@PushkaCom For field recording, the included foam windscreen for the built-in mics is not very good. I bought a fuzzy windscreen from a company called Redhead. They make them just for H4ns! It works AMAZINGLY well! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
@musichistorynut hehehe ~ ~ I saw heaps of videos on YouTube ~ and I've already got one in the mail ` ~
well.. i got it on eBay, so may be from somewhere else - but same fuzzy-ness ~ ^__^
just uploading unboxing/testing ~ (i plugged it into my computer and recorded using H4n as a mike, but it was really bad ----- then i tried recording normally and it's fine...............hmhmhm~~
@PushkaCom Gotta make sure that if you are using Phantom Power, you are using the correct voltage. I ruined a shoot once by having 48v when all it needed was 24v. Not sure if that helps in your case. I use a Tascam FW-1082 as my main i/o board, so, I have not messed with the functions that the Zoom offers as an interface.
@musichistorynut ooh ~ I need to watch out for that ~ especially because i live in Australia, and we have different specs when it comes to power plugs.....
@SeeBillyRun You're welcome. I had never heard about the rice trick till someone mentioned it to me as I was on my way home from the shoot. I'm so thankful!
@musichistorynut I think the 3 days helped to make a difference because I just returned from a meeting with my uni' prof' & she was telling me about how she dropped her iphone in the toilet, she emphasized the toilet was "clean", & had to get it fixed. I then mentioned you, ha ha, & your vid/rice trick. She told me tried it, but it didn't work... BUT... she didn't leave her iphone in the bag for 3 days. She left it in the bag for only a couple of hours.
@SeeBillyRun Yeah - you really need to give it time. To my thinking, If it was going to make the difference of whether or not it worked, I was willing to wait for a week or so if needed. $300 is a lot of money for me. I am just so relieved it worked. You have to have a LOT of rice in the bag too. Pretty much enough to have the whole thing immersed in it.
@sk8ersick666 :) I nearly did drop helpless in tears, but I was in the middle of the river and had 2 more hours of shooting to do. Luckily, I can go back and do foley ANY TIME. I SHOULD have done a walk through with the camera and THEN did a second one just for audio. I've learned my lesson!!!
Thanks for the info!
