  • Left over Crack and Reel big Fish

  • Ska punk maybe even thats pushing it with some of these. Specials would eat all of these alive and I love Op Ivy but they are punk.

  • Choking Victim is ska?

Certain songs maybe...but not the band in general.

  • where did you get that version of everything goes numb? i have the one from the album everything goes numb

  • ok a few things..... big d did not originally do little bitch it was THE SPECIALS. choking victim is cool, way better than leftover crack. but most third wave ska blows. and how can bombshell be your favorite op ivy song? its all about the crowd and this is a ska punk list and its not even a ska song.

  • Skantastisch :D

  • Spanish speaking listeners of ska should listen to Panteon Rococo! You wont regret it: :DD

  • panteon rococo!!!

  • Your list is probably the same as mine would be! Except I would've threw in some Aggrolites! PROPS!

  • Hey thats Little B*tch is a Cover of The Specials songs!! :D

  • Black Dahlia is the shit man

  • cool version of "everything goes numb" pretty rad

  • viernes 13!

  • I do hope you realize that Big D is covering the specials.

  • your the first person who has my fav bands on there top 5 the only thing i would change is streetlight should be 4 not 5 but other then that you have amazing taste bud

  • Wait....No aquabats?

  • @ShadeSlayer1996

    DDDDD;

  • what version of the streetlight song is it--its not the album version, right?

  • @codylawrence100 It's the version off their demo

  • yo ckeck us out south NJ ska Robot Manhattan

  • I'm sorry but I LOVE Less then Jake and The mighty Mighty Bosstones, RBF, and Little Bitch was originally by The Specials! Big D is my favorite band though!

  • @KaptainKwasnik same. do you like the aquabats when they were ska

  • @vancouvercanucks23 I liked them when they were ska but not as much now becasue they aren't very skaish anymore

  • @KaptainKwasnik yeah but i was meaning like their album fury of the aquabats, with the trumpets and stuff

  • never heard this version of everything goes numb

  • SUBLIME????

  • fuck!!!

    this shit is ska!!!!

  • i consider suicide machines and choking victim punk rock bands but still u have good taste

  • SKA to me is reggae/punk dance fun music you can be a dag to at the beach. IMO can't be done without Madness and in later years, Sublime. Where are you from BTW? I'm guessing not British or AUstralasian?

  • just saw streetlight manifesto live last weekend in memphis, and i gotta say they put on one hell of a show. so does big D, saw them a couple years ago on 4/20 open for anti-flag.

  • These bands rock XD but you need to include Against All Authority lol

  • @weirdcast2 agreed against all authority is probably one of my favorite ska punk bands!

  • Uhhh Bad Manners?!!!

  • great taste in ska punk!

  • my dick is throbbing

  • CHOKING VICTIM FTW, sir.

  • Mexican ska FTW

  • Mexican ska FTW

  • Streetlight manifesto is number 1!

  • street light on 1

  • SKA-P!!!

  • This list and song choice you shared has made me VERY happy!

Operation Ivy and Choking Victim are my favorite Ska bands because i'm more of a punk listener but operation ivy is my favorite band.

    I'm a Rude Girl for life kiddos. (;

Skankin' my way to hell. haha

  • Actually the best one of these ive seen on here. At least it doesnt have Less Than Jake or Reel Big Fish on it haha

  • @skunkworks951 why dont you like LTJ or RBF?

  • @guitarxgodx100 becuz they fuckin suck

  • do u no any songs like what i got by sublime ?

  • i prefer bands with 3 or 4 people. thats just my opinion though

  • we have similar taste exept for op ivy.

suicide machines should be at 1

  • In the picture of Big D and the Kids Table, who's the guy to the far left?

  • Every good 90's Ska band has a fat guy who looks like the singer from Smashmouth.

  • love that choking victim is in there!

  • the specials did a better little bitch

  • Good List Man. Nice to see Choking Victim and The Suicide Machines on there.

