Wow!So there's more actual Chris P. in the video than I thought!Thank you so very much for putting it on You Tube, otherwise,I wouldn't have had the chance to see it,and I'm a big fan of his!
Yeah. Basically the only times it isn't Chris is the baby video (which was an inside joke in the class) and the scene with him getting dressed in front of the mirror with "Stayin' Alive" playing in the background.
I do believe that Chris Parnell's actual Piggly Wiggly commercial is shown in this video. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like an actual commercial with teenage Chris,at least...I already know that the rest of this video has someone playing him.Besides, why would the makers of the video go to the trouble of recreating an old commercial? Finally,I want to say that I've met Chris twice in person face-to-face,and he's quite charming and dead sexy! Love,C.G.
Yes, it is his original Piggly Wiggly commerical and most of the other scenes, with the exceptions of the few times one of his students was playing him, are old footage of when he was in high school and at North Carolina School of the Arts.
lol i go to Gtown High skool right now as a 10th grader and we watched some long video about the whole Poplar pike playhouse stuff and there was a part where Parnell plays like a girl who didnt make cheerleading lol
Ridenhour was my mentor on the studio equipment. I was one of two freshmen accepted into the schools advance television production class, but I moved to Atlanta between my freshman and sophomore year. Sort of those you always remember what you were doing when, Chris R., myself and a couple other guys were doing some work in the studio when it came out over CNN about the Rodney King riots in LA. Ridenhour and I are still MySpace friends...though I never get on my MySpace account.
haha this is really funny. i go to germantown now though im not in production i just help out with the costumes. i met him the other week but i wish i got to talk to him. its so cool to see that someone from germantown got on snl.
That is too funny. I went to School at GHS and was two years behind Chris. He and I were in choir together. I hadn't thought about those old GHS TV broadcasts, Mrs. Savelle or Mr. Bluestein in a long time. I also remember David Bryant too when he played Joseph in the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Fun memories.
OMG! I was in this class. I don't think our group faired quite as well. Although my grade didn't reflect it, I learned a lot in his class. Good Teacher. I was glad to see him on SNL. Anyone out there that was in my group? You know who you are. We botched our project. JS
Ours was probably the worst one. We tried to get Mr. P to answer questions which were obvious set-ups for question replacement. We all pretty much knew it was doomed from the start:) It may have been funny, but only due to the lackluster and disorganized presentation. His was probably the most beneficial class I took at that place. You should post the other one. I think I know which one it is; it would be cool to see it. Are your initials JS as well?
Keep in mind I've had it on video since 1991. I do have a better copy of it, but it was too big to upload. I was a freshman when I took the class and appear at the end in the classroom scene in the long sleeve white shirt passed out with my head on my desk.
I think they got an "A." My group got a B- from "Mr." Parnell. Since these were just student projects, the original is probably long since copied over.
Looks like Chris' dream of being a store manager just wasn't feasible enough...
*sigh*

Jeff. Which video was yours? Do you remember? I recorded one other group who I liked. If that was yours, I may still have your project. JS

Jason Shepherd. Yeah, I don't have yours. Where you in the final scene where they panned the class? I was at the end with my head down on the desk.
