  • Calvin Borel learned in 2009 what Kent Desormeaux learned in 1998 when he lost the Belmont on the wire to Victory Gallop; the Belmont stretch is very, very long.

Borel moved too soon and had no horse left when Summer Bird challenged in deep stretch.

  • Great Race..I am sad for Calvin B..I like this Nice, Humble DECENT man..He didnt loose by more than 3 inches...Heartbreaking...Mine That B was tired after 3 Races close together..WE dont know whats going to happen EVER none of us

  • Audio sounds like I'm in the next room.

Dunkirk was probably the best horse, but went out way too fast (23 2/5, 47, 1:12 2/5 and still he fought back!!!) That is just one of the things that makes the Belmont so tough. Few if any of these horses will ever run 1 1/2 miles again.

  • you never underestimate the horses in back(the 2009 kentucky derby) but mine that bird was expected to win, but no one expected SUmmer bird to win.

  • Awesome Race

  • Too many storylines on this race. First...it solidifies the Birdstone bloodline as one of the best stretch running lines ever. Second... its easy to criticize Calvin but he wouldn't have been running for the "jockey TC" if he was unqualified. Third... it was exciting to see Kent win the Belmont after heartbreakes in 1998 and 2008. Forth...here in the Belmont you have a major upset of the horse that majorly upset the Derby field....its been a great 3 year old season in my opinion.
