it looks like the spring just replaced part of the top tube, allowing the chainstays to flex, which will weaken the frame and make cracks if its aluminum.
@Merpsalot yes, I understand this, so I tested the bike with 0.5-1bar higher pressure and sidehopping 8 palettes felt so easy although the bike weighs 10kg. I can acctually use the spring.
ive been into trials properly for 8 months or so now and learning at a decent rate. everytime i pull something off i wish i was 10 years younger. im 33 in march. :-/
if you look at 0:45 u can see the place were the brakebooster is ussually, I think its a zoo cause I think at least one of the zoo frames has the same sort of filled up top, eitherway it could also be a selfbuild frame:P and he'll probably be laughin at us reading this:P,
how did u learn ive been practicing but ebery time i get the wheel at the right angle i hold the break and try to bounce but go back down also does it mater what gear you are in
for some reason i have both brakes on when the back wheel must be some involuntary action. try getting your front wheel on a lowish wall and hopping with both wheels then gradualy lean back a bit more to get the front up and off the wheel still hopping. you want a fast reacting hub too with lots of ratchets, makes all the difference or even better a fixed hub with free front for even more clicks.
I think 24 would be to small:P just not the right length to trial good I've had 20, modified 24 (cause u cant buy them in the store and a 26 and I like 24 most cause their easy to manouvre;)

I just cant figure out, why to make such things on TRIAL bike... TRIAL is all about pure work and performance of rider, not about better suspention...
oh my god! the ideas that they come up with high performance bikes are amazing now! it looks like it mainly helps alot on a side hop and maybe gaps too! you will be a very succsessful man!!!!:D
man... make some calculation and try to point out that this improves the quality of the ride and performance over all and then get a patent for it and sell it... i don't know if it's the first one but follow my advice... i think it's worth! good luck!
you mustn't look down to trIAl bikes... It's just a prototype made by myself. To determine the advantages/disadvantages of a frame with spring I had to make one. Now I think it can help to sidehop higher. It also makes drops softer.
ye made it out of a echo team 05 L. I made the pivot and link parts and the tool for holding the tubes together by myself and a good friend of mine welded it...
you're a pro, super smooth rider!!!

@treewizzard no, there is a bearing pivot I copied from nicolay helios freeride frame!

With the rear tire still low in pressure the air shock isn't really doing much anyway.

it looks sloppy, surely having a spring will take all the power out, i ride 26 and can sidehop stuff that size with no effort.

when you bounce on the back wheel do u hold the back brake or both
def90char 3 years ago
most people hold both brakes when on back wheel.
okram69 3 years ago
is that better for some reason? cause I only hold my back:P

it's a bit dumb cus the rest of the frame is solid, there is no pivot so the shock isn't doing anything and the frame is just more likely to break
Pleasenoshit 3 years ago
I do not understand... because it DOES have a pivot behind the BB, my feet just cover it.

I think that genre is called Dub Step...
okram69 4 years ago
it sounds great:D and about the touch of music, totally true, very deep sounds like a very strange kind of trance or psychadellic

tried it again today. not in best shape but 8 palettes sidehop no problem. there I think it's possible to jump higher with the rear spring.
okram69 4 years ago
so what are the benefits?
i see less frame/rim fatigue, and i like how the swingarm is designed so that there is no loss in preload when on the rear
