@latindansa - Gauge is always measured in stockinette stitch unless stated otherwise.

why don't you start from the edge? when you figure out how many sts per inch, is that what you start knitting?

@cheezymouseful - You don't start from the edge because edge stitches are distorted and you will not get accurate measurements.
