I live in Sweden where guns are restricted to law enforcement and if you got a license, which will be rare, guns are kept away from public. I have rarely heard someone got shot dying of a gun. Maybe I don't watch the news as often as i should do, but we do fine here without any guns.

Guns are outlawed in Australia. If you so much as lose your drivers license you are prohibited from gaining your firearms license for 5 years....yet There have been 10-15 illegal firearm deaths in about 10 years. thats 1 a year. more people get killed here by knives and other weapons than guns.

The DA and the narrator are both idiots. The Clerk grabbed the gun because his life was in imminent danger and decided it would be best to fight back rather then place himself at their mercy and hope for the best.

The graveyards are filled with victims who put up no resistance against their attackers. While the clerk's move was risky, you can't blame him for doing what he could to fight back. Surrendering to robbers also has risks and not resisting does not ensure you won't be harmed.

There are both cons and pros about surrendering and fighting.I guess its up to the victim to decide in a certain situation and decide if he has a oppurtunity to fight back or try to be calm and do what the criminals say.I also think it is likely they would not kill if you do what they say and once you have not seen their faces to identify them. :)

True, but the key point is that putting up no resistance does not ensure you won't be harmed, and authority figures should not claim that it does.

Also it's important to remember that you don't only face the risk of being shot on purpose, you also face the risk of being shot accidentally. Obviously, criminals usually don't follow the basic rules of gun safety, such as keeping their finger off the trigger until they are ready to fire. Any sudden noise or movement could result in a shot.

I agree with you and i want to add that majority of these criminals have no training with these weapons.I see this all the time on the news in my country.They sometimes kill them selves while "playing" with the fire arms.
