  • If Boz had been in Steely Dan, what a group that would have been, and their concerts would have sold out in minutes!!!

  • Drew zing is the man!

  • Thanks for the download. This is a fantastic! I do believe Boz Scaggs could sing the phone book and he would sound great! This man cannot give a bad performance. He has the most prolific voice in the world. I love this man sooooo much! Boz RULES!!!

  • I do loves me some Dan and Boz Scaggs!

  • Boz can sing pretty much anything! This is the blues and he does that as good as any of them.

He can also sing ballads and songs like Fly L:ike A Bird (don't know what genre that is) but he does it really well. Talented is Boz..

  • Great to hear the fabulous electric guitarist Drew Zingg stretch a bit. It would have also been great to SEE him; but I guess you can't have everything. (They must like things dark in Philadelphia!)

Boz Scaggs does a credible job here (helps to have a great band). But Joe Simon owns this song. This is only a slight notch above Beyonce covering "At Last" (Now, Phoebe Snow is another matter! Etta has to share.)

  • v nice band....many thanx 2 all........

  • When I heard the disc of this show I was so glad I grew up when I did... this was music. I haven't turned the radio on in 15 years!!! These days, why bother?!!!

  • @cliflejeune Satellite radio is all shit. Find a good local terrestrial station and learn to love the personalities.

  • Seeing The Dukes today in S.F.!

  • i was also at the jones beach show, anyone knows where

to find footage of the complete show?

  • baby u look good....don't worry.................

  • That beat is really a turn on!

  • Come to the UK, go on!!

  • Boz, Fagen & Michael McDonald are on tour together... A must-see (& hear ;-)

  • Honest performance.....nice players.....thanx

  • Back in 1992 there was a lot of Seattle Rock and Rap that was taking over the airwaves trying to please a young generation of dummies with no taste or soul. Where are those bands now? They had no legs. 40 years later we are still listening to our parents music because our music was a flash in the pan. Just a gimmick and flashy marketing. Boz is the real deal and so is Steely Dan!

  • @dmgcat COULDN'T AGREE MORE, STEELY DAN HAD ONE OF THE TIGHTEST BANDS IN THE BUSINESS, AND BOZ WAS ONE AND STILL IS ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMERS

  • colaboration of boz and donald on this song is fantastic, yea, they should have done more together, would have been a supergroup for sure

  • was there.... michael mcdonald, phoebe snow.. boz, steely dan... countless others....

  • I agree...pity the sound quality isn't better though.

  • That was great! I had never seen this before. Being both a Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs fan, this was a great "meeting of the minds" or "playing of the minds" I guess. Two fantastic musicians that you can tell from this performance have a long history of "off stage" friendships it seems. It seems that Boz Scaggs working as a member of Steely Dan or visa-versa would have definitely worked in the late 70's or early 80's. That could have been a SUPER GROUP for sure!

  • omgosh... nice!!

  • Sweet!!! Lovely aggressive blues that take the soul on the jumping train of dreams...

  • My two favorites in concert together. Wish they'd get together again. I know Boz's son Austin is a serious Steely Dan fan, maybe he can make it happen?

  • boz+don wow!!!!!!

  • Every time I listen to this great musician he grews on me, no doubt! What a rythm and blues!!!

Unfortunately for those of us that are no native speakers, the lyrics are not so clearly and detailedly understood owing to the volume of the band's sound!

    Nevertheless, great as usual!

    Thanks for posting!!

    Cheers from Mexico!

  • One of my favorite CD's, Donald Fagen's New York Rock & Soul Revue

  • Nice!!!!!

  • Awesome combination..brings back really good memories and times

  • what a combination , all they need is Sam Cooke ..........

  • hey does anyone know the drummer? nice groove

  • Isn't it a nice change to hear a real drummer?????

  • Dennis McDermott, drums;

  • yup

  • I enjoyed Drew Zing's super fast jazzy scale playing solo's on a lot of the other stuff that night but he seemed lost on this one. ha Not trying to be smart ass. Someone should've took their sweet time with that one though.

