  • Many thanks for the posting. I went to Brookside in June 1988, and could not get in there-because of the security guards, although I did take pictures of the road leading up to the gate at the time.

I have not been back, as I live in Kent though.

It is sad to see the Close in such a state though now, although I know it has been sold off to developers since this was taken-let's hope they improve it!

  • i used to climb over the wall onto this set

security used to chase us all over the place

  • this is spooky, it looks like a premonition of if humans disapeared... if you ignore the camara man!

  • the best.nuff said.some homeless folk could live there.

  • the best.nuff said.

  • love it.. thanx for uploading.

  • was that jimmy corkhill hiding behind that tree

  • bring back brookie

  • wats the postcode for this can you message it to me can you walk round like you did mate cheers,

  • try L12 6QN

I've been there, as you will see on google street view, entrance to the former TV location is not a right of way, but I guess it might be possible to sneak in these days.

  • Where is the parade located in real life

  • its just off deysbrook lane l12 lived up there for years last i heard some of the houses were used in hollyoaks? then that was probely just rumours

  • Can you just walk in there is it normally this quiet in there?

  • i miss brookside

  • Eerie!

Would be strange to live there. The houses look tiny, but are charming in a

    80s Barrett-stylee way.

  • what a waste of houses!! Bloody hell, there are young people all over the country trying to get on the property ladder and these houses are allowed to decay - perfectly good houses!! For christ sake, sort it out instead of using up land to build new houses!

  • they look ok, but they have no proper services, no water toilets heating or gas or electric meters, they are like prototype cars, which can't be sold as they are just a shell of what they need to be... these houses are in poor condition now, they may not even have been build to correct building regulations...

  • i think they would have been built up to regulations, because Mersey TV bought the whole set of 13 houses and its in a proper residential area, so I assume if Brookside hadn't used that location for the TV program the housing developer would have just sold them to the public right away, plus if they ever came to sell Brookside, it would have been an easier job.

  • @bus140808 blame Knowsley Council mate. they're lazy bastards

  • @bus140808 Apparently they're not as they were modified a lot to allow for filming and a few aren't connected to utilities

  • @bus140808 They're not perfectly good houses. They're just 'shells' they used for filming. They're not suitable for living in x

  • I loved Brookside. I also love Liverpool..........

  • l wish they would bring Brookside back with some of the original cast like Karen,Damon and Barry

  • Some things never leave you, its terrible sad that the close ended up the way it did as a lot of us were reared with brookside it should be commemorated somehow not left as an idle memory.........................................

  • its wierd, seeing it deserted and forgotton. it'd be nice if the likes of anna friel would revisit the place and see how their careers really took off.

watching this is like going back to your old place but the children has gone on to better things..

  • west derby in liverpool, we went about a month ago on a saturday, there was no security on so we walked all the way round it, very eerie, know ing all them actors had been there and now its deserted!!!

  • Where is brookside

  • I went to Brookside today and the place is a mess... overgrown, rotted wood, chipped paint, and whoever the new owner is, he's started work repairing the close...

the whole street was dug up!

  • Pretty amazing that it aint boarded up & no windows are smashed! Is the entrance to the close fenced off?

  • hey cool video, I lover brokie when it was on. I didnn't even know the street still existed. Just cheacked Google maps an foun it there too. Think I'll pop by next time am down that way........... Can nyone tell me the name of the track that starts about 6 mins intot he clip. I know it but just can't remember the name. Thanx

  • It's Papa New Guinea by Future Sound Of London.

  • Thanks - great video and a real trip down Memory Lane like! Brookie was The Best Soap Ever - BRING IT BACK!!!!

  • Very good vid,i have fond memories of the soap & have been to brookside twice, succeeding entry on the 2nd attempt, sad to see it all looking so neglected,it was neat walking round it all,i'd wanted to for years.

  • Thanks mate :-)

  • Whats the song being played around 1.00?

    Slow tune,but great tune :-)

    Cheers.

  • It's called Teardrop by Massive Attack.

  • Well done very good i was an avid brookie fan and like everyone myself and my family miss it terrible. The close carries so many memories for us is I say bring back Brookside . As for the kids hanging around and dereliction thats just a sign of society today. I now live in a house thats like no. 10 and an estate thats like the close. Again video welldone and momentus music but theres a glitch in the second song which is a pity. Thank you for the memory xx!!!!

  • Bring Brookie back!

  • I Went To Brookside On The 22nd December 2008 & It's Awful! Still Overgrown & In Desperate Need Of Work. & Kids Hovering Around (Well,I Say Kids, I Mean Teenage Chavs!)

  • very good video,brings it all back.quality

  • Brilliant video. Many thanks.

  • The whole set is up for auction December 17th, it is expected to fectch around £600,000

  • i dunno why but this is quite creepy, the lack of people, the huge trees at the back and the whole abandoned thing, kinda freaks me out a little.

