I just started jump roping a few days ago and I really enjoy your videos! I wish there were punk rope classes where I live, but I'm in Europe so I guess I'll have to stick to the videos... ;)
I still can't get the boxer step right, i always trip, but i'll keep practicing!
Be careful with that shin! Strengthening the shin muscles can help. Toes raises and heel walking are good choices. Icing your shin might help to reduce the inflammation.
you can visit punkrope(dot)com for sizing for our ropes. some manufacturers include the handle in the length of their ropes and others don't so we can only tell you which of OUR ropes will work for you.
so glad it's helping you! we publish a monthly newsletter through our website which might interest you. i'm not allowed to say the url on YouTube but it starts with punkrope and ends with com
Don't do it for 10 minutes! Progress gradually. Begin with 1 minute and increase a tiny bit every week. Also, strengthen the muscles in your shins by doing toe raises and walking on your heels.
If your feet hurt you should first consult a podiatrist so they can determine if there are any orthopedic issues. But assuming there's nothing wrong with your feet the other two possibilities are that you're jumping too high and landing too hard and/or that you're not wearing the right footwear.
@haft2bfit thanks alot, i tried my old shoes and they didn't hurt, theres nothing wrong with my new ones i guess im just not used to them yet but thanks for answering
the key to "running" skips is to keep your knees in front of your hips. don't kick back with your heels. imagine you're in a marching band. that should help.
@haft2bfit thanks. i just tried doing some. all i could do is the 2 legged jump. got to work at it some more. but its fun once you got in a rythm even with basic jumps. is starting with beaded rope really necessaryor can i jump straight to the pvs type rope?
We're glad you're having fun with it! Try jumping to some of your favorite songs as long as they have a steady beat and are fast enough (at least 140 beats per minute). I'm not a big fan of beaded ropes. You can check out ours at the Punk Rope website. If you use the code PRUNITED at checkout you'll save 15%.

I live in Brussels, Belgium. Still practicing, but I've been having some trouble with my left shin, so I'm slowing down a little!

whenever I do the running in place skip, I trip. I can do the 2 legged skips just fine, though. How can I remedy this problem?

@haft2bfit i barely take my feet of the floor now unless im doing double unders but i do trip on the rope alot
wozzers2 9 months ago
@wozzers2
With practice the tripping should go away. Sometimes I close my eyes and play a song with a really steady beat. That can help.

im new to this. how does rope clear ur feet if ur only lifting a foot?
thanks
lutwey 1 year ago
@lutwey
hi! you're actually lifting both feet, but only for a split second. The rope must pass when both feet are off the ground so timing is everything.
