@TillDragon From the colorful clouds to the stripes, go into filter>blur>motion blur. The angle should be set at 0 and the amount to 999 (the highest). If the edges look a bit funny, hit ctrl+F or command+F (depending on what computer you are using) a few times till the effect looks right. Hope that helped! :)
Man, I hate it when people call these videos a "tutorial" when it is only a stupid video of them showing off what they can do..... Don't get me wrong, it is a great technique, I just wish I could do it!!! -_-
In the video, I duplicated the moon layer and turned down the brightness. I then added a Gaussian blur, and moved accordingly. Afterwards, I selected the outline of the original moon layer, inverted the selection and deleted. This left a circular shadow around the planet. While this is what I did, this is not the easiest way. I recommend you grab the "burn tool" and play around with that. I find you can get a much more accurate, and controlled shadow. Hope this helps!
@Saggmos95 Hmmmm, I think I made a comet WAY back. Let me have a look on my computer. But basically it consists of creating a rock, either using a tut and creating it in Photoshop, or rendering it out in a 3D modeling program, like Blender 3D, of 3DMAX. Then. Look for a fire tutorial, and apply accordingly. Again, hope this helps! :D
this is nice dude thx alot and not a tutorial ? it sure is just read and do what he says and you will understand the idea and then you can do your own thing anyway thx alot, very nice
Well yes your sort of right, but if you looked at the description it says "It's not so much a tutorial, but more of an idea on..." I f you would like I could add annotations or make a new video,,,
I duplicated the planet layer (so that the size was accurate),
then I used levels + brightness and contrast to make the new planet dark. I then simply added a gaussian blur to that layer, and moved it into a good position.
Honestly, this is simply impressive. There's a lot of planet tutorials, but very few gas giant tutorials. 5 stars from me- and I don't normally rate that high. That music was an excellent touch too, good taste.
Cool vid. One thing I did not get was, what did you do after the sphereize effect? The crop out thingy..

@tkkloster I used Filter>Distort>Sphereize :)
