    Thanx again...

  • Thanks a lot for sharing, this is a really touching one

  • my guru showed me the technique of applying much ghee to the hand and instrument before a difficult raga...

  • THE KING OF SARANGI

  • This isn't an Alaap, it's the Jor (It has a rhythm to it)

    Awesome recording

  • i sale my sarangi if you want contect me

  • Non stop repeat for the past 30 mins...Sounds amazing!

  • i likey

  • its a beautiful instrument so is dilruba i love both these instruments its sad you dont find many diruba artists any more its a dying instrument. its a shame this instrument will be burred in the the sands or of time.

  • Booohat Aala

  • please jinsarangi! Can you upload the full video? Thank you!!

  • @Eanartis

this is from a documentary. It was at the end before the credits rolled up and thats it. Ive only edited the sound to syc with the movie and increase the quality.

I wish there was a longer vid that i could upload.

  • @jinsarangi No worries I was making a little research on Raag Darbari by Samrat Ustad Sabri Khan and I got a FULL 10.34 from youtube.

  • @jinsarangi But I like your version / upload better. The tempo is quite appealing. Just type in Raag Darbari, Sarangi. You get the full vedio in You Tube. You vedio has the added visual advantage of seeing the great maestro. :)

  • Absolutley beautiful.

  • Does anyone know where do get the best quality Sarangi? Your help will be much appreciated.

  • i can get you one, where do you live?

  • Nicolas Magriel plays a sarangi by Paul Martin of Lincolnshire, UK. The tone and workmanship are second to none.

  • wahh i love raga darbari

  • it makes such a beautiful sound. i want to learn how to play it!

  • go to a sikh temple

  • they teach

  • u mean gurudwara..

  • is sarangi included in with harmonium and tabla at Gurdwaras? Im Muslim Punjabi and ive only been to my local Gurdwara that only has tabla and harmonium

  • Mostly it is harmonium and tabla but sarangi do appear occasionally at the Gurudwaras.

  • I see, What about chimta? I went to buy a chimta from a Punjabi music store but they told me the local Gurdwara bought the last 5!!

  • @BurntToast187

various precussion instruments might be used aswel, but mainly people use taba and harmonium, although i think that string instruments should be used, like the sarangi, dilruba and various other tanti saaj instruments because Guru Granth Sahib Ji is written in raags, therefore should be sung in raag with the proper instruments.

  • @SikhKaurLioness I see, It seems like itt all depends on the availability of the instruments and someone to properly play it

  • ajibsi kashish hai isinstrument me. best.

  • pleasant music .. nice

  • Ustadji..You are the KING of Sarangi...

  • raga darbari, it seems?????

  • I like that thing!

  • yeahhh

  • patrimonio de la humanidad

  • si señor!!!

  • amazing

  • Ae Suron ke Badshah tujhe bar bar SALAAM

  • lol i bet thats hard to play

  • what instrument is he playing? i looked up alap but that is not what it is called. thanks!

  • It's called a "Sarangi"

  • Lol, alap is the opening section of an Indian classical piece--not an instrument.

  • its a sarangi look it up on wiki

  • so sad :(

    i like it !

  • The sound of sarangi touches your soul like no other instrument. I feel my heart wrenching from its sounds.

  • I couldn't have put that better myself!

  • waaah!!!!!!!!!

this is how u explore a raaga

  • salute!

  • Beautiful. It makes my soul shiver.

  • incredible

  • it makes you sad. great.

  • I love sarangi! It's awesome! :)

  • i think it's a Sarangi. it says so in the title

  • Go eat shit req41

    This music is my religion

  • indian music its not just music, its religion, espiritual, its something else that some person doesnt feel, cause nobody can explain it

  • Is he playing a shudha ghandar in there? I didn't think that was part of Darbari . .. But then again, I'm probably wrong. However, this is truly amazing and I bow to ustadji. Kyabatai!

  • no shudh ghandar in there mate.

full vid to be uploaded soon.

  • Sorry, but what's the note he's playing around seconds 8-11? That sure sounds like a shudha ghandar. In darbari, isn't it a komal ghandar? That's like one of the most important parts of the raga . . . But I can't wait foe the whole vid! Look forward to it.

  • that my friend is a shudh re not gandhar.

As you said darbari has komal ga, hence why ustadji doesnt play the shudh ga.

  • awesome really touching heart... feeling that he's touching the string of my heart... can't stop my tear... so beautiful

  • it has such an emotional depth and a kind of chamber orchestral sound. Amazing... thank's jinsarangi. (P.S.: You mention a documentary. Is it on DVD or was it broadcasted on TV?)

  • wow kya bat hai so touching...

  • PLs tell me is it true that Sarangi is th etoughest of all the instruments to play , as You have to press the strings in between the nails and the fingers. So people get their fingers wounded,, That makes the maestro more repectfull , as what pain he has gone through to sound this Gud.

  • yes thats correct, It takes decades to not even perfect but just to play it propper.

  • He is the true master playing the soul of sarangi....the mounteverest of sarangi

  • He truly creates a vocal experience

  • so sad n marvelous

  • I feel the same way. The sarangi seems to tap into a place that is not quite the same anywhere else.

  • i lve classical music so much n this one is true master piece

  • wow the most beautiful and haunting sarangi sound i ever heard.

  • kyaa baat hai ustadji. incredible

  • wah, kya darbari hai, wah wah, feels like I am sitting in the court myself....beautiful

  • is there any chance i can get this on cd?

  • A real masterpiece of Raag Darbari... thanks a ton for sharing.

  • the worlds greatest sarangi player and ustad of indian classical music. One thing is to be a player of music, which ustadji has more than occomplished. The other is to be an ustad, to which we have to look no further than his son and grandson's outstanding talents. And there are many others out there who are eating today beacuse of ustadjis teachings and blessings.
