I imagine as soon as this interview was over she wept like a baby. Anyone who has been faced with the full force of a pissed off Ezra Levant could possibly be shaken for life. The look on her face is so classic... she had completely shut down and knows any response she gives will only bring on another torrential display of indisputable fact she therefore resorts to the shortest and least provocative answer imaginable "Okay".
@wheelzwheela actually, I'll bet she reacted in a very minimal way to Ezra, that is until the video went viral that weekend and she started to receive feedback on her 'big brother' ways. I would bet that she has heard even harsher responses from those that she's interrogated in the past, but those "interviews" were not recorded and/or posted to youtube.com. But I will say that Ezra's responses to her Orwellian ?'s were probably some of the more thoughtful and provacative. I love you Ezra!
Well, there goes your Order of Canada Ezra. I'll wager that the only time this vassel of pinkoism ever earned her days pay was when Ezra applied his education to her. Indeed, this is truly her 15 minutes of fame and if I had a chance I would like to turn it into 30.
He has the audacity to call her a thug, who calls a woman who is sitting behind a desk a thug? who growls at a woman doing her job... oh yeah a cowardly Zionist who gets others to fight and die for his cause
@tdot22 Anyone who sits in judgement on the expression of the thought, knowing well that the coercive powers of the state are behind them, is a thug. If I interrogate you with a gun to your head as my ultimate source of power, I am a thug.
@Myndir ... Really? So where was your indignation when David Ahnekew was prosecuted for his expression of thought? where was your outrage when Ernst Zundel was charged, stripped of his citizenship and deported because of thought? Where was your outrage when David Keegstra was prosecuted and villified because of his thought? where was your sense of outrage when Malik Zulu Shabazz and George Galloway were not allowed to speak!? Spare me your hectoring, you are a hypocrite!
@Myndir ... How come? If you express outrage over a principle being violated, that should be manifest in all forums, not just for Islamophobes. So when you voice your opinions defending Islamophobes but are silent vis-a-vis Holocaust deniers, or Anti-Zionists, you are hypocritical.
@tdot22 Thugs can't sit behind a desk? She's a thug because she has the power of the state on her behalf and can take his freedom and imprison him because he says things she doesn't like. If you don't see the thuggery there then you're simply not looking.
@darwinkilledgod .. Has any violence been inflicted upon Ezra Levant? I will ask you the same question that I asked another poster, where was your outrage when David Ahnekew, James Keegstra, Ernst Zundel, were also put through the same process? The law is the law if it applied to those, it should also apply to Levant, do you know who Levant reminds me of? that slimy little eloquent rich kid in school we all knew that would spread half-truths, and was a favorite among teachers but hated by peers.
@tdot22 Violence has been inflicted on Ezra in as much as the government threatened him with incarceration and the confiscation of his wealth. Even though the charges were dropped he's still out thousands of dollars to pay for his defense. If someone puts their hand in my wallet and takes my money knowing that I can't do anything about it because they're armed... I'd call it a thug.
I don't know who those people are. If they were investigated for their ideas I'll happily be outraged for you.
@darwinkilledgod Oh you will be outraged for me, but not the principle? If you are an ardent defender of free speech and freedom of expression you should be abreast of all people who have had to bear the brunt of the power of the state, and what you see happening to Levant is nowhere near the torment the mentioned individuals had to go through. Why don't you ask yourself why you don't know of them? Research their "crimes" and the punishment brought down on them and then opine.
@tdot22 It's hard to be genuinely outraged over three names told to you on youtube that you never heard before with no details. You're welcome to share if you like. The bottom line is, saying "other people had it worse" doesn't make me any less outraged that the Canadian government is censoring people with the power of the state. I'm not sure what you're point is. When a cop shoots an innocent person saying "the Holocaust was worse" doesn't seem like an interesting point.
@darwinkilledgod .. first of all NOTHING happened to Levant, he was brought before a tribunal where he was free to provide his side of the story he was allowed to film the proceedings, and then walk out. THE OTHER GENTLEMEN DID NOT HAVE THAT LUXURY, They were jailed, fined and stripped of their citizenship. Levant is celebrated for asserting his constitutional rights in the media, & that is how you know of him yet you never heard of David Ahenekew, Jim Keegstra or Ernst Zundel? Google & Opine.
@tdot22 Levant was FORCED to appear and did have to pay that expensive looking lawyer to his right. Something did happen to him and the fact that you can't see that is very bizarre. He also faced the prospect of being heavily fined or imprisoned. The fact that they dropped the charges is good, but doesn't erase the stress of the entire ordeal.
@darwinkilledgod You have not addressed the fact of David Ahnekew, Jim Keegstra, or Ernst Zundel, when you "the great defender of free speech" Google them and read what happened to them and let me know what you feel about them and how they should be now dealt with, I will agree with you, OTHERWISE THE LAW IS THE LAW YOU CANNOT APPLY IT SELECTIVELY, He should have had to bear the brunt of those people but why he didn't we can discuss once you research the other gentlemen.
@tdot22 The law is an abomination and violation of natural law. It shouldn't be applied at all, let alone selectively. I have no trouble believing that other people have been the victim of an aggressive state. But the idea your peddling is silly: that because other people have been the victim of a tyrannical state therefore this guy should be too... Nonsense. The Imam that brought the complaint is caught in a lie, and shouts like fanatic in protest to Ezra's truthful complaints. Naturally, posting comments has been disabled.
I'm so sick of explain myself to ppl [Not that I have to] that I just quit.
If someone calls me a Racist [for whatever political view they are trying to mold in such a way as to win their argument by calling me names] I just simply say yes I am [even though I'm really not] just to shut them up.
in response to a book discussing the rise of the evangelical infuence on the conservative party, Exra went on a rant about how it is the Jews that are taking over, not the Christian, and it is the Jew we have to look out for. Although I don't see why this complaint came before the commission, Ezra is one sick fuck.
Oh.You Israel .You thief their land, you thief the honour of their sisters, you thief the future of the young children of Palestine, you thief their hopes and aspirations, you thief their self respect, you thief their dignity and when they die you thief their organs , if you could you would steal their soul. You cannot take anything that does not belong to you or without the permission of Palestinians . Everything about this abhorrent occupation and occupier makes the whole world against you.

