nice vid. im still a recruit of Sacramento Division and this gave me a good overview of how boot camp will be like. i better start gearing up and getting ready for bootcamp
not to be rude (I'm from Liberty Division so i'm not trying to insult anyone here) but at 8:01 what is that girl wearing on her collar?...is that an Army/Marines Private/PFC rank?...
@GoNavy95 - 8:01 - She is displaying E-2 Seaman Apprentice You are correct in pointing out that she should not be wearing a display of rank as a Recruit. In the USNSCC the recruit cadet must complete a 2 week recruit training before being promoted from E-1 Seaman Recruit to E-2 Seaman Apprentice. Army Rank E-2 Wings on the rank are down, Navy and NSCC rank the wings are up.
yeah I'm going to RTC this summer so I know how everything works...I didn't know that the wings on Army and Navy chevrons faced differently though, thats interesting...thanks for the info. Hooyah.
@diener2u Are those even authorized for wear on that? In action letter 08-05 it say its okay for BDUs and PO3 and above but i dont think you can wear that on utilities.
@figmaker -- You are the winner, AROC and APOC and a few other Recruits (Squad leaders and Guidon) are assigned and wear the gold coller devices on their uniforms temporarily during the Recruit training cycle. Good eyes Figmaker.
I about to join the Navy Sea cadets and i am really excited and ready to work my butt off and i would like to kknow is boot camp really hard cause my body is desant and sorta in shape but i am ready to prove to my whole famiy that i am alot stronger than i look and i want to prove to every one in school that is mean to me that i have true strength and i can do just as many things as they can
I am in something called Civil Air Patrol and I underwent a training period (encampment) which is just as hard. It is difficult...mentally and physically. Those days will be the longest of your life-16 hours and yes they are physical, but it is 90% mental and 10% physical. Work hard before you go and prepare yourself as best you can...there is no real way to prepare until you get there. Good luck in the sea cadets! One other thing-it is very rewarding in the end. Send me a PM-C/TSgt Labak
I went to boot camp- it is hard but not in the way you think. they cant drop you for pushups or get in your face, but if you mess up pretty bad they might punish you at PT the following morning. usually its just psychological drills like standing at attention for extended periods of time. i wouldnt worry about it, they are so restricted in what they can do it barely feels like boot camp, except for the 0500 reveille of course. good like and bravo zulu!
Good to see they haven't gone soft. Looks like you did your fair share of PT. I went to both Navy League and Sea Cadet bootcamp as a kid. I was in FDR squadron NAS Jax, FL in the 80's. We got to do the USS Buttercup damage control trainer at Navy League bootcamp in Newport, RI. Sea Cadet bootcamp was pretty hardcore, like 2 weeks of the real thing at RTC Orlando. Later I joined the Army and Basic / AIT was like summer camp for me. Not that it was easy just that I was well prepared for it. HOOAH
We do a lot of things. We get a felling of what life in the military s like. Have drill every other week and get to do awesome advanced trainings. ( go S.E.A.L.s!). And we get extra perks if we join th Navy (E-3 out of boot, advanced pay grade, high chance to be an officer ect.)
Im the ALPO of my division PO-2 waiting on my time for PO-1 but sea cadets is a outside school military program. During summers/winter breaks we can do advance trainings around the world (if u can pay for it) some of the trainings i went to so far. has been Boot Camp, (have to do it to be able to rank up and go to advance trainings) also ive done coast guard training, sailing training, POLA (petty officer leadership academy training: needed to rank up), and Helo Combat Weapon training.
did you get your BMR's done. I've been in for 3 months and got my BMR's and my seaman book done and now i'm an E-2. I have an academic ribbon too. The key to succes in Sea cadets is book work.
except for the fact sea cadfets are part of the navy and can get on military bases and we do advanced training such as seal, swxx etc. young marines arent even asociated with ctive duty marines . the sea cadets have active duty army, navy, and marines. also we can attend marine corps and navy ball
Yes but the young marines do train with the marines. We do everything the sea cadets do, i know because i am a sea cadet and a young marine. Except the young marines is a little more relaxed. But only by like a litle less advance trainings
not to be rude, but I'm pretty sure the cover for utilites (or at least in Liberty (AGTR-5) division) is the ballcap of your unit or a "RECRUIT" ballcap for recruits who havent been to RTC yet
i'm still kinda new to the program (joined in april) so i've never met anyone outside of USS Liberty and USS New York division (my division and one we drill with occasionally)
I remember staffing RTC as a senior cadet. Its a shame we didn't have the privilege then to wear B.D.U's, but I guess that decision is up to the COTC.
It's awsome that you guys actually get to shave your basics heads. Looks more hardcore than recent CAP encampments. I should probably have done Sea Cadets instead of CAP, though I'd never get all the knots...Anyway, keep up the good work
i was a rdc for the sea cadets last month for there bootcamp we did it on the uss hornet didnt care for the way it ran but its very good program im thinking about doing another every year now

