the good thing with a front propeller is, that you can allways see, if this this still spinning of not! i´d say two things are very important too - sound to hear whats going on, and a camera to watch the back of the plane (bird attack).
This is amazing! Flying rc from a car goes way back. Two guys in a Morgan flew a model across England in 1958. Maybe in the future this will be how we all fly in this hobby.
Wow, workload like a real pilot. Flying the plane and navigation (orientation) thats not easy. Have you lost the orientation for few moments during this flight? How long was the distance from your home to Mike´s home (pls in km :) )? Good job and - respect -! Now I will look for your other clips! Thank you
What is the max range of an RC plane signal? In other words how far can you fly before you lose the signal and in turn control of your plane? I own a good bit of land and it would be cool to fly around it in FPV.
@Master7770 With my current setup that I am using now, which is a Futaba 7C 2.4Ghz. I've been told the stock range is about 1 mile line of sight. I have only flown about a mile and didn't push it much further than that. There are TX/RX's available that will allow 10+ miles of range with a few modifications. The video range is about 3 miles with the appropriate antenna configuration.
@Master7770 The original RF transmitters will go at least 2 miles before getting twitchy. Obviously you would usually lose sight of the plane before you lost control of it because you can't see that far with your eyes but now FPV is cheap you can take full advantage of the range. Don't forget that the law states you MUST have sight of your RC craft at all times to prevent injury or damage to others..!
I spent well over 1200 for just the FPV video equipment. Making another $500 investment this year as well. Its definetely not a cheap hobby. $300 might get you into one of the smaller units or maybe some used gear.
It's stuff like this that will encourage people to make laws stopping FPV. If you have to be stupid - don't post it on YouTube and screw it for the rest of us!
The camera pan control is hooked up to the flaperon knob on my controller and also capable of Head Tracking control. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Looking up at the plane is pretty easy, but I like the FPV method better, I think thats easier. Just follow the roads and have your spotter tell you when you get to far ahead.
That was tooooooo cool!! I have ALWAYS wanted to do that!! I'm a little confused though. Was the view we see in the video the only view you used to make that historic flight?? Or were you watching your plane from your buddy's car??
Ok... Thanks for the comment! I flew the plane from the view you see in the video. My buddy was talking to me while I was flying keeping me informed as to where we were on the ground using landmarks. I did get pretty far ahead at one point.

I live near an airforce base, and if I flew one of my larger more metallic planes with live monitors, they'd send cops.

Why does everyone mount the camera on the top where the fuselage blocks everything? It's not a pilot......
mryellow123 1 year ago
@mryellow123 because mounting it on the bottom where it could get broken off would be kinda dumb

If you want to fly FPV go to open spaces! We will be all banned very soon after the first serious crash in urban areas.

You said that some sort of FPV have a 3 mile radius...?
Does that include heights to?
Would like to raid the area, and maybee cut out some pictures to, when i ever got the chance.

perhaps you may want to invest on some solar panels and put it on the wings to assist battery.

The weight it would cost to carry panels is the same as the energy the panels would create. You dont get free energy. LOL. But nice try
