  • One question...

Why do all people jump with their left leg???

I am the only one in my class who jump the the right leg... :(

  • @xXEisteeholikerXx For the same reason that most people write with their right hand, they are just wired that way!

  • @billhj2 But some of them are right hand and right foot just like me.

They still jump with the left foot... I don't understand...

  • tia hellebaught <3

  • one word...beautiful

  • Verry, Verry intresting video !

    This is good job !

  • Thanks for posting this amazing collection of clips! I personally consider high jumping as the most beautiful, elegant and flawless expression of human sporting endeavor. Watching a perfect body elevate itself and flow across a bar is simply poetry in motion!

  • They are all great! Bravo. But Stefka is the best of all time. And Hestrie Cloete had the most memorable style!

  • 24 years unbeaten!!! We are proud of you Stefi!

  • Blanka Vlasic from Croatia is so after her...she has jumped 208 already! :))))

  • The great bulgarian woman :|

  • Most fun track event in my opinion. :D

  • Ty a Bulgarian wins it! I'm proud of my country....

  • Nice compilation. Maybe it would be nice to add the women's names so they don't remain anonymous ! (Ok, except Konstantinova, the legendary WR holder...)

  • Wish i could do that....

  • beautiful

  • wow is it just me or does women's high jump look more elegant than men's? i just love women's jump so much better! xD this is a wonderful comp!

  • Thanks for that wonderful video!!! Very great!

  • You should have also shown Rosemarie Ackermann, first woman over 2.00, seven times WR setter, and last of the great straddlers.

  • @broadjumper1 Updated video shows Rosie Ackermann at the start.

  • 23 years ago.. stefka made the WR.. 23 years of story, 23 of glory.. she was the best.. and she is still the best!!.. W Bulgaria!!..

  • wonderful music, and heike henkels 2.07m at 3.58 looks so easy, she was so great...

  • OMG at 2.20 that woman is soo skinny my days stick thin !!

  • she's Tia Hellebaut of Belgium, she beat my idol Vlasic in the 2008 Olympic, and grab the gold medal!

    she's fantasy!

  • Bonjour.

Je me souviens de ce concourt, c'était magnifique, quand la belge réussissait son saut, la rage qu'elle avait.

  • Bud Blanka Vlašić now have 208!!! =)

  • Blanka Vlasic from Croatia will be the new WR holder@ 2.10 . I predict it'll happen pretty soon.

  • @kiwi221 Hi from Romania! Blanka is a great athlete! Go, BLANKAt oday in Europeans!

  • e Antonietta Di Martino?

  • I know...I regret not putting in Di Martino's 2.03m from 2007 Worlds Champs. Sorry too late to change now :(

  • @CinepimastiaMC Do you know the short russian female at 2:50 who cleared 2.06m? That was impressive

  • @rcacad Slesarenko olympic games 2004

  • @rcacad Yelena Slesarenko I think it is...

  • @CinepimastiaMC 2.04

  • good video :)

  • Stefka Kostadinova is number one from 22 years. Amazing!!! Bulgaria is proud of YOU.

  • :54 shows uncertainty????......1:18 shows complete bliss!!!

  • it is what the song ?

  • Everyday by Carly Commando

  • I've never been able to find footage of Bykova's world records, hence her non-inclusion in this video. Gee how clueless of me...

  • anyone who dares post videos of world records in high jumping leaving out the 3 world records of Tamara Bykova from 2,02 to 2,05 is clueless about women's High Jump....

  • Who is the woman at 0:37? :D Nice

  • That's Yelena Yelesina, she won the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

  • Nice, thanks :-)

  • KAJSA!!!! SWEDEN

  • great vid, thanks for posting!

  • very nice!!!!!

  • nice video man!!

  • And thanks for a superb compilation.

  • that is not the biggest jump i saw a video that was even like 8 yards... i learned it in p.e. class

  • What do you mean you saw a jump that was "like 8 yards"? I highly doubt that.

