I miss you Danny.... Bill Crane here... I came to GIT to play in your Fusion performance class.. I miss you. You'll remember me... I'm the unremarkable guy always trying to blow with my Yamaha SY77 comping... You're right. I wish I had learned melody... I'm playing a lot of piano right now... Classic rock... But I, in essence game to G.I.T because of you and Steve Travato... Tell him that. I'm gonna get back to my Fusion development. I wanted to salute you.. Superb phrasing! Love ya
@ArthlecMann Awesome! What year did you graduate? I just graduated last year, September 09, got to play with a latin pop band at the Wiltern, will never forget that ahaha. What are you up to out in the world now?
I really love seeing this sort of stuff in Guitar World. This is the stuff a performing guitarist needs to get by in the world. To get a paying gig at functions being able to play semi-quaver quintuplets at 155 BPM isn't important - but being able to vamp over chords, play changes and knowing "Message in a Bottle" - THOSE are the things younger guitarists shoud work an. Shred all you want of course, but a bit of advice - learn the stuff for contemporary stuff too, theres more to music than metal
I think this stuff is awesome... and learning all the inversions in the differant voiceings is cool
but i don't play music for money... i play for me...
if that builds me a fan base and lets me do the #1 thing in the world (perform on stage) so be it... if it means i get to sit in my room and just jam along with guitar pro ... so be it...
i think its up to these younger guitarists to find what they 'should work on' themselves.
Thanks Mr. Gilbert, I picked my guitar and started jamming on the chords you were using, even using a barred triad at the 7th and 9th fret with hammer on's and pull offs.
@b44styreraug I had a few classes with him at MI, he used to play random things that would just blow everybody's mind. The whole class would gasp at the same time. I heard some things in his class that I haven't heard since and I don't know if I'll ever hear it again. He is like Einstein on a guitar, he has so many more nuggets of musical wisdom like this. He's a monster.
Is it just me, or are the coolest (not necessarily best; coolest) guitarist Suhr players? Dan Gilbert, Guthrie Govan; both very skilled players, but also very fucking cool haha
he is is an asshole
