Good lord! When that groove started, I broke out with the funky face spontaneously. You know...that face you make that looks like you smelled some stankin.
This is FUNKY!! How FUNKY?!?!
Funkier than a hundred unwashed asses in a wild onion patch!!!
MAN! Bro. I'd LOVE 2 JAM WIT YOU! WHAT A SOULFUL FEEL ON BASS. Man that's hard 2 find out here. Nowadays these brotha's just go OVER KILL ON THEM BASS GUITARS! I Guess that I'm too ole skool...LOL) G you kin holla at ole Texz anytime. And we can bring it bck! You Are THE TRUTH!!!! I'd come to Plainfield seriously! Checkout my vids :)
Man, you killin' that bass. Too damn funky. If you listen to the first 50 seconds, you'll notice the groove was the same groove used on Eddie's version of California Dreaming. Funny thing is I listen to Funkadelic's earlier stuff more than the Warner Bros. period. Much more soulful, not to take away from the latter, it's all funky.
the early funk from eddie was the best! even as he got better, i'll always remember the 1st time i heard him play back in 1968. nice baseline...what is it with plainfield? something in the water?
please don't connect eddie with p-funk too much. eddie WAS funkadelic and wil always be FUNKADELIC. he really didn't get into the p-funk operettas. and this isn't a putdown to p-funk, they had some amazing guitarists too!
i was never fortunate enough to meet eddie, but he seems like a very down-to-earth gentle human being. on top of that, his guitar skill are tight and unique. i can only imagine how lucky you felt to be one of his friends. it's too bad eddie got taken advantage of by people in the music business. i can only hope one day, i'll get to meet him and play a little bit with him.
the best bass ever

priceless bit of history, and yes, that is some kind of bass playing.
makes me think of the infinite variations of that R&B Funk groove that fueled Right Off, on Miles Davis Epic Jack Johnson.
whooooooooo!

I like the way this captures the urban flavor from the early 1970's.