  • It was for the longest jump in the world

  • Henkel is by far the best high jumper of all time. this video doesn't do her justice enough.

  • Ahem, no. She won a single Olympic title and dominated for a short period of time. The lengthy careers of Balas, Simeoni, Meyfarth or Kostadinova are more respectable.

  • Aha, as a well respected expert in the International high jumping world i am adequetely qualified to call her the greatest of all time bar none. your elementry knowledge of what it takes to be a world class high jumper or a high jump critic for that matter may be better used commenting on an athletic blooper compilation. Thank you.

  • Wow, excuse me "well respected expert in the international high jumping world", but Henkel was big just between 1989 and 1992, then disappeared. And if you read what plenty of other "well respected experts in the international high jumping world" say and write, they sure as hell name Balas and Kostadinova ahead of Henkel. Don't be so arrogant.

  • Amazing, extraordinary!!...Kostadinova number 1

  • a few of these women they jus barely glide over the bar which is simply amazing

  • Can't understand why no one have broke the world record since Stefka..

  • What is the name of this music?

  • 'Everyday' by Carly Commando

  • Is it just me or does it sound like Umbrella by Rihanna?

  • just you

  • Comment removed

  • u fuking moron...umbrella...

  • Stefka Kostadinova the BEST !!!

  • Too bad Hellebaut quit... a lot of potential there, especially after seeing her 2,05m at the European Indoor in 2007. She jumped 1,99m (being the only left in competition), then jumped 2,01m, 2,05m and then attempted world record 2,09m and got close... that was simply impressive, !

  • I dare say an outdoors European title and an Olympic gold are more impressive and I'm sure Tia herself thinks the same.

  • I absolutely agree, but I think if she had had competition from Bergqvist or Vlasic that night, the world record might have been history...

  • You're probably right. However, and I assume this is a very personal opinion, records are meaningless: it's gold, and above all Olympic gold, that counts.

  • records that cannot be beaten for more than 20 years have to be worth something

  • True but it depends on which era we're talking about. With the exception of Kostadinova's, all women's records dating back to the 1980s should not be taken into account as they were clearly drug-aided. Then again, I'm sure Kostadinova herself would call gold in Atlanta the highlight or her career, or that WR holders like Kipketer or Powell would exchange their records for an Olympic gold medal.

  • In a period which was so rife with doping, what makes you sure Kostadinova's record is clean as opposed to the others you accuse? As much as I like to think she's clean, I find it hard to believe.

  • Oh, you're probably right. I doubt Stefka was clean, esp. given how widespread doping was at the time in general, and in Bulgaria in particular (Bulgaria is still infamous for its doping scandals). The reason why I singled out Kostadinova is because, after all, she still had a brilliant career after the fall of the iron curtain, unlike 95% of her cheating contemporaries. But yes,I should have made it clear Stefka is also suspicious.

  • Anyone remember then russian jumper who had a suspension. She had a very agressive jumpingstyle. She competed at a relatively high age.

  • i think it was Tamara Bykova, she took the silver medal in Helsinki 1983 and again behind Kostadinova in 87

  • Oh yes you are right on that ericnernie! Thank you so much!

  • Chaunte Howard has NO business being in the same category as these women. She hasn't jumped an American record or won a gold medal, let alone set a world record.

  • Also, you're completely missing American record holder, Louise Ritter, twice having jumped 2.03m, the last clearance coming on the 4th attempt jump-off at the '88 Seoul Games to win the Gold Medal over Stefka K.!

  • I know she doesn't have the same pedigree as the other jumpers, i just really like her style. Not many others can attack the takeoff that well. By the looks of that 2m clearance though she could well go much higher in the future.

  • wow, this is great! And the music fits perfectly!

  • great job! well done!

Yelena Slesarenko was just amazing in 2004 as was Hestrie Cloete in 2003!

but Stefka is still the #1!

  • wow vlasic was someway over 2.07... im sure 2.10 will come for home soon!!!

  • Nope, doesn't look like happening. Especially since her last performance.

  • wow amazing !