@CoolDojo9000 Great idea - the courts would have laughed the imam who filed this tripe out of court, and saddled HIM with the costs, rather than Mr. Levant.

He wields that word fascist rather carelessly it seems. Nice to hear someone speak his mind well either way... But what of tact? No empathy, no transcending an ageless problem just an offensive reprisal? What is this alternative to marginalization he is so vehemently defending?
The reason you are allowed to express your opinion about this man and his words is being threatened by CHRC tribunals section 13. Cutting out a mans tougue will not remove hate from a mans heart. Did you listen to anything he said? Did you understand anything he said.
Speaking of censorship! One has to be tactful in approaching subjects that others are are dead set in their opinions of. Lest they be censored (by youtube or ezra himself) for being able to ask questions that that woman could not. Misuse of the word fascist by one as educated as Levant is a subversive attack against the equality that defines Canada. I apologise for contributing to conflict but Ezra you are not motivated by benevolence.
Since when does one have to be motivated by benevolence to exercise their right as a Canadian Citizen? . BTW there is no equality in Canada - some are more equal than others - if you are Caucasian, Christian and male you must watch your tongue, but if you are a Muslim and dark skinned you can offend Christians or Caucasians with impunity consider Little Mosque on the Prairie produced by state TV . Minority groups have more rights than majority groups. Hypocrisy - pure & simple.
Well I guess the jews learned long ago either its marginalize or be marginalized.
So Ezra prints cartoon... A certain number of people are influenced to have negative and perhaps dangerous precepts concering a certain group of new Canadians... Good work Ezra! Way to pick up where George W left off. Sadly Conservatives favour Immigration of the marginalized. The economy needs(!) cheap labour. Consumer markets are flooded. Dont let them out compete you! People need to feel safe!
It is not competition when immunity and pass go collect $200 cards are handed out to one group while the other group is consistently given a go directly to jail card - without collecting $200 for passing go. What gives ppl dangerous ideas about certain groups is the fact that they blow innocent ppl up to get their point accross.
This chick had no idea she was dealing with someone who had a brain, conviction, and no fear of expressing his rights as a free Canadian. I love this guy!!
To all free nations....."The very aim and end of our institutions is just this: that we may think what we like and say what we think" OWH..... or how about this..."If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all."Chomsky...
Ezra is completely right here. In fact, if the government is supposed to protect anyone in this case, it's Ezra and HIS right to free speech. It's HIS rights that are being threatened, as opposed to this dirtbag imam's emotions (there are no rights regarding emotions)!
Her name is Shirlene McGovern. She hadn't even read the article she's interrogating him on. She's since left the CHRC and has apparently gone into private practice.
This busybody had no idea of the Mac truck that was about to run her over. Before, it was just going to the office to her cushy job, comfy chair, and intimidating any schmoe who happened to say something un-liberal. I'm sure she was freaking out by having someone resist 'her' way of thinking. That's the way it is with thought police: they just can't imagine that someone would actually not accept their bureaucratic tripe and roll over. Sort of like the Warsaw Ghetto uprising against the Nazis.
Now I know why all the Hollywood libs wanted to run to Canada when GWB was in office. They should have. They'd find a home there easy. Oh, Canada.....