  • Listen to Ska-p, you'll be surprised by it's awesomeness

  • Catch 22 and Ska-P

  • make a top of the best ska band is too subjetive.. that bands are cool! but it depends of your tasted i would put more band of the 1 and the 2 tone! but thats me.. no one can say you are wrong! no one can say the absolutely true! :) SKA Is FREDOM!!

  • in the ska I think that faster is not better

  • @sdistortion83 YOU'RE RIGHT.... IS THE CLEANESS AND THE TECNIQUE

  • For me, that Big D song and the chocking victim song are both the greatest songs by either band, but as far as entire band-wide, I probably wouldn't include either of those bands in my top 5 list.

  • im not haint but why would u use the everything goes numb demo version

  • OP IVY FTW!!!!! I would defenitly have the specials in there

  • 1-the skatalites...2-dancing mood...3-the pepper pots...4-tokio ska paradise orchestra...5-the specials....they are realy ska bands.....no mamadas

  • 5. Madness

    4. Catch 22/Manifesto (Same Singer so they go together for me :L)

    3. Bad Manners

    2. The Specials

    1. Ska-p

  • I Just listen Spanish SKA, But These Bands Are AWESOME!!!

  • That is by far the best Big D song ever made. The Streetlight one is good too

  • perfect choice there!

  • #1 panteon rococo

    #2 ska-p

    #3 sublime + specials

    #4 manifesto

    #5 ore ska band

lol idk i don't feel ska in english is as good as in spanish. yeah w/e troll on.

  • toots, the specials and madness are all really good bands but it would be hard to compare them to third wave ska bands. its almost like comparing rancid to the beatles.

  • Suicide Machines great Ska song with no horns

  • 1. Op Iv

    2. Sublime

    3. The Specials

    4. Leftover Crack

    5. MU330 or Reel Big Fish (tie)

  • how about the band that launched ska into the scene

    Reel Big Fish!!?

    in my book

    5) Less than Jake

    4) Sublime

    3) Big D & TKT

    2) Streetlight Manifesto

    1) Reel Big Fish

  • no sublime? wtf

  • goddamn that big d specials cover sucked!! Dont try to cover a great band like specials if you arent up to it

  • Wheres is Sub Humans

  • Who is Distemper....! :-(

  • @Painkiller213

one of the best east europien (russian) skapunk band ;)

  • The easiest way to tell a douchebag from the crowd is when he listens to ska.

  • i think hardcore dudes would be bigger douches. ska is happy and easy going.

  • eh i think youll find the moshers wearing eye shadow are the douchebags.....

  • Yeah... you're right. All more John Mayer for you I guess, moron. Enjoy!

  • I think people who cant stretch out their music genreh tend to be tools

  • cuz sublime isnt ska, its in a leage of its own. sublime is just the greatest band that ever lived so it can't be placed in a certain category. great list by the way!

  • how can u show all theses bands and not sublime come on now

  • Ska Is The Shit xD

    R.I.P. Bradley

  • 1) Ska-P (Spain)

    2)Suicide Machines

    3)Streetlight Manifesto

    4)Panteon Rococo(Mexico DF)

    5)Laurel Aitken

good choices man i just have to disagree with opivy being in 1st sometimes i think they werent even a ska band same with choking victim

  • None of these bands are "ska" bands... the Suicide Machines, Choking Victim, Op Ivy, and Big D are all punk influenced bands with ska riffs and horns. Streetlight belongs in a genre of its own.

When I think of modern "ska" bands I think of bands like Westbound Train, The Slackers, and The Toasters.

There's absolutely nothing with loving these bands as they can all be grouped together under the same banner, but they're not exactly "ska" in my opinion.

  • I'm not complaining about the "ska" label though, these are all personal favorite bands in my own collection as well.

Furthermore, if listening to Big D can lead a kid back to The Specials, then all the more power to the greatness of this music form.

  • One of my all time favorite songs

  • Operation ivy is the shit.

