Angel and Spike have similarities, but I think they are learned rather than instinctual. They spent a LOT of time together, and Angelus was Spike's mentor. Remember in "School Hard" when Angel says "I taught you to always guard your perimeter." Then Spike called Angel his Yoda. Spike put his own spin on what he was taught, but the basics are still there. Thus they occasionally react the same. It's all good though, some of my favorite comedic moments come from their similarities.
You can't "make things work" with someone when one moment of true happiness makes you kill that person. If you watched Angel you also know that that doesn't JUST mean sex with her Buffy made him happy as he is ever likely to get you cant "make that work". While its true Angel made him the killer he was if you listened to BOTH sides of the dialog i believe he says something like "i just opened the door" saying that the monster was already there.

Angel was willing to hand Darla over to Holtz without hesitation, while James was willing to die to protect Elisabeth. James even allowed himself to die so he could be invulnerable long enough to get revenge after Angel killed Elisabeth.

It's from "A Hole in The World" I think a lot of people forget that one of the funniest scenes is in the beginning of one of the most sad episodes of Angel ever.

sure^^ Okay, so it's in the second season of Buffy. Pretty much from episode 14 (innocence), till the end of the season. Because Angel loses his soul in episode 13, n Dru n Spike were already together n in Sunnydale before that, so after becoming Angelus he immediatly joins them. I can try n pick out which exact eps these scenes r from if u wantO.O
i don't know the name of the episode but this is where Angel doesn't have his soul and is planning to open the cothla (i can't spell that) and suck the world into Hell. (i should remember that it's the second episode i've ever seen of Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

They have the same motions and everything...I never noticed before that they have the same posture when they were spying on Buffy when she was in the Bronze.
Spike consists of one complex piled on the another. Low esteem issues and daddy/mommy issues that he covers with posturing, violence, playing of victim and complaining all the time. All that in psychotic vamp package. Ugh! Angel is far from perfect but at least he is consistent, original character while Spike is parody of himself after S3. Pathetic.

I think that all the things you listed about Spike are what makes him such a likeable character. He can be funny, scary, brooding, gentle, violent, crazy, sane... he's such an all-rounded character and full of surprises. Angel always has the same deal - a brooding vampire, heartbroken because he can never be with the one he loves. Angel is sweet, but Spike is clearly better! :) In my opinion, that is... lol
Angel does surpass Spike in everything, but it seems like Spike is always trying to beat Angel at anything. But it seemed they worked out their issues in Angel season 5. It was after Fred died that both vamps started working together. And Spike willingly joined Angel's team when he had to reluctantly go with Buffy's. But both vamps together in a fight is pure awesomeness!
I like both Spike and Angel/Angelus for different reasons, but it would sure suck to be Spike. In terms of being evil, Angelus exceeds Spike at all levels. Sadly for Spike, Angel is better at being good as well, since even with a soul, Spike is pretty selfish. I love all of them, but Angelus is definitely my favorite. And he's always inside Angel, just waiting to come out and play. Thanks for the video.

Angel is patronizing, full of hubris, arrogant, and a bitch of the higher forces and destiny. He had his soul forced on him as a curse and he is in constant danger of losing it, and he's 100% evil without it. Spike made his own choices, got his soul back, and died to save the world out of his own will, something Angel never did
@nightandday Angel's fate wasn't forced on him. He could have chosen not to listen to Whistler, Doyle, the vision from Cordy, etc. How is he patronizing? Spike is the proud, arrogant one. He's a selfish, snarky prat who even insults the people he's saving. Angel's curse doesn't make him less good, it makes him tragic. The manner of getting a soul has no bearing on the merit of that soul. Spike had no idea what the amulet would do; he only thought he'd die fighting--as did Angel, but more often.

It's from "A Hole in The World" I think a lot of people forget that one of the funniest scenes is in the beginning of one of the most sad episodes of Angel ever.

hmm il help u remember half way hes a ghost anoying angel but in the episode called destiny spike becomes physical again and angel and spike have to fight and when there fighting spike tells him how much he hates him and that hes glad hes nothing like angel :)

Amazing Vid! I love how this really plays on Spike's issues with Angel, and his need to belong, it's great! I also forgot just HOW similar these two are, but you reminded me when You had Buffy shut the door on both of them... Spike follows in Angel's footsteps a lot. But, I like Spike better. :D Great Job!!!

as much as I adore buffy(the vampire slayer, and any season of Angel - because of Spike - I should know this, but... what episode is that? Where Spikes in a wheelchair(spinal damage bcuz of Buffy) and Angelus n Dru is back. Someone know??

sure^^ Okay, so it's in the second season of Buffy. Pretty much from episode 14 (innocence), till the end of the season. Because Angel loses his soul in episode 13, n Dru n Spike were already together n in Sunnydale before that, so after becoming Angelus he immediatly joins them. I can try n pick out which exact eps these scenes r from if u wantO.O

i don't know the name of the episode but this is where Angel doesn't have his soul and is planning to open the cothla (i can't spell that) and suck the world into Hell. (i should remember that it's the second episode i've ever seen of Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

i love Spike and Angel they are both hot but i find i like Spike a tad bit more in that he is more complex and funny

Spike consists of one complex piled on the another. Low esteem issues and daddy/mommy issues that he covers with posturing, violence, playing of victim and complaining all the time. All that in psychotic vamp package. Ugh! Angel is far from perfect but at least he is consistent, original character while Spike is parody of himself after S3. Pathetic.
BTW I loved your vid. I didn't laugh liked this for months. Great editinig 5* :D

I think that all the things you listed about Spike are what makes him such a likeable character. He can be funny, scary, brooding, gentle, violent, crazy, sane... he's such an all-rounded character and full of surprises. Angel always has the same deal - a brooding vampire, heartbroken because he can never be with the one he loves. Angel is sweet, but Spike is clearly better! :) In my opinion, that is... lol

Angel does surpass Spike in everything, but it seems like Spike is always trying to beat Angel at anything. But it seemed they worked out their issues in Angel season 5. It was after Fred died that both vamps started working together. And Spike willingly joined Angel's team when he had to reluctantly go with Buffy's. But both vamps together in a fight is pure awesomeness!

I like both Spike and Angel/Angelus for different reasons, but it would sure suck to be Spike. In terms of being evil, Angelus exceeds Spike at all levels. Sadly for Spike, Angel is better at being good as well, since even with a soul, Spike is pretty selfish. I love all of them, but Angelus is definitely my favorite. And he's always inside Angel, just waiting to come out and play. Thanks for the video.

@taaroko He's better at being evil, no doubt. But he's not better at being good, and he's certainly not better in making his own fate instead of having it forced on him. Angel is patronizing, full of hubris, arrogant, and a bitch of the higher forces and destiny. He had his soul forced on him as a curse and he is in constant danger of losing it, and he's 100% evil without it. Spike made his own choices, got his soul back, and died to save the world out of his own will, something Angel never did

@nightandday Angel's fate wasn't forced on him. He could have chosen not to listen to Whistler, Doyle, the vision from Cordy, etc. How is he patronizing? Spike is the proud, arrogant one. He's a selfish, snarky prat who even insults the people he's saving. Angel's curse doesn't make him less good, it makes him tragic. The manner of getting a soul has no bearing on the merit of that soul. Spike had no idea what the amulet would do; he only thought he'd die fighting--as did Angel, but more often.