Mr Levant pretends not to answer to the state and accuses its agents of being thugs because he instinctively knows that the government's authority ultimately emanates from its weapons, which he would hate to see turned against him; but he forgets that his freedoms emanate from the very same weapons wielded by the very same government. Deep down, it's ludicrous.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I didn't say it comes from the government, I said it emanates from the *weapons* wielded by the government. The freedom Mr Levant cares NEEDS the complex machinery that's ultimately held in place by gun-toting real thugs some steps behind the metaphorical "thugs" he rails against.
And please don't take me wrong. I think Mr Levant is right. I'm a great advocate for hypocrisy. Civilization is simply not possible without it. But I'm sometimes surprised at how far it can forget itself.
Really? Is that why people go to jail for selling bongs or get charged for selling sex toys? There are great vids on here right now showing people getting their property taken by the authorities in Texas. And how 'bout that Patriot Act? Yeah we have problems here but so do you guys.
In the sense that they can lock you the fuck up for bullshit, yes. But if you wanna talk speech, Max Hardcore just got How many years for making dirty movies?
You are wrong. Ezra is absolutely right. He doesn't "pretend" anything. He has said that the state does not have the right to judge him on his motives for publishing something. The state is in the business of attending to protecting people, not harassing them.
If he doesn't pretend to answer to the state, then why is he answering to the state in this video, telling them why he doesn't answer to them, which is basically telling them his reasons for doing what he did, ie, answering to their demands for an explanation. If he's saying "I don't give the state the right to tell me what to do", then why is he present at this meeting at the request of the state? Obviously, he knows he HAS some answering to do.
He is showing up at the hearing; but he is stating that he is not allowing the state to police his thoughts. The government has no business interfering in freedom of the press. No business interfering in religious discussions, or anything philosophical. The courts should be the ONLY entities permitted to do this. He's not "pretending" anything. His showing up at the hearing just means he's going through the process, and he hopes that it ends up in court. He could just refuse to go, I suppose.
No - he's exposing the fact that this is abuse. The 'weapons' of the HRC aren't going to go all that far, if it ends up in court, and is exposed nationally and internationally.
Citizens in western countries will ultimately lose all their freedoms if governments continue prosecuting their own citizens for "offending" minority immigrants who are, in most cases, GUESTS in their countries. This politically correct bullshit has already gone way too far. The West needs to man-up and make it clear to immigrants of all nationalities and religions that they can stay if they abide by western laws and make some effort to assimilate. But if they won't, then GET THE FUCK OUT.
Levant deserves a medal for his eloquent defense against the HRC and the saint-like restraint he exhibited by not telling this fascist cunt to shove her questions up her ass. The case cost him 100k in attorneys' fees and his personal freedom was put on trial by the govt at the whim of a Muslim scumbag. I can't believe there wasn't enough outrage about this to shut down the fascist HRC for good.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I am not highly offended... LOL ... I don't think that this Mr. Levant should have been prosecuted in this case but I still think that his behaviour is very unprofessional and I don't appreciate the notion that he is proud to offend other cultures or individuals. I think that he is only sensationalizing the issue for his own gain through this inflammatory and daft tirade. He could handled the matter in a much more professional matter.
Levant was sued in a civil case filed against him by HRC in which he faced financial liability for editorial decisions at his magazine. The useless fat-ass across from him is an agent of Canada's govt and she has the authority to assess whether Levant's "intent" in publishing an article critical of Islam warrants a ruinous damages award (in addition to 100K in attorneys' fees this case cost him). And you think his behavior is unprofessional? Are you fucking kidding me? YOU DON'T GET IT FOOL.
Religious absolutism endangers freedom of thought. Theo Van Gough, Geert Wilders, and Ezra Levant understand the ideals of free speech. The comission, without convening this hearing should have issued the following statement: "Even if we do not agree with what someone says, we must defend their right to say it. Thank you for your complaint. Goodbye."
Are you that dumb, or that evil? This is about BASIC RIGHTS. I have the right to free speech, you have a right to go cry. If you're offended, too fucking bad. And, Mr. Levant said nothing about Muslims in general, only those who are pushing this fascist censorship on him.
Richard Warman has won all ten of the cases he has brought before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT),[26] and two more have been successfully mediated after the individuals had left the neo-Nazi movement and renounced their beliefs.
Levant is unquestionably correct in his statements.
It really breaks my heart to know that anyone should be have to endure this show trial/nonsense. The fact that it is occurring in a Western nation is much worse.
Levant is the man. he is completely correct in his rights. the HRC are thugs and should have no authority to do this to anyone. the freedom of speech is a tool that individuals should always have in order to defend against tyranny, suppression of rights, and other injustices.

