i don't meen to come out harsh but i'm not a fan of that half butterfly. But if you teach your goalies that i have no problem with it if theyre confortable with it but make sure that at 0:20 the goalie moves his stick to follow where the puck is going. thats my opinion because im not the most flexible goalie and i use to do that half...ish butterfly just by instinct and i got caught many times with not moving that stick to follow where the puck i heading. but good work anyways its hard to teach
Joeys the best, always enjoy working with him at the goalie sessions at scouting camps/bchl camps, extremely constructive, helpful and an overall great coach,
Are you sorry because of your poor manner; being ruder (politically/socially) incorrect by making fun of of someone's height ? Or because you can't spell?
Please do not post comments that are not constructive!
i just figure out "@oddmud" is part of another goalie school...LOL. I love it!!!
I'm really happy your (oddmud) viewing our material. And about being Professional; It's because i don't agree with your comments? My playing experience taught me many things, one in particular is it's one thing to be theoretical and another thing when its' Actual' (real time). Thank for your comments, keep 'em coming!
The development of our goalies is knowledge & ability. we teach our goalies save selections and as they progress (fall into their own) then start to work with their strengths. No cookie cutter!
also if your a smaller goalie you need to be athletic and quick, so being able to make a pad save (shot going away from body, towards post) without loosing body position makes . A taller goalie would us a butterfly extend (Knee down) as they can get their pads past the post.
Personally, I think that the half-butterfly is a useless technique, since it opens up holes in the goaltender's body, ESPECIALLY the five-hole. I had to break this habit when I was younger with the help of piero greco.
@CanadianClipper31 i think martin brodeur's stand up is useless but waddo ya know it works for him... dont bash on the guy if he uses a technique that u think is useless, it might work well for him
dont let this guy rattle you, keep doing what your doing man. Your a beauty. Oddmud, work on skating first then you can move onto making proper saves, your the last person to be critiquing goaltending....
@oddmud - Let me guess, you prefer butterfly extension. .... by using butterfly ext. goalies very seldom get to shots 6 - 12 inches off the ice inside post.
Or you think moving into that shot is better.....i love goalies who do that. they go into the shot while the rebound goes away from them, leaving an open net ..he shoots he scores..you should think more about your comments before posting. Cheers,
@oddmud Ali, you should think about how to interact with the public and keep a professional attitude as a business owner. I think that getting a blocker on shots like that in a butterfly extension is much more effective instead of leaving that inside of the bottom of the pad open. your goalie here even let in a shot that hit the bottom of the pad and redirected to the opposite post and in. A butterfly extension with proper blocker position would have stopped every one of those shots.
@oddmud What did you think of this past seasons playoffs. All a bunch no name goalies and third stringers made it further than the so called stars. I recall an "idiot" letting the goaltending world know that goaltending isn't it's all cracked up to be.
@oddmud yeah the goalies sucked, but they were lucky enough to have super power offence in front of them. you're an idiot because you have to argue this crap over and over. it's obvious that goal tending isn't everything. it's common sense, you're not a genius, you're just a jerk with an opinion. get over yourself, fool.

You need to get your stick on those low shots and deflect them to the corners

This guy does not look like a u17 goalie imo. Or maybe he's just not used to the synthetic ice.

Great observation!

instead of kicking out, try and extend out with your pad on the ice.