The sea cadets overall is a good program. I am a Petty Officer First Class of the Mahan Division, Albany New York. It has given me so much since I joined back in 07. It strengthens you physically, mentally and emotionally. It provides challengers to help cadets get over themselves. And realize their true potential. The comraderie you experience when in is amazing. I have made many friends in my unit over there years. Anyone on here who is considering joining, PM me and I will explain more.
dont listen to gonavylax. if he knew anything he would know as follows:
by completing us navy sea cadet corps you qualify for E3 bonouse in navy, E2 in Marine corps no E3 in coast guard i do belive and E2 in airforce and army as well. obviously he's no clue.
join up tho, best thing i did, issued utilitys, class A/B, PT's and drills are fun, something about it makes youth excell and happy, just keep uniform itght and folds persice and everythign else i smooth sailin
ooh, really?! thanks! this really helps:] what are PT's? i really want to join now:] do they treat you like youre really in the navy, marine, etc? i want to join the air force or navy:]
sorry bout the long responce. definatly join up its crazy fun and 9.99999 times out of ten youll be treated like a worthwhile MAN. PT's refer to physical training, so PT's are your PT gear. its alot of fun and serves many great benifites out their to be grasped.
leaguer? hmm it must be different in Canada than in teh USA. i was a Cheif Petty Officer 1st Class which was the highest rank. besides the real officers. started at nothing. i have heard everything too. i was told to become the "disciplinator" it was good because we ahd some real asses there. it was good. tough but good. but you know what the best feeling is. when you are about to end the day, your feet are sore. your back hurts. and you get to eat dinner. and go to bed. that is all worth it.
Im going to the one in chicago this summer, itll be my first time. can someone tell me acouple answers. you dont have to be at the one by chicago though... Is the days hard? Why did they all have to stand up by there lunch? How long do you train for in the day, counting the exercise? and are they really strict like on movies? thank you
Dude i went in 8th grade and it sucked i dont know if it was because i was young but ur up "training" pretty much all day and the hard part is when your waking up at 5 am to get yelled at by some kid who thinks he is tought all ur freinds are having fun
Yes the days are hard but very rewarding. You have to wait to be ordered to take seats. We woke up at 0450 and did pt for 2 hour then taps was at 1000. yes my rt was strict. you can send me a personal message if you have any more questions
I went to boot camp last summer at Fort Jackson South Carolina and now im an E-2 about to be an E-3 in my unit. Im about to go to POLA training and im going to train with the Coast Guard. Im going to staff the Fort Jackson Boot CAmp this year. Boot Camp is the only thing about the Sea Cadets thats hard. And its really not hard as long as you dont let it get to you. The sea Cadets are a challenge but it is damn worth it. If you need info contact me about it and I will give it to you.
I went to Great Lakes (GREAT MISTAKES) for RT. It seems each RT has its own personality. At Great Lakes, we were with all the Navy recruits and we were trained by the Navy RDCs, some pretty hardcore guys and gals. Id say the overall personality of Great Lakes is urgency in education with attention to detail. It seems Belle Glade was more dedicated to PT than anything else. I wish they gave us more time than they did for PT at Great Lakes.

sorry bout the long responce. definatly join up its crazy fun and 9.99999 times out of ten youll be treated like a worthwhile MAN. PT's refer to physical training, so PT's are your PT gear. its alot of fun and serves many great benifites out their to be grasped.

I'm going to the 9 day RTC in Fort Lewis, Washington.
Ugh. I am so scared. Is it really as bad as people say it is??
I was a Leaguer for 3 years, and I have heard all the stories.
Oh, yeah.
I'm going to Washington because i despise the heat of California, which is where I live.

leaguer? hmm it must be different in Canada than in teh USA. i was a Cheif Petty Officer 1st Class which was the highest rank. besides the real officers. started at nothing. i have heard everything too. i was told to become the "disciplinator" it was good because we ahd some real asses there. it was good. tough but good. but you know what the best feeling is. when you are about to end the day, your feet are sore. your back hurts. and you get to eat dinner. and go to bed. that is all worth it.

Im going to the one in chicago this summer, itll be my first time. can someone tell me acouple answers. you dont have to be at the one by chicago though... Is the days hard? Why did they all have to stand up by there lunch? How long do you train for in the day, counting the exercise? and are they really strict like on movies? thank you

Dude i went in 8th grade and it sucked i dont know if it was because i was young but ur up "training" pretty much all day and the hard part is when your waking up at 5 am to get yelled at by some kid who thinks he is tought all ur freinds are having fun

all my instructors were tough
ConfederateTanker1 3 years ago
Yes the days are hard but very rewarding. You have to wait to be ordered to take seats. We woke up at 0450 and did pt for 2 hour then taps was at 1000. yes my rt was strict. you can send me a personal message if you have any more questions
ConfederateTanker1 3 years ago
I'm going to the same one...I was supposed in the winter though.
To answer your questions:
1)I'm sure days are hard...it's the military aspect
2)They are standing at attention before they are allowed to eat lunch
3)You train for a VERY long time
4)Why would you bring movies?

I went to boot camp last summer at Fort Jackson South Carolina and now im an E-2 about to be an E-3 in my unit. Im about to go to POLA training and im going to train with the Coast Guard. Im going to staff the Fort Jackson Boot CAmp this year. Boot Camp is the only thing about the Sea Cadets thats hard. And its really not hard as long as you dont let it get to you. The sea Cadets are a challenge but it is damn worth it. If you need info contact me about it and I will give it to you.

camp roberts 08 echo company
that was one hell of an rt and the best company too
one guy almost gets kicked out 3 times but got to stay because he didnt have a ride home
one guy got sent to the oceana hospital because a stall door got kicked into his face
we also all almost got dishonorably discharged for the actions of few even though it turned out to be a scare tactic
then we ended up whening drill comp

I went to Great Lakes (GREAT MISTAKES) for RT. It seems each RT has its own personality. At Great Lakes, we were with all the Navy recruits and we were trained by the Navy RDCs, some pretty hardcore guys and gals. Id say the overall personality of Great Lakes is urgency in education with attention to detail. It seems Belle Glade was more dedicated to PT than anything else. I wish they gave us more time than they did for PT at Great Lakes.
