I don't think this is an accurate description of Sri Lanka's commercial capital , its true that there is chaos on the streets in some areas, but the authorities are working hard on development for the sake of those who live in Colombo and use the city roads.

Sri Lanka isn't a 3rd world country, before you comment its best you visit recognised sites based on country profile and see.

Colombo is fast becoming a well developed city for all Sri Lanka's and visitors alike. Cheers Visit Sri Lanka.

There are lot more DEVELOPED places than this in colombo..all those negative comments are by Tamil refugees & anti sri lankans..as the other guy said this is the indian part of colombo where tamils & muslims live..you see these kinda places even in London where Indians live..

what u see is the indian part of sri lanka....where majority tamils and muslims live.these areas r more likely out of governments control.this is just a little part of sri lanka....95% of the country is way too different.uploader definitely wants to create dis-reputation.sri lanka is a second world nation with 98%literacy rate.even 1st world countries have areas like this which r totally out of control.

Those Tuk-Tuk are really noisy and dangerous to take I think. Someone commented that this part of Sir Lanka shown in the vid is a slump rundown area , I dont see it as a slumpy area, it just seems like a busy town area, the heart of the hustle and bustle. I enjoyed it,it's refreshing to learn about other people's cultures. Awesome! Sir Lanka is beautiful all islands in the Indian Ocean are gorgeous. Mauritius , Rodriguez paradise!

yep..it is pettah not the more orderly subarbs...Kandy & Galle were caotic as well..however clean with ALL citizens going about there daily business..that's what makes it interesting..I never saw a accident or a pedestrian being hit in 3 weeks in july / august 2011...ALTHOUGH ALL VEHICLES MUST HAVE A HORN....COMPULSORY

Thank you explaning why you took that area. I have not lived in SL for more than 30 years and have not visited SL for the last 17 years. As I have watched many other coutries you tube stuff,and compared to most Asian countries, I noticed the difference. Our country is much cleaner and less people, even in the most busiest part of the Country..

Well the roads are very well maintained, hardly any pot holes or any dirt at all, on the roads, no accidents, it may look chaotic but there is an overall order about driving in Colombo. Its better than other developing countries.

weather wat u said under the description is true or not, im so glad u posted this video, i can careless about the upper class or developed area in colombo, this is where i grew up and i love ur video regardless how good or bad it portrays colombo, im so happy u posted this video i was there 2010 summer to and i miss that place and this video brought lots of memories back cuz u recorded pretty much all the place i went, hope to go back soon, thanks again for the video

This is NOT TRUE Sri Lanka. I can film all the ghetto parts in Los Angeles and make a video clip.Believe me you would not believe it. It is far more worst than the areas shown in this clip. There are 20 million people living in 65525(km^2) of land area. What do you expect the streets to look alike?If you go to Mumbai, Its far worst than here. Also in Dhaka. I don't know how can you define Dhaka as a city.Its so bad. Sri Lanka may not meet Singapore standards but it is getting there soon.

Sri Lanka is actually a 2nd world nation, if you didn't know and it's an awesome place to visit :) Really beautiful beaches, tea estates, waterfalls, temples, lots of safari places to see elephants, leopards, bears, deer, birds etc etc, Colombo is fun as well because you can see how all the cultures mix together sinhalese, tamil, muslim, christians etc all living together and all the history. It's a mad place all up. Hopefully now the war is over they can develop these run down areas as well.

This is NOT an accurate depiction of Colombo. I am very familiar with Colombo. You mostly show the run down poorer, ghetto areas such as the pettah bazaar, close to the central bus station & railway station & neglected the better developed areas of which only a few fleeting shots were shown. You obviously did not travel the whole of Colombo city
