im an aquarium newb and I gots a question for ya..........how do you go about cleaning out your tank with so many fish in there? is it possible to have good filtration where you DON'T need to clean out the tank? Enlighten me.............
@BelieverOrDisciple all you need is water change (about 25%) since there is plants it's not a good a idea to clean the gravel because the plants need the bacteria and when you do water changes, fish are not dumb and would go into the thing you are using to clean. I have the same size tank with plants but different fish so just my thought
would any of you say this is overcrowded my cousin wants to know so he can but more fish, 2 honey gouramis, 2 corys , 1 bristle-nose, 2 kribensis.. its a 12 gallon tank and is temporary he is getting a 40 gallon in a few months. thanks
I overstocked (in my oppinion) my 125l tank and have now bought a 20l tank to move a few fish over but have had some water quality issues. Am considering a second filter combined with minimal feeding and a weekly water change.
What are you using for a background? It looks sparkley. I like it. I just switched my background to solid black...not sure how I am liking it..but I like the sparkle look of yours.... Lively, beautiful tank!
It's a beautiful aquarium but you need something to break up all that orange and yellow.... put a large school of neons in there or some blue dwarf gouramies.
I really like your tank! I've never been a fan of livebearers, but I am partial to the Swordtails and the color variants you chose (marigold and pineapple). I love the black background and substrate. It makes the colors of your fish really pop.
@EsELoCo316 no they have a special tank at the petsmart i go to with snails in them but BEWARE!!! female snails, when pregnant give birth to tons and tons and tons of babys so i would get a male
im just starting my tank i have 2 pairs of swordtails 1 pair are the marigolds and i forget exactly what the other breed is but its somthing like candy corn or candy cane, all i can remember is the word candy is in there name
nice 55 gallon tank bro i have a 55 also but i keep having problems with mine ive had it for a lil over a mont but my water is a bit cloudy still is it cause its going trough its cyclyng stage
I got a yoyo Botia loach and it kept the snail population down, but now there are no snails left to eat the algae. I love your tank, btw. Have I already told you that? Well, I am the redundant queen of redundancy, so I love your tank!
A simple stationary should would have been nicer than the jerky pans, love the clown loaches though. They do a great job of keeping the snail population down.
Do you know how to get rid of snails? A couple were on my plants when I got them and now there are a thousand! I would like to get rid of them without any chemicals. . . but I don't know any other methods to get rid of them.
Well first of all how big is your tank. If its over 10 gallon you could add some catfish like featherfins or upsidedown catfish who would make quick work of the snails
hey nice fish!! i just gotta horseface loach he/shes in my baby tank check it out i heard theyre kinda rare and thats the 1st i saw 1 to buy so i did lol also have to baby clown loaches
i love your tank set up. could you help me if i got a 25 - 35 gallon tank would i be able to keep 2 angelfish(not breeding pair) and a few harlequin rasboras and neon tetras? thanks for your help ppl :-)
This is like my dream tropical tank. How did you get your livebearers so happy? Is it because there are so many?
The ones I always got just tried to get out of the tank all the time or either chased each other around and beat each other up.
And the water perimeters were perfect. I'm thinking maybe its because, like african cichlids, maybe you should have a lot in there to calm the aggression???
if urs are fighting that means u need more or u got the ratio off it should be one male to every 2 females. get a lot of mixtures and u will be okay.
african chilids are mean fish overall. to keep them calm, get a lot of chiclids and all around the same size. the reason to have so many is to not let the fish have enough time to gain a territory.
@Shayna6278 well, i have a ? for you.lol my 55 currently has 1-angelfish, 1-moonlight gourami, 7 giant danios and 4 rasboras. my water is pristine. can i add anymore fish to my setup? i want to make the school of rasboras bigger like....9...you know...just a nice sized school...do you think that i can add the other 5? or am i pushing it with my bio load?
@cichlidkeeper89 I'm pretty sure you could add the other five, but if the pH gets too high or alot of algae starts to grow, I would get rid of a few. Maybe 7 is good
What's that black thing attached to the back wall near the top left? Is it part of your filter system? It looks like you have plants growing through it.
I think its the pipe that sucks in water using a small magnet propeller in the bottom and brings it to the filter and back out the small little waterfall you hear in the background.
