I think you could get your score much higher if, as you went into Double Break the second time (1:42), you released shot and held lock until max lock-on. That way, you could kill the two star-shaped ships with a 6.4x multiplier and then just hold fire. Multipliers can last for a long time if you keep killing enemies, and the popcorn coming down at you in this section should keep your multiplier up and help you to kill the second set (1:51) at a 6.4x multiplier, instead of your 2.4x.
@OyVeey Yeah, I just had another go and managed 140oku after bonuses, but mistimed the kill on the boss' left side turret. I still think my scoring methods need a lot of work though, as I'm only just starting to exploit the multiplier extension feature by killing popcorn, but my score fluctuates wildly compared to when I try to score by generating star items from lock-on kills. I'm thinking that scoring uses both lock-on star generation, and multiplier extension in places.
@IcarusFW Or both at the same time - like I said, I get a 6.4x lock on the ships at 1:42, then shoot till the second set comes in. I then stop shooting until the screen begins to fill with bullets, and shoot both of them before the break countdown runs out. If you shoot them while the green multiplier is active, all bullets cancelled have a value multiplied by the current multiplier, even though you didn't kill them with lock-on. So stars and multiplier extension aren't mutually exclusive.
I managed about 150 oku once, but it's really hard to do consistently. I personally would stay near the top during the popcorn section at 1:33 on. I can get 90 oku at max by the time the turrets come out, but I generally only get 80.
Can't seem to manage the timing for Double Breaking the boss, which I suspect will skyrocket my score again. Thanks for the help on the timing with that.