If you watch the video closely it seems like the entire thing is an act, the way he's moving his hands for the camera and IVe never seen a goverment agent so quite in my life.
If I remember correctly, Levant requested that the proceeding be recorded. I'm not sure how you figure that any of this was "an act." Levant was being chased by that phony HRC and had to explain himself to that phony HRC.
u muslims suck..why cant you just integrate like all the others who come to canada, the blacks, europeans, asians ect.multiculturealism is a scam.not gpnna work.not over my dead body.
Ezra, I don't agree with your political stance on pretty much anything, but I will certainly be contributing to your defence fund and hope that you are the instrument that brings the HRCs down.
I hope Mr.Ezra had clearance from Govt of Canada to present himself in to legislative process of US congress, obviously it was meant to have some perspective on image or laws/rules in Canada.
Though Employees of HRC Canada have broader fraternity/immunity under UN Charter of Human rights/treaties, as well as to serve as visionary torch for Canadian house of commons to suggest, amend, include or delete any piece of legislature.
Here is what Canadian Statesman Mr.Ezra said in U.S. Congress's bi-partisan human rights caucus on July 11, 2008.
"Publish annual reports shaming foreign countries for their abuses of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Put Canada on that list, to let our government know what they're doing isn't acceptable."
Having regard to US legislative process,"Fixhist" feels moral responsibility not to comment on this issue any more.

in response to a book discussing the rise of the evangelical infuence on the conservative party, Exra went on a rant about how it is the Jews that are taking over, not the Christian, and it is the Jew we have to look out for. Although I don't see why this complaint came before the commission, Ezra is one sick fuck.

