If you touched the trigger hairs on the inside it would close as if there was a fly there but if you keep doing that the leaf from the plant will die as they only close a few times then die and a new leaf will take it's place. It takes a lot of energy for the trap too close so better having an insect in there so the energy is not wasted, :-)