  • I liked it a lot actually, I don't tend to like super fast stuff

  • dunskie: the truth's in the playing....

  • I believe Fagen took vocals on this for some of their first shows, then Boz wanted it.

  • I saw The Rock & Soul Review when it came to Philadelphia.

It was a great show, but what I remember most was watchhing Bozz Scaggs & Phoebe Snow play gutiar in their respective performances, Donald insisted on it.

  • joe simon performed the original, check it out!

  • Fantastic

  • Fagen and Skaggs together=awesome and favorited of course!(Mikey, who still has an old comment showing from 4 months ago LOL)

  • BOZ SKAGG'S, As usual, fabulous!

  • Just saw Boz last night at Casino Rama (north of Toronto) he is still the coolest, opened with couple of hits, smoothly went from one to another without trying to get the normally conservative Canadian (casino) crowd going. The crowd's enjoyment and intensity built till he got two encores and would have got another as there were still sooo many more songs he could have done, if they did not turn on the lights..his voice was fantastic even richer I think..was so good.

  • Saw this band that summer tour in Mansfield,MA.

Maybe the coolest concert of all time.Mushrooms. When Pheobe Snow sang "Poetry Man" I near floated into the purple air. They did a few encores, I remember they did the Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby" at the end. Awesome night.

  • You seem like a person who knows how to get the most out of an evening! Kudos. Your description made me wish I had been there.

  • Excellent clip! :-)

  • This is the only song I really cared for on the NYS&R CD.

  • Kirk Whalum, the great jazz sax player put this tune on his "IN THIS LIFE" CD.

The lady who sang it was Theresa James. She has that deep, raspy sexy voice that was perfect for the song.

  • I saw this show! How cool is that?

    Wow.

    I actually remember this.

  • The Boz and Steely Dan were just 2 of the artists that gave me a deeper appreciation of how good some soulful 70s music became a part of my life...Since then, we haven't really seen some decent blues/soul music come around-oh well...

  • SOUND SOOO STEELY

  • Hey guys FYI- its a Gamble & Huff Song, they weren't there. I saw the NYR&SR in philly in 92 or 93, the only time I know of that they toured... Scaggs, Becker, Fagen, Phoebe Snow, Michael McDonald, Tiran Porter (Doobie Bros.) cant remember who else. Think they also put out a live CD of the tour. Im sure its out of print but if anyone has it id love to hear it!!!

  • The version of, 'Lonely Teardrops' from the 'Leaving Las Vegas' movie is the cut from the NYR&SR album.

  • What a concert that must've been! Boz, Don, Drew, Walter stopping by...what an awesome night Philly had!

    Thank you ;-))

  • Ringo Starr also recorded this on his hit album "Ringo the 4th" in the late '70s.

  • Drew Zingg is the king on guitar.

  • I think this is in philly,(Gamble and Huff comment)I was there! damn.

Walter becker showed up as a guest guitarist!

  • You're right. This was from the Philly show. I saw them at Jones Beach and Becker was with them at that show as well.

  • Hey , I have been looking for this! Finally someone posted it! Thanks! I saw The New York R&S Review that year. This was great.

  • dunskie,

Checkout this clip from the same tour:

    q2iPhS2XSnk

Just put that string into the YouTube search.

They are playing Pretzel Logic, one of the best SD tunes ever.

    Cheers.

  • Is that a "Hagström Super Swede" guitar Boz is playing?

  • I'm pretty sure it's a Gibson L5S. Quite short lived solid version of the incomparable L5 jazz model. Could be wrong, though.

  • No. Its a Gibson L5-S (solid body version of the archtop Gibson L-5) because it has the long tailpiece and has a sunburst finish, its probably the 1974-1975 variety and maybe even early 1976 right before Gibson switched over to the TP-6 Fine tuning bridge.

  • Boz Scaggs- He da Man!

  • Great song and preformance : ) thanks - Don is da man.

  • I was looking for the original Joe Simon and I found this one. Very Nice!!!!!

    Thanks for posting.
