A little physical activity and some ownership to these problems is all it takes.

Nothing wrong with eating fast food, but seriously I don't know how people can eat so much of the same thing all the time. Just get outside and play some basketball, soccer, football, etc. with friends. Very easy problem to solve, but not enough people taking responsibility.

Please note that I am not addressing those that have medical conditions that cause them to be overweight.

I think the "war on childhood obesity" is a double-edged sword, unfortunately. It has become too focused on numbers, guidelines and restrictions rather than overall physical and mental health. Mandatory BMI screening in schools? What has this world come to? What happened to the days where kids were free to run about outside and enjoy being active with their friends just for fun's sake?

schools as well contribute, sitting in a desk for 6 hours a day. the kids WANT to be active, they LIKE recess. In teh past kids would be working on farms or such, and def not spending as much time sitting at desks. Schools should have DAILY P-Ed classes; when i was in school we were lucky to have it twice a week.

Lack of proper parenting is another issue that has to do with this I think. The price of fresh produce is to expensive. The weight problem is out of control in this country, but what the hell are we doing to solve this problem. It isn't all genetic, but it is frustrating to lose weight. We live in a society that makes it difficult for anyone with a less then fast metabolism. I know that I have to be conscious about what I put in my body. I know that had I lived 50 yrs ago, I wouldn't have to worry about this.

Then the united states food executives thought they could make more money by selling the additives to corporations of other countries.
