fighters. For what I know this was a Professional Fight so there are contracts and agreements - those things kept changing. Between You and Mo - about 140 to 160 tickets were sold at a minimum - So they producers owed you guys more Respect - You were the Main Event.
If you were K. Abdullah or W. Hudlin - You would have went in the Ring - Announced the Fight and Called the Fighters to the Ring.
Any No Shows would have been a loss.
Believe it or Not - Both you or Mo can be the future of this Sport and the Fight Game. Everybody wanted to see the Fight - but its the Promoters Job to Get the Fight Going
A Good Promoter would have took advantage of that and Got the Ball Rolling.

They should have fought regardless and played by the rules set up by the commission and then set up a second match with full rules later. The promoters and the fighters had no respect for the audience or the martial arts. I think they should just go back to being filmmakers and leave the fighting to pros or go fight for a major event so nothing can get in the way of the fight and they can display their talents against ample opponents. Its a very simple solution.
At the end I asked Mo why he was leaving and why we couldn't get the fight going. I asked both parties why we couldn't go talk to KA. and WH. and who ever else was in charge and get this thing going. I asked Sifu Philip Redmond who was sitting by the cage if K. Abdullah had cancelled the fight. HE said he was going to find out. He left for 2 minutes and returned and said that he nor his people cancelled Nov and Mo's fight yet all the rumors drifting around the ringside seats were that the fight was cancelled.

The Head Gear issue was just a technical to throw the fight.

The other issue is the grappling was taken out. - Did the public deserve to know this.
Makes me wonder why didn't Sensei Mo comply with the medical requirements of the fight? This is just speculation, I suspect Sensei Mo might have gotten a head injury while working as a stunt man on that Jet Li movie. Why didn't the promotors ask for proof and results of a medical examination from each of the fighters prior to the night of the fight? I think the promotors are the most to blame because they are supposed to be aware of the laws and requirements for putting on a MMA fight show.
The comissioner is not going to sanction a pro fight if you don't have a physical come on Mo get it together brother do the fight if you win you win if you loose you loose not hard feelings clean it up bro.

I know nothing about BT and mo. I know of this fight because two guys I train with fought on this card, and I was there to c them. Luis Weber and the main event fighter Kapmma hw champ Rich Bianchi. My point is that Its a amateur event and if these two guys BT and Mo want to fight this would be the type of event to do it at. Regardless of martial arts background. This was not a pro event it was an amateur event. This is where they supposeto be fighting at.

Failing the medical doesn't mean u were not in shape to fight. Just mean u didn't meat the njac requirements to fight. This happens of the athletic commissions cards. Again, The Fight should have been cancelled After the Medical Exam requirements were not Met. Anything else was a mistake trying to keep the Fight Going. That prompted the changes.

Sensei Mo had his own exam. He didn't Go Further after he found out about Bell's results. Truth is Neither Fighter should have accepted the rule changes but they did because neither wanted to bow out.

The Fight was Supposed to be the Opener.
Sensei Mo was out in Uniform before First Fight and up to the Third Fight.
In the Locker Room there seemed to be a disagreement between All Parties on some further rule changes.
The Fight was never called and no further information was given to the Audience.
However, the Rest of the Fights were Excellent!!!!

So, just as an impartial, interested observer, is what happened: after medicals, neither man was found to be fit enough for a full contact MMA match, so the rules were changed at short notice to a light contact spar, and then one or neither of them wanted to do it? Is that it?

I do agree that people shouldn't be fighting illegally in parking lots - over forty or not. Over forty just makes it even MORE worse. At the end of the day, even now, they could still just put some gloves on and have a spar at reasonable contact levels, do a few rounds and film it - just like hundreds of people do every day in gyms all over the world. Illegal fighting is stupid - there are plenty other options, like actually entering amatuer tournaments.

All of this confusion could have been avoided if the promotors would have done their jobs. I don't fault Sensei Mo or Sifu Bell. The promotors should have been professionals and considered any obstacles that may have occured many days before fight night. The promotors are supposed to inform the fighters of equipment issues, medical testing, etc.

Sounds like some 'rumour control' is needed - these types of things can end up making people say stuff that leaves them with egg on their face. Maybe there just needs to be a list of yes/no questions that can be asked and answered definitively to put all rumours to bed.
In future, it's probably best to have a schedule - such as, rules must be agreed, medicals must be done, official sanction must be gained - all by certain dates before the fight.

It seems everything is left up to the Fighters. For what I know this was a Professional Fight so there are contracts and agreements - those things kept changing. Matter of Fact - This is Big Money HBO Worthy - At this Point - You can't Fight just to be Fighting an undercard to a Big Fight.
You Guys can Work that Out. Don't Fight in the Parking Lot - Represent your Art Forms and take it to the Next Level.
Your camp can tell you - I ain't disrespectful to you - But it just simply didn't work out with these Promoters or maybe these Promoters can Give you Guys more Respect and help you broker a better deal But Not Pay You for your Efforts - Wack!!!

They should have fought regardless and played by the rules set up by the commission and then set up a second match with full rules later. The promoters and the fighters had no respect for the audience or the martial arts. I think they should just go back to being filmmakers and leave the fighting to pros or go fight for a major event so nothing can get in the way of the fight and they can display their talents against ample opponents. Its a very simple solution.