  • No way. I think Madness or the Specials should be up there. Or Toots and the Maytals. Sorry, I personally prefer 1st and 2nd wave. Good bands though.

  • @rg813 Madness and the specials all the wayyy!!

  • nice! i wasnt expecting all these bands, you made me happy hahaha. little bitch by the specials is classic of course but big ds version kicks ass tooooooooo

  • Suicide Machines is a great band nobody really knows about....

  • i beg to differ, they had a song in brink, everyones seen that movie

    but they are awesome

  • i heard high anxiety and i was like TONY HAWKS UNDERGROUnD

  • dang. destruction by defintion has been in my cd player for years

  • unless you're a ska fan from around Detroit

  • i do prefer little bitch by the specials.

  • i've seen streetlight soooo many times they should be number one man but over all i love all thos bands

  • choking victim ftw!!

  • very good selection, i like your taste in music, especially the last two

  • This is ska. You, my friend, are simply a pompous originalist bastard who needs to pull his head out of his ass and realize that times change and styles change and those who sit back bitching about it will be left behind.

I'm not saying that traditional ska is outdated, I'm just saying that you're a prick for not considering this ska.

    Have a nice day :)

  • This isnt ska!!!!! Tokio ska paradise, skatalite, skalariak, los fabulosos cadillacs, this is ska, your bands are only punk , stupid!!!

  • wow dude if you ask me every wave and version of ska is awesome, i cant pick a favorite year for ska

  • the top 1 song is not punk. This is the Catch 22 version of this song. its skapunk btw

  • the top 1 song is punk.

  • @zodiackaloid are you serious??? you think streelight is punk? hahahahaha.

  • the song you have for SM is the one originaly made with catch 22

  • @Atrain7546 No, it's just the one on SM's demo album. Made with SM, for Sm.

  • oh alright i see, that makes sense then

  • all about tom k

  • haha hell yeah it is

  • one pin short where they be at?

  • funny thing, the number one song is more punk than ska.

  • i dont know anything about ska. i dont know where it started, i dont care about 'rude boys' and all that stuff. ive never listened to ska music in my life. im here on this video for the music, not for history.

but i think i might start listening to ska more. im really liking the sound of it, it's different from the typical stuff i usually listen to.

  • isnt there latino ska like 8 kalacas la resistencia la pobreska etc????

  • what is a ska band??

  • @zombiking97

    DUDE!!!!!

its the best friggin type of music ever

  • sick 500 channels

  • is era of ska is so fucking annoying. old british bands are the only ska bands who held onto any essence of true ska (ska from jamacia) The Specials are the best. That cover on this list is shit by the way...Little Bitch. This sounds like a bunch of dudes who dont know how to grow up. theres no emotion in the songs. just the same fucking tempo, strumming, and horns. they never have, or will be, a rude boy. "real ska" comes from jamacia. toots and the maytals style. fuck you who say otherwise

  • Umm...I'm not sure that their trying to be "rude boys"... This is ska-punk so yeah it's a little different from Jamaican ska. British ska bands are way different from Jamaican ska. You don't know what you're talking about. Do your homework before you post negative comments next time.

  • these are 5 pretty different styles. but i love all of them. op ivy is definetely the best ska punk band, or whatever u call it!! but u could have chosen a better song:-) its all not really ska..but skainfluenced..if u hear to that offbeat in all songs..you should take a bit of your time and listen to a few of my uploads.. like spanking the monkey, cap a capo or union jack!!! cheers.

  • Needs more Planet Smashers.

  • Sorry guys, the Slackers are the best.

  • streetlight is one of the best ska bands around.... not sure where you are coming from (with them in mind, the others suck however), and for arguments sake my favorite ska band is mustard plug.

I think that big D song is from the specials however so.... that was kinda lame

  • dont even try to say that operation ivy suck

  • WHAT? Who said that? Where do I point my bat at

  • No, these bands are top-notch ska bands, and dont' tell me "real ska" is stuff like the Specials, Madness, etc. I've heard it all before, those are great bands, but you're a fucking idiot.