  • they could use this set for the BBC series 'Survivors' its looks like the ideal place .

  • This video is awesome! So many memories...;) Did you film this before the security was in place or did you get permission? Anyone reading this with an interest in saving the Close, Get yourself along to my facebook group Friends Of Brookside Close!

  • It was filmed just over a year ago when there was no security but I think you can still get onto the Close these days as there's been recent pictures in The Sun and Guardian.

  • You know what -I really want to go see it now. If I did, would you like to come back with me & do another film? The place has potential!

  • I'd love to but it's 300 miles away! I went twice last year and apparently nothing has changed since. :-(

  • Where are you? I've just checked and Liverpool is about 120 miles from me. I would still go. If you want to go, just let me know.

  • I'm in Norfolk, near Great Yarmouth.

  • what happened in the last episode? didn't brookside get raided with robbers?

  • No, everybody left after selling their houses to an incinerator company.

  • I still miss Brookie :(

  • this was in the papper the other day little scouse trampy kids putting the windows thro lol

  • can the little trampy scouser kids spell 'paper' though?

  • how the fuck would i no u nesbit lol

  • well you spell it papper !

  • i fuckin love my little pony

  • Bring Back Brookie, the best soap ever.

  • Why did they stop Brookside????it was just as good as Eastenders and the rest!

  • very spooky seeing them empty and not used. i too miss brookside. can u just walk round now no security?

  • The Close is now closed to the public again as they're doing some filming there. It might be open again soon but I've no idea...

  • yeah im sure hollyoaks use it to film some scenes cos i recongnise some of it in a few episodes

  • At the moment the Close is still blocked off as they were/are filming a horror film there.

  • What film?

  • i can't post links here so do a search of Google for 'brookside close horror film' and it should bring up an article from the liverpool echo.

  • Spooky seeing it like that. I miss Brookside.

  • So do I

  • it really is eerie isnt it?! i kind of feel sorry for those houses! just standing there. i think they should either bring brookie back or turn them into proper houses and let people live in them. at least it would be a lived in street and not some creepy place. they would make nice homes for people.

  • The last company who bought them with the intention of doing them up and selling them went bust. The whole Close is up for sale for 2 million pounds. Whoever buys them will probably need to spend another million turning them into livable houses as they're all in a bit of a state. If you look through Jimmy Corkhills front window you can see into the Murrays living room.

  • I read recently that Brookside is ment to be haunted by a cast member. I wonder which one?

  • JUST TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW THE FILMING FOR THE HORROR FILM HAS FINISHED AND bROOKSIDE cLOSE IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AGAIN. If you want to visit it's at the end a road called Brookside off Deysbrook Lane, West Derby, Liverpool.

  • how did brookside finish with jimmy leaving not sure why? only watched it now and then

  • Brilliantly nostalgic and strangely eerie!

  • Wow it's spooky to see the houses so deserted like that. It's hard to believe a tv show was filmed there for years. It also was amazing they actually built those house for the show, or where they alread there? did people live in them while Brookside was being filmed there. Very spooky though, you expect a head to pop up at the windows or something!

Brookside was brilliant at one stage, it's sad how it ended..especially as that shite Eastenders is still on, and it's crap.

  • The houses were in development but Mersey TV bought them as an ivestment - if Brookside failed within its first year they'd have a profit from the sale of the houses. Nobody lived in them during filming unlike Neighbours. ;-)

  • i miss brookside it was the best soap plz plz bring it bk

  • bring back BROOKSIDE

  • It wouldn't surprise me of the security hut gets extended and made into a bungalow.

  • TO ANYBODY READING THIS AROUND FEB/MARCH 2007 THE CLOSE IS OFF LIMITS TO THE PUBLIC AS A NEW HORROR FILM IS BEING FILMED THERE! See Numanoids video by clicking on his username below....

  • Obviously I meant 2008. Oops!

  • w w w . soapzone. co . uk for Brookside DVD campaign blog updates

    THanks for vid"!

  • Nice!!

    What is the first song?

  • It's called Teardrop by Massive Attack.

  • thanks dude

  • They should do something with these now, there is a shortage of houses.

  • They're all for sale now, I imagine they've all been sold now.

  • Has the security booth at the start of the Close gone now? It was impossible to get past a couple of years ago!

Thank you very much for this eerie, atmospheric film - the very best so far! Good wishes, Stuart

  • The booth is still there although obviously nobody works there anymore. The whole Close is open to the public, there's no security gates/barriers - well except the one to stop cars from driving onto the Close.

  • Thank you. I think I'll go for a look round next weekend. Once again, congratulations on your outstanding YouTube film! I enjoyed it very much.

