Have always loved this song and Don McLean, got him to sign his double Around the World tour LP when he played Big Top Chataqua in Bayfield, WI. So nice to hear again his tunes on You Tube.
@MacSmiley They were fashionable in the '70s for real. when I was in grade school there was always a bomb threat in warmer months. I swear it was kids calling so us kids could be taken out of school for a long walk to our Designated Bomb Threat area.
Now that man is a professional. Bomb threat, interruption, doesn't miss a beat. That's how you do it.

I saw Don Live at the Tubador on Santa Monica Blvd- in 1972 .... He did this live of course- , we did not have a bomb scare -

Yes, there was the occasional bomb scare in the '70s, but very rarely any bombs.
