  • My husband converted. This was before I married him. Yet he never sticks to law. he always watches porn on saturdays and says he is "praying"

  • he is soo beautiful!!

  • Thats not true, there is no difference between an orthodox converted Jew and one born of a Jewish mother in any stream of Judaism.

Moses' wife was born a non-Jew....and she married the father of our nation.

There is no racial/ethnic component to Judaism even thought it seems like there is in the US bc so much of the makeup here is central/eastern European askenazim so they share traits commonly.

    Youre fine.

  • You look Much better with you Modern Orthodox jewish look... Gorgeous....

    Sincerely: a Christian Girl

  • judaism is such falsehood. no true religion can have ego and big-headedness as a part of it. u jews claim to be so holy that you believe that your ancestors were the prophets. for this reason u feel that u dont have to spread religion because you are apparently the chosen people and above others. you are a selfish people and are behind much of the wars today. u slayed the prophets unjustly, jesus eing just on of them, and even if u look at the followers of moses you see how ungrateful they were

  • Thank you for this. I'm 20 years old of French and Scottish descent, was raised in a Mormon and Protestant household, and am in the early stages of conversion myself (Though I've been studying Judaism for about 3 years, I just don't want to do something like this without committing to it)

This was something I was wondering myself, and I appreciate the link.

  • You speak the truth.

  • @March1921 Talmud explains the Torah. A 'goy' is a foreigner.

  • my grand parents eat pork in spain so "we" refuse the judaisim. now i want to come back im feeling like in a doble diaspora: form eretz israel and from judaisim. i wonder if im already a jew just for feeling this way and knowing im a decendant our the Patriarcs

  • that does not make you jewish if your mother is jewish then you are but ask a orthodox rabbi

  • I think she is David's grandmother. Are there any other conversion stories? Ruth is the only one I can think of.

  • Rabbi Akiva - who the foremost sage of the Talmud either converted himself or was the son of converts.

Satmer Chassidim come from converts as well.

Also, there is a book called The Kuzri. A king invites a rabbi, priest, and a Muslim cleric to debate religion. The Jew proves his the most authentic and the king and his entire kingdom (in effect) convert.

Converts have a very special role in Judaism. We are commanded to love them more and never to remind them of their past.

  • Rabbi means teacher. You sure sound like a good teacher to me. God bless you.

  • did ruth convert?

  • Ruth is a great example of the greatness that can come from converts and their amazing stories. In my opinion, converts have the highest level souls because they have to go through the most to get to the truth.

  • A fascinating point about Christianity and Judaism is that for Christians, Paul, not Christ, obviated the Law. Jesus said to follow the Law, although he was not perfect in it's observance. I have asked Christians about why we follow the teachings of an apostle as opposed to Jesus himself. Also if God is perfect, then why two covenants? He is omniscient, all knowing; he doesnt make errors. In short, there is much to be sceptical about--ergo I am not religious. I love your videos

  • You want to know something really personal - I'll have no problem telling G-d He's not perfect after 120 years.

Think about it - the Zohar states he created and destroyed the world 6 times (in another place it says 1,000 times). Why would a perfect entity have to create and destroy?

He says about Himself that He is a jealous G-d. Is jealousy a trait of perfection? Not in my book.

I know it sounds heretical, but that's how I feel.

  • So you wouldn't mind if a future wife of yours slept around? Seems like a conclusion from the pagan Philosophers, rather than an opinion supported by the Tanakh.

Secondly, I don't understand this picture you paint of an intended convert going from Zero-to-Sixty in 1 day. Why shouldn't he practice these things so that when he does convert it isn't a comedy of errors?

  • I don't judge people on based on their past.

A person is who he is today, not yesterday. I would not tolerate infidelity from my wife, but I have no problem with anything in her past. What's done is done and Hashem surely believes in teshuva - so do I.

My point is that to practice keeping the law doesn't make sense to me because he is not required to practice it.

Learning about it, though, is a separate issue.

I'm sure you know the gemmara that a goy who keeps Shabbos is ch'i'av misa!

  • Yes, I've heard that ruling in words to the effect "...is not to observe Shabbat in exactly the same manner that the Jewish people do." Given everything that Shabbat observance encompasses, I don't imagine that there are many goyim who are keeping it perfectly, even when they are trying. For example, my fridge light comes on when I take out my food.

  • (cont'd) But to go from not observing Shabbat at all (working and recreating on that day) to observing it completely the next Shabbat after conversion is finalized? I can't imagine it without prior practice.

  • I am very friendly with many converts. I love them the most even though we have to love all Jews (and all people).

And they report the same thing time and again - once you know the laws, observing them all at once is no big deal. Often times these people spend Shabbos with Jews and see what goes on.

It's not that complicated once you see what it is in real life. Add that to the learning, and you're all set.

  • Logically, that testimony does not necessarily mean that they are advocating going from Zero to 60 in 1 second.

And who "knows the laws"? It takes a man all his life to perfect his way.

Josephus suggests that one of the men in the family of Queen Helen of Adiabene was already observing some parts of the Torah, but had not yet learned about circumcision. He met a Jewish teacher who told him to read it, right then, and then after he did, he told him to undergo it, right then.

  • @minorityop With your dedication to G-d you can achieve this.

  • The Song of Songs is beautiful.

  • It's a little racy for my liking, but the as a piece of poetry, it knows no competition.

I still can't believe the rabbis put it in as part of the canon.

The most beautiful thing is to compare the fact that this is part of our canon yet X-ians feel the holiest amongst them (priests) should abstain from marital relations.

This is one thing I can't understand or justify.

In my opinion, it's this that leads to sexual child abuse in the Church. You can't fight human nature forever.

  • In Christianity, the Christ is the groom and the bride his church

  • Hey thanks a lot for the video reply! I'm fairly knowledgable on jewish belief, mainly because I started out a Xian and after many months of studying I came to be where I am today. As far as hebrew, i've made attempts but have been getting lazy. I know the aleph bet and some basic words/conjugations, but have a long way to go in learning biblical hebrew. Anyways I like your advice on learning jewish law more than practicing, and I intend to do that. Now one thing I wanted to get your(TBC)

  • thoughts on were certain things such as the midrash. I noticed when reading there were many ideas presented as central that I never really got a sense of from the bible. Things such as demons and the active role that they play. Just wondering what your thoughts were on things such as demons. Anyways, thanks a lot for the speedy advice and reply!

  • I am making a video response to this question entitled "The Torah and Midrash" I hope you enjoy it...
