Peter made all the girls fall in love with his song Du (number 1 song in Germany circa 1970). I was one of those girls! I am in Canada and still listen to his music today in English and in German. I have both versions of Wild Thing (The Troggs and Peter Maffay) downloaded from You tube and will dance to both versions. I don't recall Wild Thing being the number 1 song in the country when it was released by The Troggs. It is a filler song one hears at concerts from time to time.
