Ok dude u are way off god"s will was never to suffer trust me if that were true there wouldnt have been a paradise in the first place the real reason why god allows suffering is because the world si not falling into his power but the one who opposes him, satan has the world in his grip and is causing untold caos not every religion knows this so think about it and tell your friends.

@kweber6497 In this video, Anyabwile is speaking specifically about the sufferings or trials of Christian believers. The examples you gave are asking the question: Why is there evil in the world? Death, rape, murder, starvation, pain, misery, abuse, etc. are all examples of evil in the world. All of them stem from the selfish desires of a person to do what he wants regardless of what others think. This is what we call sin. Adam and Eve brought sin in; Jesus Christ frees us from it.

This is absurd. Why would a loving caring all powerful god need to create massive suffering for mysterious purposes? Allowing children to starve to death and be beaten murdered and raped is for the praise of the glory of god. God is something that was created to allow man to feel better about existing. Without having a meaning to exist most people cannot go on. Why is it so hard to believe that life is just life and when its over its over?

In all due respect...God and his desire to have us suffer is just not true. We have created this "belief" as an escape to avoid responsibility. We need to take care of our fellow man, we need to help those in need, we need to share, and get pass egos and right and wrong and religious differences. We need to focus on what works and remove what doesn't. God's did not create suffering...WE DID.

There is far too much information out there from an archaelogical and scientific point of view to debate the accuracy of scripture. That's been proven time and time again. The Bible is true and accurate and does not need our approval to keep it's authority.

@DrXoz My poin is that you would like to see this man come to Islam. Well, I would like to see you come to Christ, as would Mr. Anyabwile. As far as where my reasoning comes from, I refer you to the parable of the sower found in the book of Matthew chapter 13 as told by Jesus. Jesus said that when some people receive the word of the kingdom (or the gospel), sometimes they don't understand and the devil comes and takes away that seed.

@DrXoz Jesus then goes on to speak of the seed in the stony or rocky places, but the seed cannot find root and dies shortly after. Some seed also grows among thorns but is choked out. It is he who receives the seed in good ground is the one that hears and understands, bears fruit, and multiplies his fruit many times. Basically, alot of people have their hearts and minds in rocky and thorny ground. They get the Word but don't accept it completely or have trouble believing and so goes belief.

@DrXoz There are many, many people out there who have heard the gospel of Christ and flat out refuse to believe. There are some who have heard, yet struggle because they lack faith, which is a requirement to believe according to Scripture. Others hear of Christ and then respond out of works, but this leaves far too much to be desired, for salvation is not of works(Ephesians 2:9). It is by grace we are saved through faith in Christ.

From what Ive studied 1 and a half year I noticed that chrisianity is a very confusing religion. This is one of the most reasons why christians often leave christianity.

@DrXoz I can only assume you mean that I "flat out refuse to believe" Islam, and I do. God is not the author of confusion(1 Corinthians 14:33), therefore Christianity isn't confusing. There are no doubt differences in denominations but there are essentials that biblical Christians agree on. People leave because they have a fundamental problem with believing. Jesus said that "no man comes to the Father, except through Him." (John 14:6) Muslims don't believe this nor does most of the world.

@rlhoope526 I was about to mention (1 Corin 14:33) too which isnt true. Isnt many learned men saying that the trinity is a mystery? What does mystery lead to? Confusion! About John 14:6 Yes, this is true according to muslims aswell. But it doesnt only apply to Jesus. A muslim has to believe in all th prophet of God to inherit paradise. You cant just say the bible says this so it must be true! Like in 1 cor 14:33. Actually Cor 14:33 goes against the trinity which the bible doesnt teach at all.

@DrXoz It is an insult to the world and it's religions that anyone would make such a claim, therefore belief becomes an issue because Jesus presents Himself in truth, fulfilling prophecy, knowing the whole time that He will be a stumbling block to many. He was right. I have absolutely no right to even consider myself a Christian except for the fact that He willingly gave His life as a sacrifice for my sin so I might be reconciled with the Father. I am the foulest of sinners worthy of death.

@rlhoope526 I dont act like im a bible expert but from what Ive studied about christianity in 1 and half year ive noticed that the trinity doenst go with the bibles own words! The word Trinity doenst exist in the entire bible. There isnt any verse in the entire bible which comes close to discribes the trinity. Jesus never saying "Im God, Worship me" these things makes it all confusing which goes against 1 cor 14:33. Yes there a certain verses like John 10:30 but these are very easy to explain.

Suffering shows us that our will-to-power is minimal, and either there is no solution to our inability to control everything, or suffering shows us that God is who we should let our will rest in--suffering is used as a means of love, to humble our hearts.

If one thinks their Self is all that is, or that humanity is all that is, then of course the idea of suffering offends you--it hurts the grasp you have on your idol of humanity.

The simple fact is, and this is based on my own encounters with people and also what Scripture says, that when "so called" Christians leave Christianity, it is due to lack of many things including understanding, faith, and an actual relationship with the risen Christ. They knowof Him without knowing Him.

@rlhoope526 This is why many leave Christianity, they were never really aquainted with the Author and Creator of the universe. Once you belong to Him, there would be no desire to leave, for we are no longer our own, we have been bought with a price and belong to Him ( Corinthians 6:19 and 20). All this having been said, I don't actually believe, and you may not either, that the black Muslim movement is authentic Islam. There are some differences but I won't go into them.

You may be right. Mr. Anyabwile may not know much about the Quran or genuine Islam. Then again, he may know quite alot. However, to end on the accuracy of scripture I ask you, don't Muslims think Jesus was a great prophet? They respect Him right? If so, then His parable is sound.

We bring glory to God by our suffering? Not sure how a child being tortured by smallpox ( designed by God) brings glory to anyone! Does 1 million chldren ( mostly the poor)dying of malaria every year bring glory to Jesus? did auschwitz bring glory to God? this is absurd?

Well, one child dying of small pox may have lead to millions being more wary of sanitation!

Millions of chilrdren dying of malaria leads to millions of young people entering school studying science in the hope of eradicating malaria?

Auschwitz happened and today genocide is looked upon with scorn. Racism is still very much alive but its alot more bruised and battered than it used to be!

no doubt it is overwhelming not just because I think it is. I do wonder how anyone who has truely looked at the genetic and molecular biology evidence can conclude otherwise though.

Do you think God caused the suffering in Haiti for example, to bring glory to himself? Where is the evidence for this claim? I am not sure how I got to this video, but I am interested in human suffering and explanations for it. i am interested in various theological explainations for it ..