    Stuart

  • Cheers! I wanted to make one which looked at each house individually from the front to the back. I was a bit fed up with some of the other tour videos which were jerky and all over the place.

  • are they in derby? i thought they were in merseyside. what are the songs called?

  • They're in West Derby, Liverpool not Derby in the Midlands. ;-)

The 2 songs are Teardrop by Massive Attack and Papa New Guinea by The Future Sound Of London.

  • wh o lived in the bungalow, i cant ever remember of seeing that in an episiode

  • Harry & Edna Cross, Ralph Hardwick, Mick Johnson, Katy Rogers, Nikki Shadwick, David & Jean Crosby amongst others...

  • & not to mention The "original" Alan Partridge! :)

  • Thanks for that, sad to see what it is now though! I loved Brookie, it was far & away the best soap. Might go take a look myself!

  • Awesome!! I loved Brookside so much. So is it easy to find?

  • Very easy! There's a road which is actually called Brookside off Deysbrook Lane in West Derby. Brookside Close is at the end of it.

  • Does anyone know if you can still go and look around the close? it said in the paper that they are for sale soon, i would love to go and look round, even if it was just the outside of the houses, is the close easy to find? never been to liverpool before

  • Yes you can still go and look around, the houses haven't been bought yet. It's dead easy to find especially if you have a sat nav. lol

It's in a cul-de-sac called Brookside off Deysbrook Lane, West Derby.

  • where is the video of the last brookside.

plz put it on for us

  • i was sorry to see brookie go it was good, the heli crash on the last part was great episode. X D

  • Great video. wish someone would buy them all and then bring brookside back, maybe they will! fingers crossed eh. Does anyone know whats happened to the shops club and petrol station????

  • They're being used in Hollyoaks, Bevs Bar is now the S.U. Bar. Watch it tonight on Channel 4 and you'll see. Do a Google Image Search for Hollyoaks and you should find a photo of the whole parade as it looks now. It's in Childwall about 4 miles away from the Close, I went there in June and you can peak over the fence from the woods. :-D

  • Hollyoaks and brookside filmd in the same place. hollyoaks was filmd behind the close then when brooky got acxt the took over the hols set both film sets.

  • w w w . brookside . t k

  • A nice upload - thanks.

  • the one that trevor was in is gonan go for huge amounts.

  • The houses are about to go onto the market....it was on North West BBC news just now. Now...which one would I buy....the one that used to belong to Heather or the Grants i think...hahaha

  • its sad :(. it makes me feel quite sick seeing them like that:( i dont know why:(

  • it is so eery just thinking about wat stories went on there now they r empty that wud freak me out being there cool tho :)

y havent any of the hedges been cut thats just unnecceray

i heard chris moyles was intrested in buying 1 this morning

  • great video, i used to love brookside and its strange seeing it like that, what a waste, i wish they would bring it back, an excellent choice of song also!! do you have any plans maybe next year to return?

  • Nice clip thanx for posting. Didn't realise how much i missed the show till i watched this. Should be back on the box.

  • brillynt vid cheers for the post only thing missing is the brookesiders themselves jimmy corkhill is top scouse

  • Strangely compelling. Very,very sad and a bit spooky.Good work,thankyou!!

  • Cheers for the video mate, i live not so far away so i may take a visit thank you

  • Does anyone have an exact address for the area would love to go up in a few weeks time

  • I wrote it in another reply somewhere....

  • great upload well done..

  • Why did brookeside go into such a big decline,i used 2 watch it all the time in the 90's but dnt remeber much after that!?

  • Wow that was a great vid nice 1 , It was also nice to see the 1st episode on More 4 the other night, It would wicked if Channel 4 actually re-ran the whole Brookside series again on More 4 id definatly watch it

  • Yeh, I would definitely watch it too. Miss the Saturday night omnibus.

  • ALRITE THERE HARRY LAD

  • It is repeated on itv 3 on the 18th and 19th of october 2007 in the evening. its not all about the close thou..

  • i cant see a programme on itv4 at 8pm on sunday about brookside

  • My mistake, it's ITV3. It's a show presented by Stuart Maconie.

  • hi muppett, thanks for the video and i also found it on the ggogle satelite map after you told us where it was. I really cant believe you can just walk onto the set. why is the barrie their and why arent there loads of people going round to look - its amazing! i se people live right near the barrier, what will happen to the close do u know?

  • Apparently the houses will be occupied after Christmas so i might have to go again before it's too late. Make sure u watch ITV4 at 8pm on Sept. 30th as Stuart McConie is visiting Brookside Close. The first episode of Brookside is on More 4 at 9:30pm on October 1st.

  • so do you live near brookside close? why is there no security on it? is there noo interest from fans anymore in it?

  • No I live 300 miles away. There's no security as the company that bought the houses don't employ a security company. I guess they're happy for fans to walk around which is why there's no barriers.

