since the video was years before and i don't remember the settings now. but as my opinion: you just keep testing the effect when you adjust the 6 axis, and there's no "best settings", just the most comfortable settings for a certain person :-)
BTW, check out my video where I use a wiimote with freetrack. You can get a full 6 degrees of freedom, even with a 3 point LED model. There is a trick though, you have to copy a .DLL from the TrackIR suite (free to download).
Otherwise, the only "strafing" axes that gets tracked is front/back, which gets mapped to zoom function.
Check it out and see if you like it better with 6DOF :D
Hi, I've already heard about the wiimote track, and I've watched some videos about it and the main advance is that there's no time delay of the wiimote-track, and that reallys fees cool, i'm gonna try that after i finished the Joystick To H-shifter 2 program =)
BTW,there's also 6DOF for the freetrack, but the .dll for FS2004 only supports 4DOF, maybe i should update something like FSUIPC, hehe
FS2004 supports 6DOF. You have to install FSUIPC which comes with Freetrack. After it is installed, go to TrackIR's website and download their software for free. After you install their software, just copy the TIRviews.DLL file from the TrackIR program directory to the Freetrack program directory. After that, you can remove the TrackIR software.
Then you select Simconnect output, and then select TrackIR output. This will grey-out the simconnect, but just launch FS2004 and it should work.
it is not too sensitive... helicopters just require much less input from the operator... so the Flight Sim is somewhat realistic in that regard.
You have to constantly be making adjustments, they are nothing like fixed-wing aircraft. You cannot simply trim the controls and sit back.. they are unstable on their own. :) But much more fun once you get the hang of it.
You're right. But I always got drifting and then turn into crazy rotation/path while trying to holding the helicopter in the air with zero speed. And I've also succeeded in landing with a little forward speed, it's really a fun to take the control of that machine :-D
about the wheel and joystick, you can watch my other videos; and about the cap, it's a free track IR, you can know more by searching "freetrack", both on youtube and google :-)
hi, you can read my discussion with bushpilot223 at this page, and you can get more about freetrack on its official site:w w w dot. free-track dot. o r g
free track is a totaly free software, but it works on all the games which trackIR works, because for the game, their input method is the same (via DirectX). so the difference of trackIR/freetrack is just : 1) costs/free. 2)use its IR camera/your webcamera 3) just use it/you need to build a LED array to be seen by your webcamera. here's its official site:w w w dot. free-track dot. o r g
Thanks. I just watched a tut video, and it explained a lot. I have all the items in my cart on Amazon that I need, just waiting to see if I should click 'order' or not, probably will.
freetrack? you just build the set, and choose the 4LED mode in the software and that is ok. Does the freetrack software you downloaded don't support 4LED mode anymore?
You can select it, but next to it in parenthesis it says (OBSOLETE DESIGN don't use anymore) because of intersecting points and stuff. The 3 point is more stable.
what is that thing on your head called?

@coolguy676 i think thats the free tracker... form what it looks like as when he moves his head... the camera moves

yes, it's freetrack ;-)

whoa that's clever! you use a steering wheel with a bar that goes across to pull the joystick! 5 stars just for the clever yoke!

My video clearly shows 6DOF with FS2004, so I know that it works.
I still need to get rudder pedals. I am a helicopter fan, and trying to control the anti-torque with a twist grip joystick is not much fun at all. :(
vespira 3 years ago
cool and thanks, i'll try that!
heli-fan? i think that's very very hard to control a helicopter in FS, it's toooo sensitive, and u're nice, man :-D

you're welcome. and good luck on your freetrack :-D
ShikaiXu 3 years ago
Ya it's fun! I taped a small flashlight to my head ^_^ works ok but going to buy 3 LED's
bushpilot223 3 years ago
hey, if you want to get the best performance, 4 LEDs are required. and, for backup, maybe 6 or 10 is better, they're cheap
ShikaiXu 3 years ago
Actually the 4 LED set has been discontinued and the 3 LED set is now being used instead. There must have been problems with the 4 LED set.
bushpilot223 3 years ago
so, what's wrong with your 4LED set?
the more LEDs, the more accurate and axises, the better
ShikaiXu 3 years ago
well the maufacturer discontinued the 4 set, and is now using the 3 set. ask them not me