  • First off you heard it before well you didnt learn. skacore is just bad its not even good hardcore.but you injoy it so have fun.go fig your a crasshole so that says it all oh opp ivy is a good punk bad that has a bit of ska but i could not get to the endof your list for all the shit on it

  • I love how you base what's true and what's good on your OPINIONS, you stupid cunt. "Crasshole"? Way to steal the name from Crasshole Records by trying to sound original. Go fuck yourself you pretentious piece of shit.

  • How could you say that about Streetlight? Help me understand... really

  • to be fair Im old and like old ska I loved two tone and had never heard true SKA so I went out and got the LP intensifed ska I was like wow this shit is old but I played th lp over and over and it was great. I played in a band and that to was not true ska ever if the band was a very good but not true ska. I think Im just to old to like this fast skacore but why would any one care what this old skin thinks you like it so have fun.

  • Five really good choices, but there are so many good ska bands I don't think it's even possible to narrow it down that much.

  • you forgot reel big fish and mustard plug!!

  • theres no reel big fish?

    or mighty mighty bosstones?

    D:

  • the song you gave for streetlight was the catch 22 version... street's version is better...

  • no it was streetlight's version, just the demo version they first released before Everything Goes Numb. Catch 22 never played that song. The only songs those two bands share is on the Album Keasbey Nights.

  • the streetlight song, thats a different version than I am used to. where is it from? Not the album version thats for sure.

  • nice list like them all=D 5*

    lets shank!

  • its "skank" bud

  • amazing list dude..

I'd replace the suicide machines with the Skatalites though

  • where'd u get this version of everything went numb, was this the one off the advance copy thingy? great list btw.

  • nice list.

Little bitch is actually originaly done by the specials... i like the original better

  • Nice! I love these bands myself :D

    5 stars...

  • Check out our ska band on my profile..hope you enjoy the music.

  • Suicide machines and Choking Victim is Ska-Core, not ska. totaly diffrent concept, ska core is when you take out the horns. keep the up beats or the "Skanking Part" and throw in a hardcore style verse and operation ivy is ska punk, basicly ska core but not as hardcore and more punk. but i do aggree they are one of the #1 bands

  • although i agree op-ivy is one of the best ska bands you forgot to add the specials.

  • big d and the kids table are fuckin awsome!

  • big d and the kids table are fuckin awsome

  • Los Arambula?

  • reel big fish?

  • Five Iron Frenzy is the best ska band to ever live.

  • This is not Ska, this is ska-punk/ska-core, these bands don't have anything in common with the original genre. The real ska was born in Jamaica in the 1950/60s after the indipence from Great Britain, and it's a fusion of variuos styles of music: dub, mento, calypso, jazz, rhythm'n'blues. You have to listen to Prince Buster, Desmond Dekker, The Skatalites, Toots and The Maytals, Lauren Aitken, they are the Kings of Ska :)

  • keep reading your wikipedia

  • ska and ska-punk are both good =) and they are both ska and they do have things in common that is why they are called skapun bands hehe.

  • thats like word for word from wikipedia isnt it?

  • what exactly is ska?

  • yep yep yep

  • hell yeah bro op ivy should be on top they fucking kick ass.

  • The Suicide Machines are choice! My fav ska band of all time! And i think The Mighty Mighty Bosstones should defiantly be in the top 8 fer sure. Someday I Suppose has a ton of hooks and one of my top 4 fav guitar riffs ever!

  • Streetlight Manifesto has done more than ska. Don't forget all the salsa, folk, classical, and more.

Big D's newer stuff is kind of bluesy, soul, reggae, dub, pop kind of sound.

The Suicide Machines are epic. Kind of punkish though.

Choking Victim is Crack Rock Steady.

Operation Ivy is a Ska-Core band. The first one too.
