  • UAW = U ain't Working

  • By the way, "us taxpayers" happens to include me.

  • TranCendenZ

Show me where that $74 includes retirement. If the company files bankruptcy the retirees retirement could be cut in half. How would you like to work for a company for 30 years just to have your retirement cut in half in your old age?

I maintain it's a plot by a handful of senators to try and kill the union off completely.

  • Bob Corker damn sure wouldn't give up any part of his salary, I have no idea why he thinks auto workers should give up some of theirs.

I think we need to make all of our government officials pay into social security and buy their own medical insurance coverage. You won't ever see that happening because they would not ever jepardize their benefits.

  • how can we support a bail out when the uaw workers make 50% more that the average american worker...i work hard for my money too and i'll be damned if i should help fund your greedy way of life.......

  • loopedr1: I agree.

UAW workers make $74 per hour (wages + benefits + bonuses), compared with about $48 per hour (wages + benefits + bonuses) for the workers manufacturing foreign cars in the United States. We poor taxpayers should NOT subsidize the UAW workers' $74 per hour total compensation!

  • I don't know where you got your information, but I'm afraid you are mistaken about the amount they make. They are kicking in benefits in the figure and you damn sure can't pay the bills with benefits.

Auto workers don't want your charity looperdr1, all they're asking for is a damn loan! Are you so dumb as to not realize the difference in a bail out and a loan?

  • ketrimp12: Part of that $74 is in retirement money. UAW workers are still getting all of that money, but some is at a later date.

It's not a loan. You're going to default, and us taxpayers are the cosigners.

  • damn sure you can pay bills with benefits....i pay 1200 a month for my families medical ins. because my employer doesn't supply it....if he did i would have an extra 1200 a month to pay bills with......

  • I believe you're putting the ass behind the cart! How can you spend something you don't have? The autoworker's insurance is paid for by the company, the employee doesn't get a penny of it. What's so hard to understand about that? The concept must be above your head!

  • what do you mean the employee doesn't get a penny of it( THATS WHY IT IS CALLED A BENEFIT)...i have to pay 1200 a month for medical that THEY DON'T HAVE TO...thats 24000 a year that i have to pay out to get that SAME BENEFIT. if some one gave me that " BENEFIT" i would be 24000 a year richer....sounds like a lot of pennys to me

  • I meant what I said, you can't pay bills with benefits. Maybe I should brake it down to your level...The company pays for the employee's insurance, but if they exchanged their insurance coverage for a raise in pay, then you could spend it on something else. If you don't ever have a need to use your benefits you can't spend them! Comphrende???
