  • So yeah I bought this very model same paint and everything~. Great mustang!!!! It drives like a dream and looks great. Something overlooked by these vehicles is the suspension upgrades and for the 427r upgrades u get a balanced combination of power and handling. If u get the chance to drive one have fun this is a very fun ride!!!

  • brillant for the price. i mean, for $25,000 USD you get the acceleration of a $40,000 USD BMW 335i. Maybe not as much refinement as youd like, but its not as sophisticated as a BMW m6, nor as refined as a mercedes mclaruen. but its a fraction of the price. you wouldnt expect a ferrari 599 for the price of a honda accord, now would you :)

There are a few dumbshits at work that have tried to convince me to buy a BMW or Mercedes instead of a 'Stang because of the "prestige" and "status" that it would bring.

  • lateral G doesnt account for all handling, the Z06 still gets a better launch, better steering transitions, bites in better so it wont step out in a turn, and the Z06 wont get out of hand on an unsettled road...the mustang is a great handler but i get annoyed when people assume Lateral Gs are a perfect indication of handling

  • I didn't say it was a perfect indication, it's an indication that it's way better than what's possible stock. Me personally, I'm not an idiot fanboy. I look at facts. The corvette is lighter, has a better chassis in almost every aspect, and is very mod-friendly. I'm not hating on vettes. I think they're awesome and would like to get one someday (2010 GrandSport). As for now I have a Mustang GT and a Dodge Charger SRT8. My next vehicle will likely be a corvette.

  • The charger is the only Dodge I ever bought, and I gotta admit I kinda like it. I love my mustang, and I loved my camaro SS for the most part. honestly my next car more than likely be a newer vette. I like my mustang better than the camaro, but I was happy with the power my LS1 made with bolt-ons. I'll probably go with the vette because it's a light, nimble car with an LS3 so that is like the perfect combination for me.

    You can practially build or modify any year mustang from the ground up. All you need is a VIN number.

  • Yeah but there isn't too many choices for heads with 3 or 4 valve motors, and only trickflow makes a completely new from a blank sheet of paper head for the 2 valve. It seems like there are more options for the LS motors. The 5.0 has way more options than the mod motors. My 6.1 hemi in the charger has no aftermarket support as far as heads go, I'd have to take mine off and have them machined and upgrade springs and valves myself. Like I can only choose P.I. or Trickflow for my GT.

  • That is not at all true by any means. The Stock RS or SS run downt the 1/4 mile in 13.0 the GT does it in 13.5. The Hennessey does 0-60 in 4.3 the GT 500 does it in 4.6 . The Hennessey blasts the 1/4 mile in 12.1 and the GT500 does it in 12.5. Dont get me wrong I think the GT500 is awesome but Id take the Hennesey all day.

  • The difference here in times are solely due to smaller rubber on the stangs, compared to the camaros. It has always maddened me that Ford keeps putting that kind of power unter these cars, and don't back them up with good tires.

    That's ok, it's nothing a set of Mickey Thompson Drag Radials won't fix.

  • Your thinking of the ls1 with 349. The new vette with the ls3 is 376 cubes. Making N/A 430hp. GM boys can always say well lets strap a S.C on our engines. Well we have with the ZR1, and we bust out killer times at the strip. The KR GT500 is 5.4 cubes yes it makes more hp but cant even come close the ZR1 times

  • corvette is lighter so there for doesnt take much power to move it but next year the 6.2l 428 cobra jet will be back so we arent worried about chevy

  • I love Mustangs espically this car and the GT500 but just what you said is why the GT500 can't compete with the Z06..suspension and being able to put all that power to ground..what good does 500HP if you can't use it? Think they need to widen, lower, lighten up and wider tires on the stang to compete

I had a mint '85 IROC-Z Z/28 5-speed Camaro, black and gold...so i've owned both too :)

  • Actually, when you do the math...the GT is a better bargain than the Roush. The base GT costs around $28,000 and does the 1.4 in 14:30. The Roush 427 costs $50,000 and does the 1/4 in 13:26. $20,000 for a one second gain??? Ripoff. I can think of better things to do with 20 grand.

  • or, you can wait 2 years, and buy the 427r for the same price as the mustang. Since Roush throws out newer verison's of his cars left and right, and in the eyes of a bank, a Roush is in no way different than a GT. (or insurance) they don't hold their value well because of that. I picked up a stage 2 Roush, with m90 charger added on at the dealer, and track pack from stage3 for 23k. $ to $ there are very very few cars that will beat it, that also offer an extended 85k mile warranty

  • You can get the Granatelli suspension package for the GT for just under 2 grand and have 1G lateral handling grip. That's right, a GT that can handle with a Z06 vette for 2 grand. Add a Kenne Bell mammoth for another 7 grand and you'll annihilate most supercars in a straight line or on a circuit.

  • I simply dont see why anybody would go with a roush mustang over a shelby gt500, same price range but you get stuck with 100 less hp and 100 less torque. I think the suspension MIGHT be better on the roush(not sure) but thats not worth the loss.

  • The suspension is $5000 better than the GT500. The GT500 is not worth the money for what you get. The Roush suspension almost makes spending the money justifiable.

  • Im not 100% sure on this but i think they improved the suspension on the 2010 shelby and didnt just stuff it with Hp and torque

    The GT500 balances underwhelming acceleration with underwhelming handling.

    The 2010 Roush, like the 2010 Mustang GT, makes it stick with less.

  • If you're serious about getting a beastly mustang you're going to get a gt500 then drop a nice after market suspension kit and braking system into it. That right there is a 6,000 dollar upgrade that will transform your car into something nobody will want to fuck with

    But I'm wayyyyyyyyy biased, lol. Huge GM fan, and my dad's a CTS-V (first gen) owner.

    I'd like to see what a proper handling GT500 is like though

  • The new cts-v is a GREAT car. I have no doubt in my mind it would have no trouble beating a gt500. Its also another 20k than the gt500 but non the less will smoke it. The cts-v will beat the BMW m5 which is incredible seeing that the cts-v is like 30k cheaper. your dad made a good choice. in my opinion Cadillac should have made the car look alot less like the normal cts

    I liked the old CTS-V's more restrained looks. Only people who really knew what they were looking at could tell what it was. And it's perfect for sneaking up on cocky kids in their imports or Mustangs, GTOs, Camaros, and Challengers and just laying waste to them (or keeping up with in same cases) their "Sports cars" or "muscle cars"

    The car produced 427 Horsepower with a ROUSHcharger system installed on the Ford Mustang GT 4.6L V8 engine.