At the end I asked Mo why he was leaving and why we couldn't get the fight going. I asked both parties why we couldn't go talk to KA. and WH. and who ever else was in charge and get this thing going. I was told by Mo, no was because Mo had a bus and they wanted to go home. But they came to support him, so wouldn't they stay to watch him fight?

Watchmycom. I don't know why you are supporting the stopping of the fight cause of head gear. You told me you were ready to see it go down. SO was I head gear or not and we both agreed if it was because of a medical issue, we would rather see it go down with head gear than see someone severely injured in the ring. So why worry about if they look like "clowns". They both agreed and Mo came up to our area and said he was ready to fight. If he was ready and Nov was ready then bam. Shoulda happened

I asked Sifu Philip Redmond who was sitting by the cage if K. Abdullah had cancelled the fight. HE said he was going to find out. He left for 2 minutes and returned and said that he nor his people cancelled Nov and Mo's fight yet all the rumors drifting around the ringside seats were that the fight was cancelled.

My man, I'm not supporting the stoping of the Fight because of Head Gear. That is why it was cancelled. I did tell you about the changing of the rules. Of course, I was there to see the Fight.
If the Fight was Called by the Promoters and Mo didn't show that would be another issue. I went back and forth trying to find out as much info as i could and reported it to you in Good Faith.
So do you think it would have been a good look for two Master to be fighting with Head Gear?

@WatchmyCommercial I am not too concerned about look. I mean, while I would rather have it be MMA full contact, if it had to be padded due to the danger of a medical issue or NJ commissioner rules, I would rather see that than no fight at all. Wouldn't You?
It would have been a better look than the people booing in the stands when they realized there wasn't going to be anything. I mean, if you win with head gear you can still pop bottles. Right?

@WatchmyCommercial brother first of all get your facts right Mo knew about the rules of our match when I step down to his DoJo we both set down talk and agree to them. He knew it was not a MMA match with mma rules, but a match that would be full contact with head gear. The Rules we both agree too two days before the fight. I have no reason to lie to you man.

Mr. Bell, first thing, the gear they were providing was horrible. 2nd, in no contracted fight does the rules change 2 days before. If you were training for an MMA fight for 3 months, why would you want to change the rules?
I don't think a master on your level should air this out on the internet. Who are you proving this to? Your internet fans? There is a greater community being disserviced here.

One thing we know for sure so far ( I trust what Sifu Sharif Bey is saying completely) is that Novell was in it 100% and he bears no responsibility for the fight being canceled.
We have yet to hear from the promoters and Sensei Mo.
Personally I hope they reschedule the fight and Mo complies with the rules next time.

I kind of believe mo wasn't gonna fight either. The way it was SUPPOSED to be set up, novell and mo would post their training, trash talking whatever on the youtube channel but all we saw from mo was that BS movie he made. I even told Novell this wasn't fair to him who in EVERY CLIP he made was training.

Wait, you want the Public to really believe that its that Mo didn't bring Head Gear and that was reason to cancel the fight.
Okay, then Why didn't the Promoters say that on the Mic and announced it as a disqualification.
I heard direct that one of the fighters had a medical issue that showed up on the cat scan and that was the reason for the Head Gear.

Don't spin words sir. I said that the ORIGINAL ISSUE was that Mo NEVER DID A PHYSICAL, CAT SCAN OR BLOODWORK. This we got from the doctor himself, who, AFTER WE DISCLOSED NOVELL'S 20-YEAR OLD HEAD TRAUMA AND CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH FROM HIS DOCTOR TO THE FIGHT PHYSICIAN, told us that it doesn't matter anyway, since MO NEVER COMPLIED WITH ANY OF THE MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS.

Sir, It does matter - Because of the Medical Issue it was changed from a MMA Fight. Now at what point did the promoters tell the public who were buying tickets this change.
The Head Gear issue was just a technical to throw the fight.
So you saying all of those people buying tickets shouldn't know. Both fighters trained three months for a MMA Fight.
The other issue is the grappling was taken out. - Did the public deserve to know this.

There WAS NO medical issue outside of Mo not complying with the physical. Novell got a clean bill of health despite his old trauma issue.
And as far as the rule changing went, the fact is both fighters agreed, and MO backed out at the last minute.

Makes me wonder why didn't Sensei Mo comply with the medical requirements of the fight? This is just speculation, I suspect Sensei Mo might have gotten a head injury while working as a stunt man on that Jet Li movie. Why didn't the promotors ask for proof and results of a medical examination from each of the fighters prior to the night of the fight? I think the promotors are the most to blame because they are supposed to be aware of the laws and requirements for putting on a MMA fight show.

EXACTLY Sifu Garcia, others want to curve-ball this thing and put it entirely on the promoters, when the core of the issues, even with the promoters, started with Sensei Mo not complying with the medical requirements, secondly, stalling with the headgear issue, thirdly, by refusing to fight altogether. All of this was told to us by his own coach/trainer in person.

Having Both Sensei Mo and Novell Bell come out in Head Gear - Would have made them look like Clowns. Both Novell Bell and Sensei Bell have the Fight Change Instructions - They boil down to a Light Sparring Match.
Sir, are you telling me I'm wrong.
Both Fighters would show up for the Fight, but Fighting with Head Gear would Ruin their careers. The instructions said Light Head Contact.