  • can someone tell me what the first song after the theme tune is on here i like it lol. cant believe its been four years since it finished

  • It's called Teardrop by Massive Attack.

  • thank you x

  • w w w . brookside . tk Sign the DVD Campaign now!!!!

  • Anyone fancy a trip around the Close as i'd love to go around it.

  • Brilliant!

  • heard a we rumour that theres a few new brookie coming up on november to celabrate 25 years

  • thanks for this great vid. it brings back lots of memories and wish brookside was still on. heat magazine said that a property developer had bought the houses and is doing them up........

  • its freakin me out and i dont know why!

  • thanks mate, will try to go soon!

  • What is Brookside? Location?

  • It's off Deysbrook Lane, West Derby, Liverpool, L12.

  • Hi how did you get into the close . do you work there ??

  • No, anyone can walk onto the Close now.

  • Nice to see that the storyline wasn't true!! I used to watch these houses every week, and always admired them, wonder when they'll eventually release them for sale? They'll cost some amount, after all, you'd be buying a little bit of TV history! Keep vids like this coming, dude!

  • great vid muppet! funny i just watched the very last episode on virgin media tv choice on demand! it brought it all back to me! the drug dealer hangin about out the window! superb! jimmy winking at the end! happy on the mower at barrys mansion! so miss brookie! so is the close still accessable to the public? and is it in childwall, i am from preston, and would love to have a look!! i watched it from start to end! you are very lucky to have met the stars from this classic program!

  • Have you met any of the Hollyoaks cast? Is that filmed in Childwall too or is it just for screenshots of The Loft? Do the cast have a watering hole you can go say hello to em at?

  • I haven't met any of the cast but I did pop up to Childwall woods after I'd visited the Close and peeked over the fence at the old Brookside Parade which is now the S.U Bar in Hollyoaks. The old Brookside petrol station is still there too.

  • I wish I'd of known you could walk around into the close. I found it, finally, last year on a visit to Liverpool, after asking many passers by, kids and Bus Drivers. I saw the white gate though and presumed there was security so didn't bother going any further. Bugger! I shall have to try and get back up there soon.

  • Great to see this. Mersey Television still presumably own The Close as Hollyoaks is sometimes filmed there (you're not supposed to be able to tell, but you can). I would love it if they brought Brookside back. It's never too late. They have The Close, many of the actors would be keen, and it has a big fanbase still. I wonder what Mersey Television are planning to do with the houses they don't use.

  • Mersey TV (All 3 Media) sold the houses about 2 years ago to developers.

  • whats the song called??

  • Teardrop by Massive Attack.

  • This is EXACTLY why I love YouTube! Great to see this, always wondered what became of the Close. RIP Sheila Grant, Gay Gordon, Harry Cross & all...

  • Indeed this is exactly what YouTube is for. Thanks Muppet135 for a much needed insight on what The Close looks like today. Well done.

  • Liz Fraser's haunting vocals make this film more eerie!

  • Its Mad, Jimmy always comes in our work and says Hello to me, always loved Brookie, tried to get in many many years ago but cudnt, so Im going to try again soon, Mike Dixon comes in our work too loads, would love to Meet Barry Grant always thought he was great, Mike Dixon also used ot own a restaurant by me in South Road, Waterloo called Jalons, Tinhead used to come round to ours everynow and again with my cousin, he gave me a fiver for me birthday once, wud give anything to meet Jen ellison

  • thats cool as fuck

  • people live in them houses

  • This is disgusting, with the lack of affordable housing in liverpool and the huge amount of first time buyers struggling to get on the property ladder. This should not be allowed. They should be forced to sort it out or sell up.

  • w w w . brookside . tk

  • SPAM!!!! lol ;-)

  • funny how you can just go and look around, thanks for putting this up for those who can't visit.

  • good that lar!

  • bring back brookside!

  • Who actually owns the houses and what are they now used for?

  • If I had the cash I'd but that close and turn it into a Brookie Museum! Legendary soap and the only one I really watched. Shame Channel 4 can't re-launch it. The first story line could be about a property developer buying the houses and new residents moving in.

  • WHAT!!!! is this the actual place?? looks the same

  • Of course it's the actual place! Anyone can go and walk around.

  • BROOKSIDE!!

  • the nostalgia from that was amazing, but at the same time great sadness, brookie was awesome!

  • jimmy corkill proberly gutted them houses out with barry grant the pair of scallys lar !!!!!

  • Great vid!!!

My mate lives just round the cornor from brookie.

    I miss that show.

Why coudln't they have carried on with both Hollyoaks and Brookie.

Its such a shame to see what they've left it as isn;t it.

I thought the houses were sold off to house people and there was people living in thm now. I guess now though =/ xx
