The last time Iran was free was before the Americans and the British decided to back a military dictatorship that overthrew a democratic government in the 60s. they had a democratic republic until the U.S. in 1953 over threw the elected leader and put in their puppet. Then the puppet attacked Iraq so the U.S. gave money and arms to fight their puppet. To ensure Iraq would not get to much power it gave Iran arms also (the Iran Contra affair). So we did it as a nation. We are great nation builders and people lovers.

Actually, the main motive of the Iraqi government was to take advantage of the destabilized pro-revultion atmosphere of Iran.

I went to New York City to vote in the 2009 Iranian election, and literally 5 minutes after I cast my ballot a friend emailed me saying they had announced Ahmadenejad was winning. It was physically impossible for my vote to have been counted.

The last time Iran was free was before the Americans and the British decided to back a military dictatorship that overthrew a democratic government in the 60s. I'm of the view that the best thing we can do is nothing until the people of Iran change their own country - which they can and will eventually; Democracy when it's not earned is usually not valued (see: Iraq, hell even America now where so few people value the democratic process and so many don't vote).

@TheEEStudent i doubt ahmed is directly involved but someone fiddling around there for sure. muslim countries with natural wealth for some reason allways instable and not democratic and i do not believe it is because they are muslims. other muslim countries without wealth and not near holy land are not shown as troublemakers, most people dont even know about these countries

@argonium79 Islam and democracy don't go hand in hand. the only Islamic countries which are democracies, are countries where the government and the constitution are secular (like Turkey). Where ever, when ever, a country falls all-the-way to Islam - meaning its constitution is changed to reflect sharia law, including beheadings and amputations as legal penalties, and stonings of women for infidelity, it is no longer a democracy. E.G google for Lina Joy.

PS: I am a muslim myself, so to all the bros and sisters; think before you rant against my statements. As hard as it might be to fully grasp the idea, there is simply no real Islamic country at this time. The most recent actual Islamic nation would be the Ottoman empire. The current sharia law that are being used in the countries nowadays are simple tools for fanatics and dictating/opressing power hungry politicians.

good arguements. I can tell you that there is no real Islamic republic/state in the world at the moment. In order to implement sharia law, (which basicly is the foundation of an -islamic- country) you need democracy, freedom of speech, religious tolerance, and a form of welfare to help the poor and those in need(which clearly isn't the case in, say, Iran). Basicly what pretty much all of the west and north european countries have.
