  • not too fast, not too slow. not too flashy, not too simple. not too loud, not too soft.

    This is just right.

  • @crankbv1 . If you do end up in the old folks home with a piano, I hope that's the one chosen for me too.

  • @rdr555 Many thanks for your reply my friend. Just been listening to your rendition of this classic. l have to say that your playing is very easy on the ear...l enjoyed it very much. Nice to hear someone who isn't out to prove how fast they can play, something that even Meade Lux Lewis fell victim to late in his career. As for the old folks home..now wouldn't that be something, albeit that Boogie Woogie Dream might flatten one or two pacemakers. Still..when you've got to go,you've got to go !

  • this guy is a genius !!!! he is a boogie woogie blues version of beethoven...

  • The guy on the foto at 0.57 minutes is not Albert Ammons, but Memphis Slim. Nonetheless, great number by one the founders of boogie woogie. Jörg Hegemann has indeed made a solo album as a tribute to Ammons, a real must have for every boogie fan.

  • Bloody Marvellous indeed

    the tempo is just PERFECT

There is something MAGIC about it

    By miles his BEST solo

  • I say again, totally brilliant. An all time classic.

  • Whereever you are Albert, this is cool. Really cool.

  • I love Albert Ammons and will always love him! I think there is also a german guy called Joerg Hegemann who plays like the Master and also recorded Chicago in mind - unforgettable!

  • For my money this is the greatest blues piano solo ever recorded. A wistful, melancholic air over a base of subdued power. Absolutely magnificent!

  • thank you for photos and music of course !

  • If you want to see Albert's hands at the piano, I suggest looking at the old movie on Swanee River boogie by Albert Ammons. 7.36 minutes (with Pete Johnson). He's actually playing Boogie woogie Dream in tyhe movie I think, but you get a picture of his technique. Some player ! The best.

  • Magnificent. Wish we could see Albert at the piano playing this. But I think it highly unlikely such footage exists.
