  • IMHO, DePaul getting knocked out early was the best thing that happened to Indiana.

I don't think Bobby Knight wins a title that year if they have to face DePaul.

  • Any news on Skip Dillard these days? I thought he was released from prison a few years ago but i can't find any articles on him?

  • Skip Dillard's life was never the same after that game, He would never take bribe. He just flat out choked! but he's still the 2nd best point guard in Depaul history behind Rod Strickland....... I THINK!

  • It really puts into history of what losing can do but in a funny way, it does have that funny charm. Even if DePaul won it, what they were going to do, get that Chicago, Catholic girl? Nah, keep being No.1 and lose in the first round.

  • When DePaul went out in that game, Indiana pretty much had a cakewalk to the Final Four.

  • i think that skip took a bribe he didn't do much that entire game

  • My dad still still gets mad about this game and it was like over 30 years ago or so...he went to school there at Depaul and said the rest of the year was a drag.

  • I cried that day! Skip "Money" Dillard, the best FT shooter on the team, misses the front end of the 1 and 1. Auguirre walked back to the hotel in his uniform. Same thing the next year when Boston College knocked them out in game one. DePaul had 1st rd byes back then with the 48 team field.

  • I second that bro. This was probably the 1st time I realized the impact of sports would have on me the rest of my life. they I was, an 8 yr. old kid sittin on the floor jus crying n in such disbelief! It was 4yrs. of dissapointment; '79 the loss 2 Indiana St. in Final 4, in 80,81,82 they had a #1seed n a bye only 2 lose...all that n I'm a Cubs fan too! This is the yr 4 my Cubbies

  • Ranks a close 2nd behind 1985 Villanova/Georgetown as the greatest game for a Big 5 team in the NCAA tournament. If you've ever heard the entire Don Criqui call of the final play, it sounds like he knows Depaul is doomed as soon as they miss the front end of the one and one.

  • From a Villanova fan... This was one of the best NCAA upsets before the field was expanded to 64/65.
