@oneslifesadream I know you are being flippant, but be glad at what you have, what you have done and what you still have to offer. Ill bet its worthwhile.x
@oneslifesadream Fair-dos mate. The trouble with youtube is that I read and respond late at night, having consumed maybe just a little whiff of alcohol, and, as I just realised with my response to you, can become all sanctimonious and arse-holey. I was under ten during the 70s. In my 30s now, I am determined to embrace the future with interest and excitement. I recommend Jamiroquai to help you embrace the old and new! X
@123jsbach No worries mate, my drink of choice is red wine and it can have the same effect on me.
I was 16 when this movie came out and I first saw it in a church hall as part of a youth group. As close to a religous experience as I've ever had in my life. Wonderful memory.
I don't mind Jamiroquai, but funny, my 19 year old daughter can't stand him. Youth today can be so opinionated sometimes, not like in our respective days. lol
@oneslifesadream Ah well! Personally I think Jay-Kay is the man of the last 10 years. Gotta love that groovy bass line. Stylistically not a stones throw from JCsuperstar in my opinion. Peace and love and all things groovy! X
All I know i saw him live in new jersey in the play as jesus christ and he was fantastic !!! my faith in my religion is only stronger because of his performance!!! he makes me have chills with his voice!! He is better than any preacher that i have ever heard...I love the movie but seeing him live was the best ... he will always represent what christ was all about in my eyes...thank you
My favorite movie of all time...I'm not religious, just completely entranced by Ted Neeley's voice (and I've had a crush on him for 35 years). Saw him live --- overwhelmingly powerful, had to catch my breath at times.
No matter how many times I see this film, hear it's sound track... this still brings shivers to my spine, goosebumps to my skin and hairs on my neck stand up. And tears begin to form in my eyes.
I'm sorry, but no one can compare to Neeley singing this.
I'm a HUGE fan of this film, and even the prior stage singers, and those who attempt to sing these songs now have no where near the feeling that these actors portray.
People will say that the original cast are better, but this is what I know, grew up with, and I get goosebumps watching it, every time.
If you were Jesus Christ, questioning your father's plans for you, you wouldn't take it lightly, you would be pissed, asking why.
great singer indeed i love this song above all songs in this movie...the real star is Jesus Christ who was the man who actually gave his life for all human kind like it or not.
Saw him recently in Quebec City at the Capitol theater. He's older now but he still has the sensibility in his voice. Really grat performer. He made me cry when he sand that song. Very impressive after all these years.
@sneezie24: Not goat---lamb, man, lamb. He's playing the Lamb of God, remember?
LOL. Just kidding. I love how Ted sounds here, even if it does sound like "bleating" to some. If you take away the screaming (or bleating, as you call it), the performance would be too "pretty". You need to be extremely raw to do justice to this part of the story.
@aleven1 sorry man...I love Ian Gillan´s voice but this song belongs to Ted, Ian´s version let me down, I expected much more in his performance...look at Ted: There is heart, soul, mind, blood and guts in his singing, he stills makes me cry, even though he is an old man.
@cjironm discordo. a versão do Gillan me emociona de verdade. Aquela sim me faz chorar.
i actually prefer his version on the Jay Leno (Tonight Show) that used to be up and posted. now only a clip remains. 20 some years later and this man could scream beyond belief. He is one for this song.
Ted when his voice was young and supple was really special. And he can still give an amazing performance of this song at age 64. What a monster talent.
Actually Ian Gillian the singer for deep purple was the jesus in the original recording of the album. Ted Neeley is the guy in the movie. Both are amazing singers. Just thought I'd clear that up because it used to confuse me too.
The best!! The freaking Best!! This voice ... even Ian Gillan struggled here and Ted, his voice was just amazing!! Will never be forgotten, best song from JCS!!! RESPECT! btw, where are the new rockers with voices even distinctly reminding this one ... ?
Salu2...