He wields that word fascist rather carelessly it seems. Nice to hear someone speak his mind well either way... But what of tact? No empathy, no transcending an ageless problem just an offensive reprisal? What is this alternative to marginalization he is so vehemently defending?
Ruralta 2 years ago
The reason you are allowed to express your opinion about this man and his words is being threatened by CHRC tribunals section 13. Cutting out a mans tougue will not remove hate from a mans heart. Did you listen to anything he said? Did you understand anything he said.
iwin4u2 2 years ago 5
Speaking of censorship! One has to be tactful in approaching subjects that others are are dead set in their opinions of. Lest they be censored (by youtube or ezra himself) for being able to ask questions that that woman could not. Misuse of the word fascist by one as educated as Levant is a subversive attack against the equality that defines Canada. I apologise for contributing to conflict but Ezra you are not motivated by benevolence.
Ruralta 2 years ago
Since when does one have to be motivated by benevolence to exercise their right as a Canadian Citizen? . BTW there is no equality in Canada - some are more equal than others - if you are Caucasian, Christian and male you must watch your tongue, but if you are a Muslim and dark skinned you can offend Christians or Caucasians with impunity consider Little Mosque on the Prairie produced by state TV . Minority groups have more rights than majority groups. Hypocrisy - pure & simple.
iwin4u2 1 year ago 3
Well I guess the jews learned long ago either its marginalize or be marginalized.
So Ezra prints cartoon... A certain number of people are influenced to have negative and perhaps dangerous precepts concering a certain group of new Canadians... Good work Ezra! Way to pick up where George W left off. Sadly Conservatives favour Immigration of the marginalized. The economy needs(!) cheap labour. Consumer markets are flooded. Dont let them out compete you! People need to feel safe!
Ruralta 1 year ago
It is not competition when immunity and pass go collect $200 cards are handed out to one group while the other group is consistently given a go directly to jail card - without collecting $200 for passing go. What gives ppl dangerous ideas about certain groups is the fact that they blow innocent ppl up to get their point accross.

Ezra is completely right here. In fact, if the government is supposed to protect anyone in this case, it's Ezra and HIS right to free speech. It's HIS rights that are being threatened, as opposed to this dirtbag imam's emotions (there are no rights regarding emotions)!

But I'm sometimes surprised at how far it can forget itself.

cmoplay 2 years ago 3

tattypatty 2 years ago
You are wrong. Ezra is absolutely right. He doesn't "pretend" anything. He has said that the state does not have the right to judge him on his motives for publishing something. The state is in the business of attending to protecting people, not harassing them.
universalradio 2 years ago 5
If he doesn't pretend to answer to the state, then why is he answering to the state in this video, telling them why he doesn't answer to them, which is basically telling them his reasons for doing what he did, ie, answering to their demands for an explanation. If he's saying "I don't give the state the right to tell me what to do", then why is he present at this meeting at the request of the state? Obviously, he knows he HAS some answering to do.
pabzum 2 years ago
He is showing up at the hearing; but he is stating that he is not allowing the state to police his thoughts. The government has no business interfering in freedom of the press. No business interfering in religious discussions, or anything philosophical. The courts should be the ONLY entities permitted to do this. He's not "pretending" anything. His showing up at the hearing just means he's going through the process, and he hopes that it ends up in court. He could just refuse to go, I suppose.
universalradio 2 years ago 3
No - he's exposing the fact that this is abuse. The 'weapons' of the HRC aren't going to go all that far, if it ends up in court, and is exposed nationally and internationally.
universalradio 2 years ago
His freedoms don't 'emanate' from anything. They're inherent. They're inalienable. Go away, you jihadi sympathizer.

He could handled the matter in a much more professional matter.
vancosmos 2 years ago

Goodbye."

Just a thought to add here,
I hope Mr.Ezra had clearance from Govt of Canada to present himself in to legislative process of US congress, obviously it was meant to have some perspective on image or laws/rules in Canada.
Though Employees of HRC Canada have broader fraternity/immunity under UN Charter of Human rights/treaties, as well as to serve as visionary torch for Canadian house of commons to suggest, amend, include or delete any piece of legislature.
That all.
Phattite 3 years ago
Here is what Canadian Statesman Mr.Ezra said in U.S. Congress's bi-partisan human rights caucus on July 11, 2008.
"Publish annual reports shaming foreign countries for their abuses of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Put Canada on that list, to let our government know what they're doing isn't acceptable."
Having regard to US legislative process,"Fixhist" feels moral responsibility not to comment on this issue any more.

Perhaps Danish had to learn hard way,the treaties & laws of reciprocal implied restrictions & rights of intellectual property.
Japan has taken up danish copy right registrations from July 1st,2008,
so far Denmark didn't have any one to register their own copy & Intellectual property rights.
I Wonder! who will pay for death of 100 people due to Danish caricature product?
Never too let, I hope these danish caricatures should go away, sooner the better,I guess.

Restriction applies for all fair or unfair use.
