He's such an amazing explainer of things that you'd think a fair proportion of a 1967 audience must have been pretty convinced the transporter really worked. I read (quite a serious) book about the science of Star Trek a long, long time ago (in this galaxy): it isn't quite as easy as Leonard Nimoy so brilliantly makes it sound! Great man.
Do the stars of yesteryear seem more adult, more coherent...more intelligent (?!) than the vapid, shallow, fake "schmucks of the week" that are shoved in our faces today?
@YBBRadio I agree completely! You are not a real actor unless you publicly F** up royally on daily basis or a son or daughter of a famous Actor/actress. I.e No experience necessary.
Back in those days, Leonard Nimoy was quite a mystery. He was only a name in the credits; we knew nothing about him for about 6 months. So we had time to conceive of the character Spock without the intrusion of reality. This made Spock more "real" than he would have been than today where stars are trotted out at outlets like ComicsCon for months to years before a film or show premieres.
Don't they know this kills the fantasy? How boring and how sad the world has become!
That was a great interview. It's something that the generations who weren't thought of yet can enjoy since they weren't able to see it the first time, like me. I was born the last year it ran on air before sindication.
ugghh thank you so much. this is just what i needed to see. what a man! i don't care how old he is now, he is a charming man, always has been, with an attractive goodness about him. what a LEGEND!
Awesome! Mr. Nimoy gives the best interviews. I'm so happy he's been added to the revised Star Trek universe. Let's all pray he truly "lives long and prospers". Thanks for the video!
Where did you get this??? I've never seen this in all my decades of fandom!! thank you so much, it's absolutely beautiful (apart from the idiot interviewer and her idiot hair!)
Wow. The interviewer's hairstyle sure drives home the reason most of the women in Star Trek had goofy-looking hair.
Please God, may women never starch their hair into such stiff, hideous constructions again. Please. If it ever becomes a widespread practice, I might never be able to have sex without bagging my partner's head.
It's almost impossible to get it up when you're laughing hysterically, and gagging at the same time.
Funny the mentioning of the haircut, he kept the sideburns too.
I love how they seems so serious when they talk about warp-speed and beaming :D If I hadn't known better I would have thought they were talking about something situated in the real world.
Actually, Warp Speed isn't complete bullshit. Einstein showed that space is 'warped' by the presence of gravity. Many futurists speculate that a type of 'warp drive' will be used in the future. As far as teleportation ('beaming'), they have already teleportated photons. They'll be teleporating basic molecules, and possibly even a virus in the not-to-far-off future. Teleportation may become a reality in the distant future...
I love his intelligence, his velvety voice, his modesty and polite speech. It's a great rarity to find such a pleasant man in Hollywood. That's why he is even more adorable! Thank you very much!
Fascinating.

It's Amazing even after all this time playing Spock, His wonderfully strong and outgoing personal character completely abolishes being type-casted.

Is that a moustache? I love that he's grown such suave, smoothe moustache but he's still got his Star Trek side burns.
I wonder why he's got a moustache...
Am I imagining that he has moustache?

Do you notice how shiny his hair is in that studio? Evenshe comments on how nice it is. "nice and thick"! How envious Shatner must have been!

Any interview from that time when Star Trek was still being made is great. That's the first time I ever heard warp 8 described as "awful fast."

What a discovery! 1967? Spock had an option to lose the ears - YIKES!
So interesting to hear him discuss Spock & Trek in the current tense and not as memories. Very handsome here but some how even more adorable!!
