  • post punk greatness!!!!

  • One of the greatest bands ever...

  • @www6droppin go fuck yourself. Who gives a shit what religion he follows.

  • hèy_ÂNyÒNe_wÁNnå_chÁt_wïth_me_Í_feel_sÒ_lÒnélY_tödày~

  • thats a great song

  • Even Bowie liked this cover

    .

  • Sounds too much like Bowie's version. What's the point of a doing a cover if you're not going to add anything original?

  • @Mikeraske Covers are always original to some extent--impossible not to be. Subtle differences can have value. They may also expose music to new audiences, as in here, a genre shift from glam rock to early goth--also exploiting the original for the group's own gain.

  • this is one of the best covers i've ever heard.

  • shit quality

  • Idiot remarks . Bauhaus were amazing at that time and i can say that for sure . I was there n i aint gay or a goth . They did some amazing gigs.

  • It sounds almost exactly like bowie's, what a waste of my time

  • the cure were nice bauhaus was more scary mean....they could be you up with there brain..

  • the strongest goth hymn of all times ...

  • i dont like the bass its different

  • @hermanmerman18 trevor bolder is something else!

  • I like nina hagens live cover for this by far. Bauhaus formed in 1978, The Cure formed in 1976. I do believe the cure are the original goths

  • @21love4ever no way, maybe the more gay gothic types but people been into campy gloomy shit and depressing darkness before the cure who cares tho

  • @matt47forTED History repeats all of the time would be a pretty simple statement. Thank you for gay bashing ; )

  • @21love4ever gay bashing? gay in the context i just used it is not homosexual bashing at all. why do homosexual males think they own the word gay? i suppose you think any time someone says something is queer you think they mean homosexual, even when referring to an inanimate object.

  • @matt47forTED "Gay gothic types"...... in a context that only made you seem sexually frustrated.

  • much better than Bowie's version

  • no. More habitual for your ear may be.

  • Haven't seen this in years, thanks for posting!

  • I love these guys!! My friends better come out with me to SF when it's all Bauhaus night @ the dna lounge!

  • Really good, just as good as Bowie

  • just as good because he is copying bowie instead being himself

  • @mrblack4026 He isn't copying Bowie. The two versions of the song are really quite different from each other and Bowie himself said that this is what he wanted his version to sound like.

And as it goes, what's wrong with being inspired by another musician and wanting to cover their works?

  • Godard said, "It doesn't matter where you take it from, but where you take it to." Goth was a darker version of the pomp and swagger of Glam, and Bauhaus did all of that with their own shadowy twists. Bowie inspired thousands of performers. This is just bringing it full circle.

  • Actually, this is one cover that nearly approaches the power of the original. In most cases, Murphy was as pretentious as Bowie but never as visionary.

  • David bowie wannabees.

  • fucking love it---

  • I do not really know this band but it's cool like hell xD

If hell can be cool/cold oo

    He's voice is brilliant^^

  • Bauhaus is so CAMP. I'd go far enough to say... Tacky? But tacky in an awesome sort of way.

  • suena muy igual a la de bowie, con unas guitarritas mas , y eso...awuante bauhaus entodo kso ^^

  • I like it. It's cool, but it's not a patch on the original.

on a related note the EP David J and Alan Moore did for V for Vendetta is fucking awesome

  • David Bowie actually said that Bauhaus's version was better.

  • yeah but the originall version willa always be better

  • this cover isnt unique enough from the orginal to be a good cover. its pretty similiar to the davie bowie versian

  • Agree.

  • it´s magic!

  • I feel guilty ! I still love BAUHAUS ! Thanks too Bowie first ! More than 25 y passed and this version is still so good compare to actual shits

  • Bauhaus should answer for crimes against music, they were in no small way, partly responsible for creating that Frankenstien's monster that we later knew as "GOTH!!!!!"aaaaaaargh....

  • so what if they helped intent it?

  • Goth=Effeminate Punks in drag with too much make-up and a want to dance. What happened to the Punks that became art-school pussies.:XD

  • yeah those fuckers are a bit of an evolutionary anomoly....probably just really fragile atry farty types pretending to be punks to avoid getting daily beatings!!!!

  • I was kidding.

  • So was I,most ppl bite, then there's the odd few that recognize a bit of banter...congrats,you belong to the latter group!!!!

  • hahahahaha. who cares about category?

And maybe we are to smart to choose what to rebel against?

Well im laughing... A grown up on youtube trying to offend goth... hahahahhaha.

  • Too smart???Well now I'm the one who's laughing......ha ha ha ha ffs,,,,and another thing, I have no intention of growing up,so fuck you deadhead!!!!ha ha ha

  • I blame UK Decay.

  • Great song done well by both Bowie and Bauhaus. Both artistically amazing.

  • does anyone know why they split up AGAIN? What was the reason 2nd time?

  • mmm, split up again? i think they just got together again to release go away white, thats all,

  • Comment removed

  • Bowie version still owns this, much more soul & heart in it, this is just too fast, no passion!

  • I think alike. Though I really like Nina Hagen's cover.

  • Please, just kill yourself!

  • wow wtf :S did you just escape from a mental instutute? i dont get that comment

  • WOW.........

  • Comment removed

  • Is this better than the original? I think it might just be, no disrespect to bowie!

  • I think you might just be right...even though I like Bowie this is even more amazing.

  • Love the white duke, but this is just perfect

  • nope

  • fuckin great cover! the best bowie cover i've ever heard i believe.

  • As much as I love Bowie, this song is AWESOME!

  • le maitre serait satisfait !!!!!!!

  • Bien-dit

  • Adoro esta mmúsica

  • love love love

  • heh THE GOTHFATHER......I still prefer the term DEATHROCK, but for some reason it became GOTH.....Don't even get me started on Emo. Damn kids these days

  • I call Bauhaus Post-Punk, but that's just me, I hate terms like goth/emo...

  • But punk isn't dead!

  • THE GOTHFATHER...

  • hey this is actually pretty close to david bowie's version! bowie's will always be best (IMO) but this is really good too!

  • It is very good but get rid of that stupid cage, Bauhaus is probably looking back at this, thinking 'how embarrassing, that stupid arty farty cage'

  • Whoa, Murphy sounds right on with Bowie's voice. Nifty

  • They are similar. When I saw the Hunger I thought it was Bowie singing "Bela Luosi's Dead."

  • Is it a sin that I actually really prefer this cover to the original?

    Bauhaus. <3

  • I prefer this one too :D

*is wearing her Bauhaus shirt right now*

    :D :D :D

  • hahahahah me too

  • So does Bowie... so he says.

The production is much better and the drums especially. What I love about Bauhaus is there is no ego in Daniel Ashes guitar, it weaves and becomes part of the Rhythm track. David J's Bass just drives like an eighteen wheeler. Genius

  • peter murphy + love aqnd rockets = *Bauhaus*

  • back in the day it was a serious offence to be called goth!

  • IT STILL IS.

  • I have this in my ipod, I love it.

  • Bowie is the last alive legend, but we should keep Pete Murphy and Bauhaus in the legend too !!!

  • Amazing music, and amazing cover....Bauhaus marked their era...and of course, long live Peter Murphy,he has the most beautiful voice i can remember.

  • We said deathrock back in the day not goth. I love that a new generation loves this music as much as my friends and i did in high school! bauhaus are true visionaries of music.

  • i´ve heard that they called it deathrock in america and goth in the uk?...

  • no, its still goth in the US, too, but its seriously misunderstood.

  • I Love Bauhaus!

and I love their version of Ziggy Stardust!!
