i actually own a car just like it. black with blue pearl. all original 56k on the original flathead v8 with a 3 on the tree. it's a lead sled low rider. and nowhere near a rat rod.. rat rods are okies who wants to be that.. and no original flathead is a hotrod.. sorry... best car ever built keep it unchopped and with the . only beaners do that.. if you have a link where you purchased the visor please let me know.. i have the skirts and the squirrel cage air conditioner already

To me a rat is tatty, rough around the edges and kept in mechanically sound condition no matter what the car is. A rod is a rod (hot or street), fenderless, chopped, channelled and what have you. A ratrod to me is a combination of the above. Like your car eitherway :)

well a hot rod is modified for performance and a rat rod is just made cheaply, like they did in the 40s and 50s, the others in my opinions are types of hot rods

I go by; hot rod being your typical deuce coupe nothing to special but not basic, street rod being your chromed out custom rods with A/C and sound systems, and rats are bare, ugly, and bad to the bone. Lead sleds are the late 40's and most 50's full size cars that are low and slow.

rat rod?? how the hell is this a rat rod? a rat ros is usually a bunch of '20s and '30s cars welded together to make a custom ride, but thats just a stock mercury custom thats not perfect. change the title to something that suits the car

BECAUSE ITS NOT A SHOW CAR, ITS ROUGH AROUND THE EDGE. yeah rat rod technically refears to an actually street hot rod like a 32 ford, but the term has come to be an easy way to label any car thats simply thrown togather and diven despite the fact that its not a perfect show car.

I painted my '91 toyota pickup satin black only because it had ugly faded red paint(pink) and gay ass graphics up the side, and I wasn't going to stand for that. And then I found a set of rims for my truck in a junk yard and painted them red and put some cheap ass white wall tires on it. And I lowered the truck 3" all the way around. But I don't call mine a rat rod or rat truck. But people seem to like it, even the traditional rodders where I live because they've never seen it done before.

I agree with you, but I think "rat rod" is a lot of the time used for rides that are rusty with original paint and look like if you as much as sit in it that you will get lock jaw. It's also a term used when a hot rod is only primed, but that was done most of the time back in the late 40s and 50s because the guys couldn't afford a whole paint job.

Rat rod is a term I dispise. If you type it in you'll get every flat black car with red rims and wide whites on the planet. It's a hot rod, we don't need to bring rodents into this. Anyway that would be considered a custom than a rod.
